im actually considering celtic lay
Report newco-Joe67 July 17, 2013 1:45 PM BST
Cover Celtic lay with a back on Cliftonville to score at evens. They will definitely score on the surface they are used to with the energy of the crowd behind them tonight.
Report The Bhoys July 17, 2013 1:46 PM BST
im actually looking at lay of unquoted. cant see celtic getting 2 never mind 4
Report newco-Joe67 July 17, 2013 1:50 PM BST
You could do that too. 2-1 Cliftonville for me with a saver on 1-1 and a lay of Celtic all covered by a single stake on Cliftonville to score
Report The Bhoys July 17, 2013 1:55 PM BST
mate are you not overrating cliftonville? I don't follow irish premiership but I do no cliftonville can score for fun

BTTS @ evens & DNB @ 10/1 strikes me as quite tasty.

Newco, my apologies for being rude to you in the "orange" thread the other day.  I'd had a bitch of a day.

Enjoy the game tonight - should be a good un Love

Your best deciding factor here is the history and links between clubs. Add in Cliftonville played a passing game to win title scoring goals for fun and looking like they could hold their own in English League 2 or 1.
Celtic missing five key players and coming off heavy defeats to second tier clubs in Germany. No doubt they will have better players than them games but no doubt they have to be in pre season mode.
Under strength pre season team missing players and two key players now sold, Cliftonvilles history strong in the parallels of NI civil right movements. Cliftonville were last champions in 98 after a 90 year wait, the same season Celtic ended Rangers 10 in row dreams. Holding titles aloft months after Good Friday agreement and end to war.
Cliftonville were the first Irish club to be formed and were reborn in 1970 at the new home of Solitude North Belfast weeks before the IRA fired its first shots in defiance, a few streets away, as Civil rights peaceful protesting was ending in a wave of violence directly at the civil rights movement by members of Royal force authoritarians. The war started.
Violence erupted in 1970 at Solitude when hosting Irish cup final between Linfield and Balyymena. Homes were destroyed and people assaulted much in the way Belfast Celtic met their end after players were assaulted by fans on the pitch, Belfast Celtics star forward had his leg broken to stop Belfast Celtic dominating on the pitch. On the pitch B Celtic had dominated the 20s and 30s but had only regained the league after a decade in 1948. Belfast Celtic resigned from the league months later as champions.
Cliftonville are now champions again for the first time since 1998 and thriving. They have nothing to lose , everything to gain and undoubted bottle. Celtic with new players not reading each other so well early on. Outside some of the worst riots in years as Orange Order protests are quelled by thousands of extra police drafted in by the GB.
League two and one sides regularly get surprise wins in the English league cup against teams with supposedly much better players. A Cliftonville win is very possible. A Cliftonville goal is already scripted into the powerful force of football communicating a language of community.
Celtic always have the 2nd leg and with Lennon very aware of the progress and history of Cliftonville you can be sure it will won't go without some fight from Cliftonville. Cliftonville the same price Celtic were at home to Barcelona last October.

I hadn't made any mental note about it so no offence was taken. It's a momentous occasion for the first Irish football club tonight. Cliftonville in pre season themselves but hope they can get into their passing game despite any early nerves.

Not bad team for Celtic, it's balanced but nothing in formation that Cliftonville aren't used to.A lot of them Celtic players are sweating off easier living the last few weeks. A medium pace is all Celtic will be up to and that lets Cliftonville pass it about and create a few chances.

Here's a wee song for ya!

In the County Tyrone near the town of Dunganon,
There was many a ruction that meself had an hand in
Bob Williams he lived there a weaver by trade
And all of us thought him a stout Orange blade
On the twelfth of July as around it had come
Bob played his old flute to the sound of the drum
You can talk to ya harp, ya piano or Lute
But nothing compares with the ould Orange Flute.
2. But Bob, the deciever, he took us all in
He married a Papish called Bridget McGinn
Turned Papish himself and forsook the old cause
That gave us our freedom, religion and laws
Now the boys in the place made some comment upon it
And Bob had to fly to the province of Connacht
Well he fled with his wife and his fixings to boot
And along with the latter his ould Orange Flute.

3. At the chapels on sundays, to atone for past deeds
He'd say Paters and Aves and he counted his beads
Till, after some time, at the priest's own desire
Bob went with his ould flute to play in the choir
Well he went with his ould flute to play in the mass
But the instrument shivered and sighed, oh alas
And blow as he would, though it made a great noise
The flute would play only "The protestant boys".

4. At a council of priests that was held the next day
They decided to banish the ould flute away
They couldn't knock heresy out of its head
So they bought Bob a new one to play in its stead
Now the ould flute it was doomed and its fate was pathetic
'Twas fastened and burnt at the stake as heretic
As the flames roared around it, sure they heard a strange noise
'Twas the ould flute still playing 'The protestant boys'.
In the County Tyrone, near the town of Dungannon
Where's many the ruckus meself had a hand in
Bob Williamson lived there, a weaver by trade,
And all of us thought him a stout-hearted blade.
On the Twelfth of July, as it yearly did come,
Bob played with his flute to the sound of a drum
You may talk of your fiddles, your harp or your lute
But there's none could compare to the old Orange flute!
2. But the treacherous scoundrel, he took us all in,
And he married a Papist named Briget McGinn
Turned Papish himself, and forsook the Old Cause,
That gave us our freedom, religion and laws.
Now the boys of the County made such a stir on it
And Bob had to flee to the Province of Connaught;
Took with him his wife, and his fixin's to boot
And, along with the rest went the old Orange flute!

3. Each Sunday at Mass, to atone for past deeds,
Bob said Paters and Aves, and counted his beads,
Till one Sunday morn, at the priest's own require
Bob went for to play with the flutes in the choir.
He went with the old flute to play in the Mass,
But the instrument shivered and sighed, Oh Alas!
And blow as he would, though he made a great noise,
The flute would play only "The Protestant Boys."

4. Bob jumped up and huffed, and was all in a flutter,
And threw the old flute in the blessed Holy Water,
He thought that this charm would bring some other sound:
When he played it again, it played "Croppies Lie Down."
And for all he would finger and twiddle and blow,
For to play Papish music, the flute would not go;
"Kick The Pope," and "Boyne Water" it freely would sound,
But one Papish squeak in it couldn't be found.

5. At the Council of Priests that was held the next day,
They decided to banish the old flute away.
They couldn't knock heresy out of its head,
So they bought Bob a new one to play in its stead.
Now, the old flute was doomed, and its fate was pathetic:
T'was fastened and burnt at the stake, as heretic!
And as the flames roared around it, they heard a strange noise:
T'was the old flute a-whistlin' "The Protestant Boys!"
