Some good games tonight:

1. Benfica vs Newcastle
2. Fenerbache vs Lazio
3. Tottenham vs Basel
4. Chelsea vs Rubin Kazan

Which match to choose for over 2.5?

1st legs at this stage of the competition, things could be quite tight. Agree with Platini though, I feel Spurs represents the best chance, and the prices reflect that.

What is the point of splitting games between 6pm and 8pm kick offs all through the tournament then when we get to a round where the competition actually starts to get interesting, they have every game at the same time.

When we think the Spurs game holds the most promise of goals, is that because we believe they will score a couple or because we expect them to concede as well?

Basel can definitely score a goal or two if they play close to their best. Benfica have scored 102 goals so far this season but NUFC haven't conceded a goal in over 6 hours of football in this comp.

Will Newcastle play a first choice side though? Surely their game v Fulham on sunday is far more important to them.

I would prioritize the league if I was Pardew but according to reports they will field their strongest side except for Ben Arfa, Coloccini and Tiote who are unavailable

Yes I find this ridiculous too. The first time the Europa League could have got decent exposure in the UK and UEFA have managed to balls it up.

i agree with n88 and biscuit that games should be scheduled for tv fans......but the point most russian or east european games are early as they are 2-3 hrs ahead of western europe time

next week i assume  the rubin v che game will be early...

but would like to see 4 days for 4 matches in CL atleast...

Fair point gotia, i just think for a competition that a lot of people don't really care about you'd think they'd want to maximise the tv coverage when they could. Have 2 matches at 6pm this week and then those 2 can be the 8pm games next week and vice versa.

I've also had a bet on Benfica/Spurs double at a little over evens.

Would of included Chelsea but just feel Rubin could play out a 0-0, you have to think of the intensity Chelsea can bring to the tie, maybe Torres starting over Ba as well. 0-0 or 1-0 imo.
By:

Torres will definitely start over Ba because Ba is cup tied.

I've done Mata and Bale to score, and a Chelsea Spurs (-1) double. That'll do me, its route 1 but small steaks.

I will be laying a tired chelsea team.

Basel have a good pedigree in europe so i will be laying spurs -1

Unders at Spurs.

All four of Basel's knockout games have gone under and they scored one away goal.

Definitely value on unders given Bale is the only attacking player in goalscoring form for Spurs and Defoe is injured so even less options up front.

Anyone know if Klose is back for Lazio? Came off the bench in their last game? Might back them at Fenerbache if he's playing.

Chelsea and Benfica should both win but wouldn't back them at the prices...maybe a back of Cardozo to score for Benfica.

Small overs acca on Benfica, Fenebache and Chelsea matches, the Basel stat of All four of their knockout games have gone under and they scored one away goal, persuaded me not to back them in the acca.
