There's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people. Real Madrid Castilla play in Segunda División:http://www.futbol24.com/national/Spain/Segunda-Division/2012-2013/
Oh, and by stupid people I wasn't insinuating you are stupid. People who never ask questions are stupid, remain stupid. Hence there are no stupid questions.
Question everything.

Just noticed that the site I use for streams (not sure I am allowed to post the url here) says it's a match between Real Madrid Castilla and Real Oviedo, so you're absolutely right about asking questions regarding the teams that are playing before getting involved. Still, if you look at the links on Futbol24.com for Spain, there's the Segunda División; Real Madrid Castilla have played 31 matches in that league. Then there's also the Segunda B (Grupo 1); Real Madrid C have played 30 matches there. Can't be the same two teams, right? (Or else I'd be the stupid one. )

Thanks again mate. Im a massive madrid fan but dont pay much attention to the lower leagues in spain. What happens if Real madrid castilla get promoted? can this happen?

I don't know for sure (I don't follow these leagues either), but I can't see how they would justify that. It would raise a serious conflict of interest when both teams meet. Just imagine Real Madrid needing 3 points to secure the title on the last day of the season, and then having to go up again Real Madrid Castilla. think Real Madrid would be 1.00000000000001 that day to win.

Castilla can never be promoted (neither can Barca B), the closest they're allowed is one league below.
When Villareal were relegated from la liga last season, their B team had to drop down out of the Segunda as a result.

What if Villarreal B had won the league that season, though? I reckon not, but would that have been a possibility?
A bit embarrasing for the club, to see Villarreal B play teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid, while the first team meet teams like Ponferradina, Guadalajara (ESP), and Mirandés.

They still wouldn't be allowed to go up. A couple of years back Barca's B team came 3rd in the Segunda and weren't allowed in the play offs so the 7th place team qualified.

But that's because the Spanish FA would never allow Barcelona to be relegated.
Nah, it makes perfect sense those rules exist. It's not about winning prizes, anyway. Those teams are there so players can develop their skills, not to win prizes. To teach them the system the club traditionally plays. Even if the lower teams never win any titles, it will pay off in the long run if/when a player breaks through.
Five matches being played in this league at the moment, and only one goal was scored. After 225 minutes of football, that's a bit poor.

I'm sure Real Madrid are preparing to spend ridiculous amounts of money again on attracting players from other clubs in the Summer. That's how they "roll," no?

I know they cant get promoted but do you think if Real Madrid got relegated and the Castilla team won promotion it would be allowed?
