As above, I've got a £100 free bet with a sportsbook and I'm looking for inspiration on what to use it on.

Only restrictions are:
- I don't get the stake back if the bet wins
- I have to use all of the £100 on one bet
- I have to place the bet within 7 days from today (although it doesn't matter if the bet settles outside of that 7 day window)

There are no other restrictions (any odds is fine and I can bet on any sport or market).

Any (sensible) suggestions?

Does it have to be a single or can it be on a multiple?
Report donny osmond March 21, 2013 11:24 AM GMT
can you do each way ?

evens in a 2 outcome liquid market is always a good shout, with the reverse result covered elsewhere

Why do you not lay it off to guarnatee about £90 profit you can withdraw?
Report Da Daddy March 21, 2013 11:34 AM GMT
I think it can be either a single or a multiple and that you can do each way, but I'm checking.

I did think about laying it off on Betfair, although was thinking maybe I should be a little braver and just punt it.  Maybe I should compromise and lay off some of it.

If you can do a multi then i like the look of:

New Zealand v New Caledonia
Kazakhstan v Germany
Spain v Finland
Holland v Estonia
Colombia v Bolivia
Argentina v Venezuela

Paying just over evens.

Russia would only return him £50, he'd be better of laying it and making about £90 risk free

Michael Van Gerwen to win tonight - he will win the premier league, so top bet considering he's 2nd in the table at the moment

again, this will only return him £50- not a wise move!

You want to use it on something that is unlikely to win (long odds), but where the odds at your bookie isn't much worse than on here. If you have £1,000 on here you should be able to get a guaranteed profit of  close to £90 should you so desire. If you use it for a bet at evens then the offer is only worth about £50 to you, and even less if you go odds on.

Exaclty my point Mr Anderson.

Mr Anderson and MrLay0-0 - I'm not sure I follow how I can make a guaranteed £90 or so.  If we assume I've got £200 on here and I don't want to deposit several hundred pounds more, can you give me an example of how what you suggest would work?

As you say with an evens shot, I'd end up with less than £50.
Report MrLay0-0 March 21, 2013 2:10 PM GMT
You would need a bigger balance. But a quick example, you need to find something that wont really happen, so odds of 7 or higher. You need to find similar odds between the sportsbook and normal betfair, usually HT/Ft markets or Correct score is best. I CBA to do the work for you, but a quick example is brazil vs italy. You stake your £100 free bet on 2-1 at odds of 8. Then on normal betfair you lay 2-1 at 10.5 for £66.99 (£636.40 liability). Then either way you have £63 green. If you spend time and go through the popular games market you will find plenty of games with a difference of maybe .2-.8, the closer the better and the more money you are guaranteed.

Los Angeles Kings -1.5 At Home against Dallas Stars in the NHL 2.42, will be immense trust me.
I would bet on Van Gerwen to win, then maybe LA Kings -1.5 or just on 60 mins betting.
Check out my Top Class 8-fold post, good bets on there once you win from your free bet.
Report Mr.Anderson March 21, 2013 2:27 PM GMT
Back something/someone at your bookie at odds of 10. Then if you can lay the same selection on here at odds of 10.5 (or perhaps even 10 or 9.something), you can make that lay-bet on here £85.

Outcome 1) You win at the bookie: You win £900 from the bookie and lose £807.50 here. +92.75 in total.

Outcome 2) Your bet at the bookie loses, but you don't lose any money. On here you win £85 minus a few pounds of commission.

In this example you obviously need a minimum of £807.50 on here. If you only have £ 200 on here you can make it a guaranteed profit of £20 or so, and  have a small chance of winning £700, or just forget about the laying off part if you think you have found a good value long shot.

If you back something at evens at your bookie, and lay the same selection at evens on here you can only lock in a profit of a bit less than £50

Outcome 1) You win £100 at your bookie, but lose £50 on here, for a total of £50.
Outcome 2) Your bookie bet loses, but you win £50 minus a few pounds of commission on here.

Los Angeles Kings -1.5 a good call, 2.48
No point betting on Van Gerwen then that, same returns really with that £100 free bet
Good luck anyway
