I've got a bet. First thing you need to know is that the pitch is a shocker. When they built the main stand they poured concrete into the floodlight foundation holes and when they came back to put the floodlights in it had all gone - into the pitch drainage pipes! The pitch has really suffered. The main stand is also on the South side of the pitch and blocks sunlight. Stupid that Crewe have amazing Premier League standard training facilities and a team full of dwarf ball players, but a joke of a pitch. There is talk of Crewe getting a synthetic weave pitch to solve the problems but apparently they cost almost £1,000,000 and there is a massive waiting list. So I dont think the pitch will suit either side.

Crewe have been through a sticky spell but have strung two very good performances together in their last two, winning at Colchester and then outplaying Shrewsbury on Saturday and being pretty unlucky not to come up with 3 more points. MK Dons are still chasing the play-offs but Crewe's manager Steve Davis is ruling them out either. If they win tonight they would be level on points with MK Dons with a game in hand, and Crewe went on a similar run last season that culminated in Wembley and promotion. Personally I think that's asking a bit much. I do think Crewe are a tad big tonight, but I couldnt have any bet on goals or the match odds with confidence on that pitch. I do think there is a bit of value to be had though.

Both teams are also missing players. MK Dons have 4 important players missing, and Crewe are missing Max Clayton (England u-19s) and possibly Byron Moore (dead leg). This means that for Crewe one or both of Ryan Colclough and/or Nathan Ellington will start. Probably Colclough. Ellington looked good when he made his debut for Crewe, coming on with 10 minutes to go on Saturday v Shrewsbury. He hit the bar with a header with his first touch and linked up with Matthais Pogba like the two were twins. He has scored 5 in 5 for Crewe's reserves, got himself fit and is raring to go. He is only 31 and should be a big asset for the Alex. As Ellington played in Crewe Reserves 4-1 win over their Leeds counterparts yesterday, he is more unlikely to start that Colclough.

Colclough is a very busy academy graduate, who exuded confidence and energy before suffering a fracture cheekbone against MK Dons in the return fixture. He has scored a lot of goals for the kids and reserves and is highly thought of by the management team. In his limited time in the firsts he's got himself in a lot of good positions, and he will score goals. He is being totally underrated by most of the books tonight. If he starts he will be in a top two or three and should be no bigger than 6/1-7/1. Joke Oral go 6/1 anytime and both Billy Hill and Bet £3.65 go 16/1 FGS and that is well worth a small investment.

£15 Colclough anytime scorer 6/1 Joke Oral
£5 Colclough first scorer 16/1 Bet £3.65

I also fully expect Ryan Lowe to score for MK Dons tonight. He had two years at Gresty Rd and did very well for Crewe but was played out of position (RW) by Dario and has a point to prove tonight.

So one more bet.

Lowe anytime scorer £20 15/8 Vietcong Bet (if you can get on - I can't so am having to use Paddy Power @ 9/5)

I would actually prove this up at something like
5/4 Crewe, Draw 5/2, MK Dons 11/5, so a bit different to the books.

Colclough and Ellington start for Crewe along with top scorer Pogba. Lowe starts for MK Dons.

tough one this and is adefo no bet for me. Both teams lack consistancy and are capable of producing any result here. Definite no bet material in terms of the result.

Good luck whatever you go for

Accrington 2-0 up .  Didn't know they were bottom of the league when I chucked 'em onto bets or I'd not have touched them.

Accrington have 2 'former england stars' (?) on the team : someone-Birch and Francis Jeffers.  I remember him : wasn't he a coming-bigshot who never came for Arsenal about 10 yr ago?
