I work full time and was quite good at winning money on here for a while but the last year has been very trying to say the least. |

I'm from England too, work full-time and play on here as a hobby with what I can afford to lose. Done -£1700 in my first beginner year but clawed it back and i'm learning from some on the forum about discipline and playing with a percent of the bank rather than ad-hock all-in. As much as some are clearly total d**ks a lot of you on here are sound lads.

im guessing your northern grant- manchester way? I lost about £700 in my first year, broke even at the turn of this year an slowly building some profit :)

I live in harpenden Before anyone thinks I must be rich We are the poorest family here. But I was left the house by parents I suppose I'm a little up over the years. I normally bet £100 a game but goes more if winning.
I' never abuse other posters but like to abuse players I would never print anything I know to be untrue |

nice do you work?

Nah MrLay0-0, i'm from Brilliant Brighton!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Btw the ! marks arn't because i'm gay just because it's proper nice here. The Nottingham thing was because of an ex gf, nice place though, I really like it. Glad to hear i'm not the only one who was down massivly on year one, beginners mistakes, thinkings i'd pay off the mortgage laying 3-0 winners for £50 @ 1.01, greed etc...i'm learning though, those £3-£10 wins add up.

Ive got family in nottingham- its not a nice place! haha you had to clear that up what with being from brighton ;) yeah, first year and a bit was like a rollercoaster, at one point I was up £1,200 then within a month down £600! kept yo-yoing, you learn eventually! Theres no rush is how I see it now, yeah something could be an amazin bet, but there will be another on next week, etc

Hi I'm 21 and from blackburn. I lost 7k between my 18th and 19th birthday but since then dug in and decided to learn the markets better and have made a nice profit now. Just doing this part time but hopefully if I'm good enough perhaps go full time. If not will be nice to have some extra earnings with my job :)
By:
Im 21 too :) ouch, big loss straight up! what kinda bets were they on?
By:
Tried a bit of everything really but mainly football and lost big on that to. Averaging 2k a month recently though so managed to get through the dark days I think :)

Im 20 :).
By:
2K a month?! And you only doing it part time, thats well good. footy bets?

Some young guns coming through now betfair beware! :)

Yer maybe it wasn't so nice mrlay...rose tinted specs and all that lol. No rush at all you're right...i've learnt there are games everyday that are good, I don't need to wait until the big euro and premier league games to put money on, small but regular bets are the order of the day for me this year. Turned £50 into £165 since Monday so withdraw a little, start again and avoid Spain and Portugal for me! Smithy thats a BIG first year loss, you've got balls dude, glad to hear you've got it sorted out and are making a bit on top. I'd hate to do this for a job, much as I hate work every night infront of a screen sweating doesn't sound any better to me. Guess it's all about circumstance, i'm from a low earning family so it's instilled into me to work, pay the bills, pay the mortgage and then have fun with anything left. Much better as a hobby that generally pays for my lunch and dinner most months.

Yes mate 95% footy 5% cricket. Big pre off bets and most live televised matches trading in play
By:
yeh true grant, just the thought of waking up, clicking some buttons and having free time is the appeal, but I'd hate the pressure! Thats nice smithy, might have to hassle you for some tips making them bucks!
By:
Post your bets up Smithy, I will have some of that lol!

Ah the wonder of the internet.... in the old days you young lads would've had to resort to public lavatories for meetings like this

Hi CJ

Agreed about the pressure I feel it part time and live with my parents hahahaha so god knows what it must be like being a pro gambler with house and kids don't think I could cope. Most of my in play bets I don't know what I will bet on myself until the game starts. I look for quick match odds trades with big stakes!.

Hi, i'm Biscuit and i'm addicted to sports and betfair
By:
where you from McVities?
By:
Thirded on the pressure...couldn't handle it myself. Work pays bills this is fun + maybe a new tv or something now and then. I do a lot of inplay trades myself smithy but sounds like you're punting round much bigger money than me!
By:
I'd agree with biscuit addicted definetly lol. Grant i started with £30 trades in play now I use bigger stakes. Found it tough early on in play thought I'd never crack it after failing 4 days into euro 2012 but I've learnt a lot this season!
