I am going to avoid Italian matches from now on after that fooking ref in the AC Milan vs Udinese match cost me thousands.

13 Red Cards in Italy yesterday suggests the refs decide whow ins.

How come these matches that are proven to be fixed are never voided. Presumably BF withhold payout on suspicious patterns.

I doubt Betfair is the main source of the money for these fixed matches. I was reading a while ago about totally fictitious matches invented by the Asian markets never mind fixed matches. Complete with their own fictitious spotters providing goal updates, etc!

Imagine losing an overs bet then you know that it was fixed indeed CryCry

This is the main reason why they need to introduce technology where possible because refs would be the obvious target.

"Bahrain's national soccer team needed to prepare for an important game. So it jumped at a chance to invite Togo, a small West African country with a highly regarded soccer team, to play an exhibition match.

At least $60,000 was spent on flights, hotels and other expenses, and in early September, the Bahrain team lined up against 11 players in Togo jerseys. The Togo players weren't as good as the Bahrainians expected, and the Persian Gulf team won 3-0.

In Togo's capital, Lomé, the Togo Football Federation was surprised not so much by the team's poor showing as by the game itself: On Sept. 7 the Togo team wasn't actually in Bahrain—but on a bus returning from an official game in Botswana.

TFF officials say the team in Bahrain was a fake one, which they suspect was organized by someone wishing to pocket some of the money spent on the event.

"It's quite annoying," says Togo Sports Minister Christophe Tchao. "We need to make this sport healthier."

Fifa's security chief is trying to locate Nigerien referee Ibrahim Chaibou, who officiated a friendly international that is being investigated for match-fixing claims.

Chaibou has disappeared since it was revealed that Fifa are looking into suspicious betting patterns surrounding Nigeria's 4-1 win over Argentina on 1 June.

"We are trying hard to track down the referee and we are confident that we will succeed," Fifa's head of security Chris Eaton said.

Nigeria were leading the game 4-0 until Chaibou awarded Argentina, who fielded a second-string side, a penalty for handball in the eighth minute of injury time.

This was despite the fourth official having indicated just five minutes of injury time.

Television replays showed the ball had hit a Nigerian player's shin.

While the score was 4-0 to Nigeria, a huge amount of money in the Asian gambling markets was bet on a fifth goal being scored in the match.

Chaibou has been involved in controversial games before.

He was in charge of the match last September where Bahrain beat a fake Togo team 3-0, which is also being investigated for possible match-fixing.

In May 2010, Chaibou awarded three controversial penalties for handballs as South Africa beat Guatemala 5-0 in a World Cup warm-up match.

When I used to play for Liverpool in the 1970's they tried to bribe us to let Man Utd win a game because they were so sh*te they, never used to win anything but had a few luxury players who they make vids of now, and pretend they were some sort of great side.

because of match fixing scandal be prepared for some low scoring encounters for a while. 3-3 and 3-4 scores will attract interest so those on the cheat will keep a low profile for a while

poor  football!! what about tennis, snooker, american football, basketball. golf, horse rcing, and even indoor bowls maybe. Every blooming thing is fixed if you ask me. Except maybe Uk rugby seems to be the only straight sport betting wise in this country there is.

wouldn't be so sure of that sunny. Quite a few rugby players on the current sanctioned list from the UK doping agency.

I've seen plenty of dodgy rugby league matches, can't stand watching rugby union so don't know about that, basketball is number one the worst.
