http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1794723Shows you how naive the general perception of match fixing "couldn't possibly exist in this country" is. The English game has a white image that is too white too believe. Every time something remotely dodgy is mentioned with regards to an English team it is immediately squashed or rubbished by the authorities. And it's exactly that sort of attitude which will lead to nothing being done about it.

Betting in running must have been a great invention for match fixers, cos theres less time for other things to influence the thing you have fixed

I guess key positions for a fix are the GK and the referee, as they have the best chance to alter a game or result

The problem Biscuit with saying the ref in Barce vs Chelsea was just outright trying to fix the match for Barcelona as I believe you are suggesting (maybe you are not), is the terrible red card decision against Abidal. If you are actively trying to help a team to win you don't send off a player on their team.

This tends to make me think it was just a bad ref well out of his depth, because where would the fix be? You can fix overs as a ref by giving dodgy decisions, it's a lot harder to fix unders style bets though.

Trust me it is! So a game in Bulgaria with an amount €40k matched is more corrupt than a crappy Chelsea game with an amount about €10 million?

Well somehow i doubt that the far east betting syndicates making millions on dodgy games are using betfair, so the money matched on here won't matter in the slightest.

How long ago was it when Barca were getting beat at Home by Chelsea in a Champ league game, and that Dodgy German Blondey Ref (Got his head split open by an object at an italian game)
Chelsea were 1-0 up,yet on here over £1 million was put up for Chelsea to get beat.
The ref gave 1-2 Penalties and sent off 1-2 Chelsea players.

This made me laugh:

"They also included that of a Hungarian referee, arrested last June, who is on trial for fixing a friendly between the Bolivian and Argentine junior teams by awarding a questionable red card in the 20th minute of injury time that led to a 1-0 victory for Argentina from the resulting penalty"

Nothing suspicious about that at all LaughLaugh

This was just run on today fm ( Ireland)..The guy getting interviewed basically said that the fixers dont mind if some go wrong as they will always win.....anyone remember the Napoli keepers bizarre reaction to his team scoring another goal?....I can't remember the score or game but it bust possibly an exact handicap win, unders bet etc....With in play it also opens up a whole list of potential options....such as them knowing which half to back overs, then unders in a second half of no goals....How often do we see those games?.....hmmmm

Anyway, everyone on here who love a bit of the action Mischief

My guess would be the Arsenal 5-0 win over Porto in 2010. Nicolas Bendtner hat-trick? It's beyond the joke, how dare they cast such mind blowing absurdity on us and expect us to believe it's real

I was going to suggest an Arsenal Champions League group game, they've had some suspiciously good results in recent seasons. Not sure it would Porto would be involved in that though, unless their goal keeper was the fixer. Probably one of the eastern european teams they've played.

If Newcastle is your part of the world, I remember about 6 years back a Chinese guy that lived a few streets down from my flat got murdered. It was betting related, but he was giving live updates by phone to people trying to beat a 1 minute or so delay that some of the asian bookies had on football matches in England.

What was that match on here a year or so ago. When one team was heavy odds on going into injury time, and the ref awarded a non sensical penalty in a similar scenario. Madness.

Atletico Madrid drifted 1.6 out to 2.2 a few years back and I watched the most barmy performance I've ever seen from a European team, they wanted to lose.
