Billy he didn't even have to do anything except 'i put that ball over the line with my hand'. Giants like Mansfield when they win their next Premier leauge, Champions League title or F.A.Cup might forgive HIM then

Suarez standing near the line and the ball bounced in front of him and he pushed it over with his hand, now that it's 2-1 it's going to be more controversial

Jon Champion rebuked after branding Liverpool FC striker Luis Suarez a cheat live on air

By James Pearce
Jan 7 2013

COMMENTATOR Jon Champion has been rebuked by ESPN after branding Liverpool FC striker Luis Suarez a cheat live on air during the FA Cup tie against Mansfield Town.

Champion slammed the Uruguayan for the handball which referee Andre Marriner failed to spot prior to the Reds’ second goal.

He described it as “the work of a cheat”, which sparked an angry response from Reds fans.

In a statement ESPN said: “We take our responsibility to deliver the highest standards of coverage to our viewers.

“ESPN’s editorial policy is for commentators to be unbiased and honest, to call things as they see them.

“Inevitably this can involve treading a fine line on occasion, especially in the heat of the moment.

“Comments during the Mansfield v Liverpool match caused offence where none was intended and we have spoken to our commentator about this incident."

I think the commentator is allowed to say what he wants during comentary, however having watched replays if he chooses then he can ammend his original remarks, no real issue imo

Those who single Suarez out for this dont have a clue. It is up to the referee to spot these things, simple as that.

mansfield players said they would have done the same.
So would any striker.
The ball hit his hand accidentally anyway, whats the problem??

Oh yes,its Luiz Suarez.

The witchhunt goes on.

Sad so sad.

only people who know absolutely nothing about football will think that suarez cheated against mansfield.

everybody else saw the ball bounce up and hit his hand.

that's not cheating, that's accidental.

holding players in the penalty area is cheating.
try stamping that out before you start worrying about accidental handballs.

If Suarez took the ball in his hands and dived over the goal line rugby style Liverpool fans would say it is acceptable if the ref doesn't blow the whistle.
By:

When: 07 Jan 13 18:02
its not acceptable, but its not the players job to referee a game.
Cheating goes on in Football at all levels, either accept it or stop watching.
Simple.

Why stop watching?  If I see a cheat I will call it.  And keep calling it until he is stopped.
By:
JamDav1982

If that makes Suarez a cheat then virtually every player cheats every game unless they admit to every error the ref has made. It doesnt happen.

Those trying to make an exmaple of Suarez just make themselves look like complete mugs.

its like saying its ok to go round mugging people as long as you dont get caught

good job sabile wasnt a scouser or they'd be praying for him to get off

donny osmond - you are totally missing the point.

Players get away with poor referee decisions every week.

Why focus on Suarez?
By:

When: 07 Jan 13 18:12
Donny it was accidental at best, instinctive reaction at worst, not sure where you're coming from here
By:
donny osmond
When: 07 Jan 13 18:12
i'm not , i focussed on scholes on saturday and suarez on sunday

part of my ongoing highlite how bad the refs are

i could complain about shola getting booked for something the ref never saw, but then i'd be biased

and of course hes done it before

world cup quarter final... so no doubt about his train of thought .....

and referencing Diego Maradona's goal against England in 1986, Suarez said: "Mine is the real 'Hand Of God'. I made the save of the tournament."

While Maradona punched home a goal as Argentina beat England 2-1 in the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals, saying it had been scored "a little with the hand of God", Suarez reacted to push out a certain goal and then watched as Ghana missed the resultant penalty with the last kick of the extra time.

"Sometimes in training I play goalkeeper so it was worth it," the 23-year-old said.

"There was no alternative but for me to do that and when they missed the penalty I thought 'It is a miracle and we are alive in the tournament'," added the striker.[

He broke no rules and kept them in the world cup. If hes didnt do that then he is a fool.

He gave away a penalty which he was entitled to do.
