He was a pr1ck for kicking the ball at them. I am not comfortable with players walking off the pitch in protest. Noboady should be allowed on or off the pitch without the referees permision. It is up to the referee to call the game off, not Prince-Boateng.
This may set a precedence whereby players can look to get a game abandoned (that they are losing) by claiming the fans are racially abusing them. |

By:
England should have left the field against Spain in that friendly.
By:
I disagree Cuban.
I'm fully in favour of it, for the fact that it has clearly highlighted the issue more. The referee would've done f*ck all. Can't be anything more embarrassing for the racist fans who abused him, than seeing the game called off, their own fans booing them because of their actions and their club in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. |

By:
to be fair i would play a game getting called milky for 60 grand
these players can easily retire if not happy |
By:
was there animal noise chanting
By:
Maybe this could be the catalyst for action to take place...Up until now the governing bodies have been happy to sweep it under the carpet as much as possible with cheap fines...If other players now do the same and leave the pitch after receiving abuse, they will have no choice, such as a high profile game
By:
players wont do it in high profile games as it will risk them losing bonuses etc

I strongly agree with the above comment. By shaming the rascist, this can help change opinions and eventually everyone will turn on the scum chanting racists. |

kellydamo,
Please explain and help educate me if I am a biggest pr1ck on here. |

dont be silly, if someone called me a white ****, a honkey or milky id laugh my pants off...
Easy to say,However it might be different in a situation where a bunch of skinheads are verbally abusing you for no reason other that the color of your skin. I am sure this might be intimidating and over a career Im sure you would not just feel you should have to laugh it off. IMO he was 100% correct to do what he did. |
By:
why dont they show a stance then and walk of when it happens in high profile games.they wont risk the bonus win etc
By:
That may happen and this might be a Precedent for it.
By:
So what happens under the "incitement to riot" Law if he lashed a ball into a crowd and it all went off afterwards ??
By:
Boateng quite rightly thought, "fụck it, I don't have to put up with this" and walked off. His team-mates followed him. No-one cared how the referee would react or what precedent might be set or how a white man might react to being called "honky".
There is no "they". A black man was getting abuse for the colour of his skin. He had no agenda. He merely exercised his freedom to walk away. Kicking a ball at someone is a sign of frustration not an incitement to riot. |
By:
by they i mean anyone abused white , black or yellow
if they wanted to show a stance they have plenty time to do it in big games but they wont |
By:
they are footballers
By:
again with the "they".
This is about how Kevin Prince Boateng reacted - not "they". |
By:
racists 1 football 0
By:
alright well he showed real class by booting a ball at fans
an eye for an eye doesnt work |
By:
Maybe he could have handled it differently, I'm sure he just got fed up and lashed out.
Then again why should anyone have to listen to mindless racist idiots wheter your paid £100 a week or 60k a week. |
By:
havent seen the incident but if he kicked the ball at a crowd of racist thugs he,s either very brave or there was a big fence
By:
Don't think he would have tried it if Milan were away to Red star Belgrade....
By:
Alot of cretins on thread...no time or energy to work through them but you know who you are.

Players calling a game off/walking off the field is wrong. They are there to play they aren't the cops.
IMO the best way to confront this issue is through education and a big stick. PPL that believe it is OK to be racist are clearly not living in todays world, in saying that, we also need to understand that racism has been around for more than 2 minutes and in less than 2 minutes we expect everyone to be nonracist and living to our own "standards" and that's simply not the reality of how society works, it's a problem that is going to take more than 2 minutes to solve. A group of supporters scream out monkey chants............GREAT, I'll use Spain as an example. Their supporters are banned from all games for 2 yrs. All home games r played in closed stadiums. The last few yrs are probably not the best time to banned from watching Spain play live. Handing out a small, slap on the wrist fine to an FA is meaningless. Any/All FA's can't control the crowd...........An empty stadium sends a message loud and clear to all not just the supporters of the punished team. |

Powerfan - he didn't call the game off, he walked off when abused. The ref wasn't doing anything, neither were the cops nor UEFA in the past. Would be interesting to see what would happen if it was a competitive game though.

By:
Berto, His job is to play football. He wasnt abused by other players he was abused by the crowd. That's like working in the rain.
He can tell his boss he doesn't want to work in these conditions and be removed from the field. He can ask team management to relay his concerns to the Italian FA and they can act on his behalf. Actions or lack there of by FIFA, UEFA and all the different FA's is something that needs to be addressed via players union/fans/politicians.....not by a player picking up the football. |
By:
Being racially abused is not like working in the rain and he acted as a man, not an employee.
By:
If you were working on a supermarket checkout and a customer was screaming racial abuse at you, would you continue to serve them?
By:
You need an example he can relate to berto..if you were going to collect your dole money and the guy was screaming abuse at you...
By:
Strange analogy
He wasnt abused by other players he was abused by the crowd. That's like working in the rain. comparing working in the rain with racist abuse. |
By:
If i were a employee and i retaliated by throwing a missile back at someone would there be no reprecussions over the action??
BTW, I agree he had every right to walk off the field after suffering Racial abuse, just think that launching a ball into the crowd could have had consequences |
