Anyone else thinking there was an element of a fix to this game? With Fergie, Pardew and possibly even the referee involved.
The two managers probably got together beforehand and agreed on a narrow Manure win, panned out in a way that made Newcastle look worldclass and full of confidence going into their upcoming fixtures. Fergie would have been happy with this arrangement as he could rest players (falsely claiming they were injured), avoid injuries in the game by playing in first gear and even give both his OAPs (Scholes and Giggs) a start. May seem far fetched, but I can just see the headlines in the press a few years after Fergie retires exposing him as a serial "fixer" who threatened both oppossing managers and referee's into fixing games. His reputation and achievements would be de-credited in a massive scandal bigger than that of Lance Armstrong. |
