The planets all line up on the 21st December, and apparently this is what is going to cause a huge distaster ... plates in the earth also being predicted to shift which would cause the tsunami.

Well I'm sure you won't take offence if I take the word of Nasa over that of a betfair forumite!

I do always consider it healthy however to keep in mind that we are living on a big rock spinning through space. Helps keep things in perspective I find.

Nostradamus predicted july 1999 as doomsday never picked a particular day. As a follower of the word of God I am more concerned with what the bible has too say.

World Wars, famine in Africa, Seismic activity increasing year on year, rioting all over the globe recently would indicate we are at the beginning of the end.

So there you have it "the big one" a quake that will level cities and mountains and islands will disappear beneath oceans.

exactly - we are supposed to believe that they could predict the end of the world and yet they couldn't predict the end of their own civilisation.

maybe if they were still around there would be a new mayan calendar starting on the 22nd december, just as we are predicting the end of the world on 31st december (the end of our calendar) but because we are still around, we have a new calendar beginning on 1st january 2013.
