Indeed, they are probably the poorest team of the group winners so far but they will step it up in Feb no doubt. It doesn't matter too much. I would prefer Juventus but feeling it will be PSG

Great time, remember he 1981 tie well, Tam Burns was excellent, the Jungle gave Liam Brday a great reception who was in the Juventus team, alongside Tardelli, the atmosphere was incredible, same result on the night would do.

Why do they see Juventus as a great tie? I suppose they mean the glamour aspect of it from their part and not their chances of getting through to the next round which is about zero.

undee FC operations manager Jim Thomson said that his staff were shocked at some of the behaviour by an element of the travelling support on Wednesday night.
He added: "There was widespread drunkenness, and I mean widespread, within the Celtic support. We were confiscating drink from supporters in the concourse leading to the turnstiles. They were clearly drunk coming in and we had a decision to make on whether we let them in and we took the decision that we had to let them in because we would have had other consequences if we didn't.
"Once in, they were abusing our turnstile staff, our canteen staff and even fighting among themselves, and I mean serious disorder within the concourse. All in all it was just not a nice experience. In the 20 years I've been organising games here at Dens Park I have never seen anything like that - it was a throwback to the 70s that we are all probably ashamed of.
"I would say that the scheduling of the fixture (it was televised on ESPN with a 7.30pm kick-off) didn't help. Nonetheless, I don't want to make light of it, but I can have a skinful but I'm not going to go and behave like people did last night. It's just not acceptable."

Yes there were several people who had perhaps over done the festive swally, but it was Boxing Day night ffs I cannot be certain of this, but I was under the impression only 4 arrests made in away end, which is less than were made in your local that night
The atmosphere was NOT toxic however, and I can assure you 100% that I have attended many a game over the years that I would rate a more hostile environment, and most of them were not even in Scotland

Sport Football Football News Rangers FC By Ian Orr Rangers deny telling Fran Sandaza not to bless himself at Ibrox
28 Dec 2012 00:01 THE striker told a Spanish paper he had been advised not to make the sign of the cross, but the club are adamant they had no influence on Sandaza's decision.
RANGERS have vehemently denied telling Fran Sandaza not to bless himself before matches at Ibrox.
In an interview with Spanish paper AS the former St Johnstone hitman revealed he was “advised” not to make the sign of the cross.
Sandaza, who joined Rangers in August, said: “Am I a Catholic? I’m not talking about that. Is it strange to play for a Protestant club? That is not something football should be concerned about.
“But on my first day I was advised not to cross myself before matches.
“It’s not a subject that worries me too much. I’m at Rangers, a historic club and one that will return to the highest level very soon.”
However, Rangers are adamant the club had no influence on Sandaza’s decision not to display his religious beliefs.
An Ibrox source told Record Sport last night: “It has never been the club’s policy to advise players on this type of thing and it never will be.”
Rangers were also keen to point out that former stars such as Lorenzo Amoruso and Shota Arveladze regularly blessed themselves during their time at Ibrox.

pers flared at Wednesday’s SPL match amid reports of widespread drunkenness among the away support, including fans fighting between themselves and abusing staff.
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “We are very proud that Celtic supporters enjoy such a great reputation and it is therefore extremely disappointing that the behaviour of a small minority has tarnished the good name of the club and our fans in this way.
“Clearly, we apologise to Dundee Football Club – we will work with them and look into any incident which is raised and if we can identify any individuals involved, we will obviously take the strongest possible action.
“We have received a number of complaints from our own supporters about the conduct of this minority – we cannot allow our supporters’ enjoyment of our matches to be affected in this way and we will not sit and allow the club’s reputation to be damaged.
“Our supporters over many years have earned a fantastic reputation for positively supporting the club – we will not allow this to be taken from them.
“It is time for all our true supporters who care about Celtic to unite with the club and find a solution to this problem.”
Dundee FC officials blamed the evening kick-off for the chaotic scenes.
Jim Thomson, the operations manager at Dundee FC, said the behaviour of a section of the away support was like a “throwback to the 1970s”.
He said: “I have never seen anything like the behaviour of the Celtic fans in the 20 years I have been running games at Dens Park.
“The situation was almost unmanageable and I have never seen so many people drunk.
“Our fans were abused, our stewards were abused and no doubt the police were abused. The turnstile operators were visibly shaken.
“The away fans had no respect for their surroundings — they were doing the toilet where they stood.
“I had Celtic fans come up to me to tell me they were ‘embarrassed’ by their fans’ behaviour.”
Mr Thomson blamed the late kick-off of the game – which Celtic won 2-0 and which was broadcast live on ESPN.
He said: “The game should never have kicked off at 7.30pm on Boxing Day – it gave the supporters too much time to get drunk.
“Everyone knows this time was chosen to fit in with the TV schedule but the atmosphere at the game was frightening.”
A Tayside Police spokeswoman said a number of people are to be reported to the procurator fiscal for alleged football-related offences.

John2 days ago many of these posts seem to miss the point, on a number of fronts ... it matters not who these individuals support or what time a game kicks off at, it is about individual responsibility and respect, for themselves and for others ... those who transgressed are responsible for their actions and should suffer the consequences ... it is time football supporters, not just here in scotland, to grow up ... i have attended professional hockey games in canada and professional football and soccer games in america, where you can enjoy a pint or two or three, be sat beside someone supporting the other team, and there is rarely ever, and if so, it is dealt with swiftly, an incident ... and am not talking about a few thousand at dens park to watch an otherwise woeful sporting product, rather 20 odd thousand at a hockey game and 80 odd thousand at an american football match, shame on those who did what they did and ditto on those who make excuses, and shame on those who blame the police ... JOHN4 days ago The reason that Unied are not anti-catholic is that they were Dundee Hibs. They are a neutral club, as are Dundee, however there always a few bigots in all clubs. We had problems at East End the last time Celtic came. The police refused to take action agaist their abusive chanting. I complained to an officer of the law, and all I got out of him (in a Glaswegian accent) was that he did not hear them say anything wrong. I am afraid that we supporters of provincial clubs have no voice compared to the Glaswegian Bigot Brothers. Reply 1 reply +1

John Jones4 days ago Another nice little reminder of why Old Firm people who think the English Premier League is just gagging to see Celtic and Rangers playing down south are simply away with the fairies.
Back in reality-land most EPL clubs consistently oppose such a move. One reason is that no-one wants to import the toxic and very 19th-century prejudices of some of the Old Firm's fans into England's 21st-century towns and cities. Can you imagine? One lot of blokes still re-fighting the battle of the Boyne and singing songs baiting Catholics? On the other side guys singing pro-IRA ditties (and, if the match was just before 11 November, every chance that tens of thousands of working-class English football followers at a stadium would be treated to the sight of see Celtic fans purposely denigrating the Remembrance rituals, effectively emulating those lovely Asian gentlemen who nearly caused a riot in Luton.)
Why on earth would sensible, secular-minded English people want a piece of THAT? Reply 1 reply +1
Dreddi4 days ago If the Old Firm were to play in England it would be absolute carnage but it wouldn't just be the Scots fault. The fans of every English team with a reputation for disoder would without doubt look towards these fixtures as an opportunity to cause trouble. It would like being back in the Dark Ages. Reply 0
Hoops fan4 days ago What can I say,....I was amongst the away support at Dens on Boxing Day and yes, a few people had 'one too many' but i did not see any fighting, abuse etc etc. most of the Celtic fans I have spoken to on FB & Twitter were not aware of any fighting, abuse etc. There are always a few idiots who spoil things at every game but this should not tarnish the reputation of our fans! Every single club has a minority like this, Dundee included. Perhaps if Mr Thomson thinks this is unmanageable, he should give up!

Dee4life4 days ago I am a Dundee season ticket holder and take my children to all home games, i thought initially the crowd banter was fantastic and all very light hearted but this seemed to change when the fireworks were set off and it was clearly visible that the authorities did not have much of a clue what to do, The behaviour of the MINORITY of celtic fans was appalling and led me to leave early through concerns for the safety of my children as we have to walk through the away support to get home. I would agree that the late kick off during a festive period did not help matters but i would also like to point out that during the recent Derby game there seemed to be a greater police/steward presence in the away stand than against Celtic and it is common knowledge that celtic ALWAYS have a large travelling support. I hope for all the true Celtic fans out there that they manage to weed out these so called fans and do not have there name dragged through the mud again, after all clubs like Dundee rely on big travelling support to help us balance the books. Come on the dee !!! Reply 0

They sing Irish songs which are the non IRA variety but ignorant folk like yourself hear an Irish ditty, you dislike it & then churn out a load of rubbish saying it's pro-IRA. They have not displayed Pro-IRA banners. One time they produced a banner against the wearing of poppies because of the atrocities imposed on the Irish by the British forces. You can argue that should have no place at a football game but free speech is a right. Then again, this is the country where the police cautioned Artur Boruc for blessing himself at Ibrox!!!
