I dont think its that funny to suggest Udinese as possibly a better side than Liverpool. Their problem is more to do with them not really caring all that much but against bigger names they should do...I willing to take Liverpool on at that joke price

Liverpool are just a bad team who cannot score 2 or more

Not in this competition. 10 goals in the 5 group games so far and 2 or more in 3 of the 5 games.

Of course all those Liverpool fans steaming into odds on prices realise that there's a good chance that a draw will be good enough for them to go through? I mean, you did didn't you? Whoops

Im not backing us. Road to the poor house imo. Dont think there are too many or our lads on here that back us very often.

good point CJ70

If it is 0-0, 1-1 late on,can't see Liverpool risking much to win

Thye might not even need a draw

Udinese are nowhere near the team they were a few seasons ago with Sanchez etc

They are poor now and they do not care about the Europa league AT ALL.

I think most people realise that btw CJ... but you have to factor in that it doesnt matter what Anzhi do as they are already through. Will they be fielding a full strength side? Almost certainly not.

Anzhi aren't already through. If Young Boys beat them 2-0 and Liverpool win they are out on goals scored. In that regard and knowing they want to top the group Hiddink will be sending a strong squad to Switzerland.

Anzhi will settle for a draw and I don't see Young Boys having the power to stop them.

Anzhi are through.

If what you posted happened, Young boys would lose out in a 3 way h2h

If we all end up on 10 points, the H2H between the 3 leave the positions as

1. 7pts Liverpool
2. 6pts Anzi
3. 4pts Young Boys

Unfortunately for YBs, their 2 wins have come against Udinese which have no bearing on the H2H

Bizarrely Young boys could win tonight and go out (if Liverpool win too)..............however they could lose and still go through (if liverpool also lose).

if they both lose surely Liverpool win H2H

You are of course right was getting ahead of myself. They need to beat Anzhi 3-0 for Anzhi to go out on goal difference.

Isn't the H2H just between the two sides not cumulative?

no because then Udinese would have the same points so it's a 3 way h2h and liverpool would lose out to YB

I was reasonably confident until a minute or so ago Laugh

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings

1.higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;
2.superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;
3.higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question;

On a 3 way H2H you drop the results v the 4th team

So Udinese can't go through as they would only have 6pts

Liverpool would have 4 (v Anzi +YB)

YB would also have  7 ( v Liver + Udi)

So YB would bet Udinese on direct H2H

For those struggling, even despite biscuits attempts, this explains it quite clearly:

With head-to-head the first tie-breaker in the Europa League, it means that if Young Boys beat an already advanced Anzhi while Liverpool defeat already demoted Udinese, all three would be level on ten points and the group would be decided by the records of the three clubs only against each other—in short, the points earned against Udinese wouldn't count, but Liverpool would need to beat Udinese to get things to the point where those points wouldn't count.

If that were to happen, Liverpool and Anzhi would advance—Liverpool thanks to a win and a draw against Young Boys and one win and one loss against Anzhi putting them on seven mini group points, while Anzhi would have six points thanks to a win and a loss against both other sides. That would leave Young Boys with a win and a loss against Anzhi, but with a loss and draw in their head-to-head with Liverpool their point total when taking only the three level sides into account would be four. Meanwhile, if both of the final matches end in a draw and Liverpool remain level on points with only Young Boys, the head-to-head tiebreaker again hands the advantage to Liverpool.

However, if both sides lose it would mean Udinese would draw level on seven points with Liverpool and Young Boys, once again resulting in advancement being determined on the basis of only the three level clubs' records against each other—and with Anzhi well clear of the congestion. In that situation, Liverpool's two defeats at the hands of Uidinese along with a win and draw against Young Boys would leave them on only four points in the mini group. Udinese would be on six thanks to their two victories over Liverpool while Young Boys would be through with two victories over the Italians and a draw with Liverpool giving them seven points.

In short, things aren't all that much different for Liverpool now than they were before Thursday's draw, as qualification still boils down to the same thing—just win. Win and Liverpool are through, no matter what happens elsewhere. It would have been nice, though, for Rodgers to be able to leave the big names at home on the sixth of December.

There could be opportunities in the To Qualify market while these games are on, as it is unlikely the average punter will have a good grasp of this or have done research. Ideally Liverpool would be 1-0 down but YB 0-3 down themselves .A lot of people , having seen Liverpool above YB in the pre match table ,would happily back Liverpool at any odds at all.

The Euro 2012 Top Scorer was a goldmine with all the people backing Torres at Evens when he actually had about 5 minutes to score a goal to win it

I spent a good while this morning working out all the possible results and still got the three-way tie wrong. As unlikely as it is to happen that could well be a goldmine.

By:
Biscuit1979
When: 06 Dec 12 14:39
It's been a long standing forum question and has become something of a myth but week after week, game after game, who the f*ck backs Liverpool at these stupid prices?

Is it asian money that drives down their price to a stupid level most games?
By:
cob316
When: 06 Dec 12 15:06
Really biscuit I though it was deluded scousers who spunk their Giro's on Liverpool, surely that big money is what forces the price down!

Its bizarre biscuit..... can only assume it is overseas punters. Surely anybody with a modicum of football and betting knowledge can see we are too short in almost every game. Think you are right with Asia.
By:
Biscuit1979
When: 06 Dec 12 15:18
Well i've always thought (someone can correct me i'm sure) that Asian markets formed a price and the rest of the world usually fell in line with their markets.

So if that is the case, you'd expect them to be a bit shrewder and not have them at a wrong price so often.

I think kenilworth said on his thread they are consistenly the side that offer the worst betting returns
