Anyone who thinks that he was bad at buying players is clueless. In my opinion of course.
No Manager has a perfect record. Easy to mention a couple of duds for anybody. |
By:
He signed 76 players and maybe 3 or 4 turned out to be a good deal

I'm a Villa fan and desperately wanted Rafa but knew deep down he wouldn't come. He ha one of the best CV's in football:-
Manager Real Madrid U-19s Spain U-19 League (1): 1992–93 Spain U-19 Cup (2): 1990–91, 1992–93 Extremadura Segunda División Promotion (1): 1997–98 Tenerife Segunda División (1): 2000–01 Valencia La Liga (2): 2001–02, 2003–04 UEFA Cup (1): 2003–04 Liverpool FA Cup (1): 2005–06 FA Community Shield (1): 2006 UEFA Champions League (1): 2004–05 UEFA Super Cup (1): 2005 Internazionale Supercoppa Italiana (1): 2010 FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2010 Individual awards Don Balón Award (1): 2002 UEFA Manager of the Year (2): 2003–04, 2004–05 Premier League Manager of the Month (5): November 2005, December 2005, January 2007, October 2008, March 2009 |

Just laid Benitez for a tenner- can't lose.
I either get to win £10 or to pi55 my pants laughing. |
By:
He also lost money on very few signings. He actually has made the club money on his signings or very close to it.

garcia scored reasonably important goal tbf
By:
sissoko was a good player too imo
By:
Arbeloa!?!?
By:
When he spent big he got it right more times then not. When your signing players at basement bargain prices there is going to be a lot of duds.
By:
el zhar, nunez , kromkamp, who? bellamy, Pacheco, fowler, voronin ,leto, pennat, plessis ,insua, babel, ngog ,dossena, degen, keane , cavaliere, riera, kyrgiakos, waterboy, barragan, Pellegrino, morientes, carson, zenden , also just an opinion and I respect anyone's who wont agree with me but he had a shocker transfer wise, but tbh with chesea no way he will be signing these 2-5 million players and his track record with big money deals is not so bad
By:
he is a good manager but he doesnt play the style of football chelsea's owner wants
By:
It's arry grab the free money
By:
Benitez was a clueless manager imo, he was also destroyed mentally by SAF, I doubt Benitez will ever come back to the premier league because he fears getting owned by SAF again.
By:
No middle ground with Benitez signings.
Arbeloa deserves bold. Reina- Arbeloa, Skrtel, Masch, Agger- Kuyt, Alonso, Lucas, Garcia- Torres, Bellamy Bench- Cavalieri, Barragan, Kelly, Sissokho, Aurelio, Crouch, Benayoun That's a good team. |
By:
No Sterling,Suso and Shelvey on that list??

Anyone saying Benitez was not a good manager is either fishing or clueless, he's problem was he became stale at Liverpool after becoming disheartened with the way the club was being run, at Inter Milan he was on a hiding to nothing taking over a treble winning side that mourinho had exhausted, most of the players there were older pros. He'd do a good job at a club like Madrid or Milan, but it'll be de ja vu if he gets the Chelski job which I seriously doubt he would,

By:
every manager will sign some clowns if in charge long enough.
Fergie signed plenty too |
By:
I vote BCM2 to be next Chelsea manager :)
By:
i think most likely rafa or someone else will get interim manager for the rest of the season. once they are in charge for 10 consecutive league games the market will pay out. check the rules, it is not necessarily the next permanent manager. I reckon next permanent manager will be at end of season
By:
Mesmerised, that list was exactly what i was talking about. Had money and blew most of it on total rubbish.
CCM, typical Liverpool fan, you lot can't see beyond the front of your nose. As for Benitez being the Villa manager, totally unsuitable, clearly anyone who wanted this mug has no idea of the financial contraints that he'd have to work under, and what little he would be given he'd have wasted. Lambert will do us fine in time. |

Rafa is a clown
By:
he signed some crap players, but fergie signs the likes of djemba djemba, cleverely, bebe, anderson, obertan, gibson,
By:
how many managers have fallen as a result of roman's failure to write off the £80m he personally blew on torres and shevchenko? 3 on torres so far anyway. he should stand back and trust someone else manage to his money for him for a change, like the new manager perhaps. a fool and his money.........

Doesn't cleverley play for England??
By:
yes after 13 united appearances he got a game for England - and so does shawcross play for England.![]() |
By:
Only a complete walloper would think that Cleverley, Obertan, Anderson and Bebe are terrible players. All of them are good players especially Cleverley who imo will be one of England/Uniteds best players in years to come. He is far better than that thug Jack Wilshere, if England want to become a world class team then they need to build it around Clev because he can become a VERY good player.

By:
bebe is absolute gash. dodgy goings-on in that deal with the agent methinks
Chelsea will not play 10 league games til mid january |
By:
Cleverley better then Wilshere??Oh Lord
By:
A Rafa Benitez thread always brings alot of muglets to the dance! #FACT
By:
Of course Clev is better than Wilshere.
Wilshere has been horrific since his return and will never be the same player he was before his injury, he'll probably be sold to some mug team like QPR in a few years time. |

Only a complete walloper would think that Cleverley, Obertan, Anderson and Bebe are terrible players. All of them are good players Bebe is so good that he didn't even make the subs bench in United's reserve squad for the Galatasaray match |

I struggle to take Manchester United fans from LEICESTER seriously

big money on rafa now at 1.6

By:
Rafa won't go to Chelsea. He still drives round anfield with tears in his eyes and has LFC tattooed on his chest.
A truly great manager pool have been complete s hit since he went |

By:
Market is suggesting it is a done deal.
