every old gambler here you would tell you how easy was to made money
huge liquidity no pc charges no betfair bots , less user bots , more mugs that was betting on any odd. now it is so difficult to find some real value. |
|
By:
you need to find a proper job which might be difficult granted
|
|
By:
do you have discipline though alex? chasing is a sign of lacking discipline. i'm trying to learn not to do it.
|
|
By:
yes most markets are amazingly efficient, but still there is value to be found although difficult
|
|
By:
yes i have but sometimes that lost medium like the 1.8k on u4.5 searching for chase, it happens very seldom and the most times finish with tears.
i have to stop betting like this and just concentrate on u4.5 o2.5 that is profitable so far. |

if you have a job its no big deal

Can I ask why you would risk 3 months worth of profits in one game?

I saw a great video on the benefits of Forex Trading. They call new entrants to the business Shark bait! If these traders are so successful why do they feel the need to teach us how to do it? Further if we got golf lessons off Tiger Woods we still wouldn't earn $100 million!
Another inportant lesson was to only take what the market gives you. Dont try and force a win out of nothing. Some people need to understand what we do on here is gamble, call it calculated risk if you like but like Forex Traders, Stock Pickers, Hedge Funds it is gambling. Unlike most in the Financial Markets we bet with our own money and generally cannot fix anything. Taking a small punt on long odds is a gamble but the risk of losing is accepted. Risking large sums on illiquid markets is crazy and betting with a big downside and small upside is for those with deep deep pockets. I don't think it is about luck Alex. It is bad risk management. People hit the bar, score in extra extra time etc etc that's gambling but swings and roundabouts are accepted parts of the gamble. If you lost 3 months profit it is not the end of the world. My mate put £2,000 cash in a piant tin then threw it into a skip a few days later without realising. He calmed himself down by having a pot noodle. it's only money. Play prudent and win it back. Good luck to you. Oh and just in case you think I am a smart arse who has never done it before...let him without sin cast the first stone! I have learnt to manage my losses much better since. It is more important than managing winnings. |

Yeah I recognize things you say. The difficult part, however, is to "clear your mind". Bad losses keep haunting you.. |

Colonel,
I do a job to keep me grounded, get out of the house, not sit at pc every waking moment, to realise that I bet more than a days wages, sometimes a weeks wages on a single bet so not to make stupid bets without risk calculation. Gambling is dangerous and needs a release otherwise apart from the obvious downside it is just another job and I become a wage slave. I gamble obviously because I like it but also because I dont want to "work" for a living. I am not a slave to the job or gambling.....yet" |

mebbe Alexander been very unlucky. If I was in his position and I was full time I'd quit and try and use his electronics background to get a job before it really is too late.

Clyde,
luck doesn't come into it. Banks spend £100 to make a pound. We bet a pound to make a £100. Thats why banks have all the money ( also because they have bent politicians in their pockets ). There's no such thing as a lucky gambler.....over time. Electronic markets have evened the playing field for us but successful gamblers are good at risk management not lucky. |

yes most markets are amazingly efficient, but still there is value to be found although difficult Most markets aren't amazingly efficient, that's a myth! I suppose you will want an example now! ok, just the one ![]() Barca v Celta Vigo at the weekend Barca 1/11 on here (1/10 Billy's) if anyone thinks that's value Celta Vigo 37/1 here (same as Quack with less commission) if anyone thinks that's value. Badcrooks go 16/1, 25/1 highest bookie however my personal favorite - Draw No Bet on here 33/1 (ie a higher price than all the bookies in the win only market!) but if that's not enough value for you then there is another exchange where it's currently available at 42.0. There's also no way Celta Draw no Bet is a 2.96% probability (as represented by the 33/1), try doubling it and it would be closer ![]() |

Colonel,
I am out of the rat race job wise. I work part time at night so have plenty of time. I am not a " professional " gambler and certainly not smart or disciplined enough to trade sports markets ( in a financial trader sort of way ). I love sports so for me it is fun and a way out of a proper job as I have a small mortgage. I have made plenty of financial mistakes in my life. I am a baby boomer, one of Thatchers children if you like. I have escaped from the darkside to a certain extent. I have realised I can make a living from sports betting and seeing as I love sports it works for me right now. The biggest thing I have learned is to control losses just like in the financial markets and keep a good reserve just like a General, marshall my forces and hit when things are in my favour not when I need to make money. I have wondered about full time gambling and feel it is dangerous for me like drugs and alcohol but the biggest thing is I dont want to be addicted to anything. A slave is a slave. Gold bars on a prison cell make no difference to me. My betting style strength is to play the long game and keep away from going for the big one. Farming not hunting, I am not an archetypal alpha male so my gambling style is farming not hunting. |

Ldee,
The tale of woe was too long to write about. His bird moved house and dumped her stuff in his industrial unit. He couldn't work but sold a car and put the money in the paint tin. He put the paint tin in the unit. A couple of days later he tried clearing soome space, picked up what he thought was an empty paint tin and chucked it in the skip. The skip whch had been there for 3 months was collected that very day so when he realised his miastake the skip was already gone. there is more to the story but I don't want to bore you anymore. Anyway he said his way of calming down was to have a pot noodle so my message to Alex was dont worry it's only money! |
