City are currently trading at 1.93 to back, they have drifted quite a bit from yesterday.
Anyone know why this to be the case? I'd have thought that 1.93 against Ajax is a decent enough price, no?

Man City are relatively new to this level of football and it looks that way. Torn apart by Madrid and Dortmund, missing Silva, drifting to a more realistic price away to a club with lots of top level experience and a young team that will raise their game. English top clubs have hardly set the world alight with great football, hugely over rated after an extremely lucky Chelsea win last season. Man City have to win tonight so should be an interesting game to see if they are together enough to raise their game. 2.1 would be a fair price

Now which is it? A lot of experience or a team full of youngsters?  To be honest, I think Ajax could be demolished tonight. But ONLY if Manchester City don't sleep through the first half as they often seem to do; and Roberto Mancini find a pair of ... lets his side play offensively. Manchester City are still at least half a dozen players away from being a 'world class' side, but against a poor Ajax outfit they really shouldn't have too much trouble if they play to their ability. If they score early, chances are heads will go down very quickly in the Ajax camp. |

Nothing wrong with it at all. It just adds absolutely nothing to the quality of the players in the current squad. It's not like they perform better at Ajax than they would playing for, shall we say, Bolton Wanderers.
 All in all, I think it's going to come down to Manchester City's attitude. If they are prepared to roll up their sleeves and put some effort into it, they should win easiy. Dortmund had 13 shots on target against Ajax, Real Madrid had 16. Surely the Manchester City strikers will put a couple past the Ajax goalkeeper if they are allowed to shoot that often? |

It does make a huge difference what club they play for for many reasons that an average punter is unaware of or ignores. If you put the list of Celtic players out under the name Bolton wanderers you can be sure there would be a different belief mentality in the players and also for their opponents. Man City fans are getting used to these occasions also and the energy and belief they have is along way off Man Utd, this is also a factor in effecting their performance. I think tonight Man City have to come of age at this level and i think they will but the price is still too skinny.

I don't think it matters much what badge they wear; at least not as much as it used to do. (The days of players like Matthew LeTissier have long gone.) Players are playing for club A instead of club B because club A pays better wages, and maybe because there's a better chance of competing for prizes.
The coherency in a team, the willingness to run a few extra yards to make amends for a teammate who has lost the ball in a silly position, that kind of thing makes a good team great in my opinion. I see them do it at Barcelona, the players in the Spanish and German national team do it. At most 'big' clubs, however, it's almost as though they feel that just because they are getting paid large sums of money, they are automatically good footballers. That is, of course, not the case. It's as much about attitude as it is about talent/skills and confidence. It is of course true that Manchester City are lacking European experience, and I certainly don't expect them to perform consistently at the level of teams who've been dictating European football for the last few decades. But I believe that if the current Ajax squad played in the Premier League today, they'd win less than a handful of games all season. European fixture or not, and especially considering their position in the group, I would expect Manchester City to beat such a team convincingly, both away or at home. I don't know why the odd has drifted so much, and I always wait for line-ups before I place a bet, but Ajax have only won 4 of 5 matches in the Eredivisie, a.k.a. the Mickey Mouse League. They've only kept a clean sheet three times. Surely the current English Premier League champions are too good to drop points against such a side? (If not, it must be fixed. ) |

Ajax are very poor, have been for many years. Man U (who weren't playing well at the time) p1ssed all over them in Amsterdam last season. Amsterdam is one of the softest venues in football, many sides win there. I know Man City have disappointed so far in Europe but if they can't win this, they really need to give up.

I don't see how you can all say man city are value tonight. They are a risky bet tonight. They will probably win but its still too much of a risk with so much more value in tonight's games.

City have looked poor this season. I'm very keen on biorhythms so I'm not convinced about them tonight. I think they are as good as last season, but as of yet, aren't playing as such.

The delusion of the Premier league quality continues, Ajax produce technically gifted players that premier league teams have to pay big money for, the dross Man city struggle to beat away every week don't have exceptional players but you will always find a couple of youngsters in the Ajax side that will go onto big things. Man City are a team with big problems, much pressure and a lot of average players. I would still back them at 2.1 though all being said, still make them faves but get some realistic perspective people.This team beat Man utd at old trafford last season.

Too much class and match winners in that Man City side for Ajax tonight. As previously stated Ajax Amsterdam quite an easy place to go.
Comfortable 2 or 3-0 for MC tonight. Nasri to be influential. My opinion of course. |
