Good evening chaps. Back for my annual foray into the world of Non-League betting in the Scottish FA cup 1st round proper. Now last year Rory from Edinburgh landed over 100 grand from Billyhells on a handicap accumulator. The bet was for certain teams to win by 4 goals or more. Wick, Huntly, Cove and a couple of others all obliged at odds of 4-1 to 9/1 to land loads of bets. No bookmaker has released anything except for match and double chance odds thus far and I dont expect them to do so. Therefore I am happy to put up my thoughts fairly early (I am on in various places anyway). What we are looking at is 6/1 trebles that should be more like 2/1.
TURRIFF EVENS (Paddddys) v Burntisland Shipyard. Turriff from the Highland League make their debut in the Scottish cup this weekend at home to the former Fife Amateur outfit Burntisland Shipyard who now ply their trade in the East of Scotland 1st Division. Turriff have a few injury problems but really should have little problem in disposing of a very moderate side. I think the odds compilers have reacted to Turrif losing their 1st couple of league games. However they have beaten high flying Cove in a cup tie already. The fifers are playing at a very low league standard and have hardly set the world on fire with 3 defeats from 4 league cup ties. The price is generally 8/13 but McBookie the local experts have Turrif at 4/9 and I agree.
CIVIL SERVICE 10/11 (Paddyyysss) v Newton Stewart Civil are from the East of Scotland premier league finishing mid table last season. Newton Stewart from the very weak South of Scotland League were one of the teams pumped in last seasons 1st round 6-1 from Huntly. Early season form does nothing to change my views on this one. Mcbookie make it a 4/7 shot.
SELKIRK 4/5 (Paddyyys) away to Glasgow University. Selkirk relegated from the EOS premier last year have started well this season. They travel to the Students who play in the 2nd tier of a Greater Glasgow Amateur league. The students were another link in last years fun losing 4-0 at home to Cove. McBookie make this one a 2/7 shot.
Nice treble already.
BONNYRIGG 1/2 (Paddddyys) home to Girvan. Battle of the Juniors. Bonnyrigg the East Superleague winners qualified to meet the West (3rd tier) struggling Girvan who are SFA members and dont have to win anything to qualify. Bonnyrigg have started well this season while Girvan have not. Girvan were relegated last season and have 5 losses and a draw thus far. McBookie have the home team at 1/8.
Lively Outsiders. ST CUTHBERT WANDERERS 11/4 (Billy Hells) at Edinburgh Uni Saints are one of the decent SOS teams and significantly won in the preliminary round (one of 2 games) at high flying highland league Keith. The students are decent and a midtable EOS premier team. However they have not one a scottish tie in 5 years. This is generally a 9/4 shot. I make it nearer 7/4.
PRESTON ATHLETIC 5/1 (Billy Hells) at home to Nairn County. Preston are also a mid table EOS premier team and are at home to a Highland League team who are probably in my opinion not as good as their position implies. Preston are 23/10 with McBookie and I have that about correct.
Of the other ties which I am not punting on some of the big differences are as follows. Fraserburgh 1/2 (Paddddyss) home to Coldstream are 1/4 elsewhere. Coldstream lost 9-1 last season at a similar standard Wick.
The most interesting tie of the round is Hawick Royal Albert from the EOS 1st against Golspie Sutherland from the Caledonian League up North. Hawick were the worst EOS team last season but have improved. Golspie who have a monumental journey are no better than a decent amateur team. Hawick are 2/5 with McBookie but 4/5 with PADDDYSSS. Believe it or not I have a large single on Hawick which has been allowed to stand with Ladcroookks who opened this morning at 16/5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is now 1/2. Clearly an error but I have an email confirming bet stands. (They actually voided another team in my double that were also wrongly priced under an excuse I wont go into).
I will add to this thread to answer questions or indeed add more info if more odds/markets become available.

Coldstream FC @cstreamfc1895 Fraserburgh miss a glorious opportunity to open the scoring - a chance from 6 yards headed off target by their striker. Still 0 - 0

Chris Millar @GUSAPresident It's kicking off here in the second half: 10th or 11th foul in last 10 minute spell. Selkirk manager is literally being restrained.

I would of had the treble plus the one he said he went balls deep on that lost, so not disappointed. Well done OP, though, saw the odds for that treble @ 7.65 this morning.

I did not have a view one way or other on Hawick. However Ladbrokkes opened at 16/5 what everone else had between 1/2 to Evens. Selkirk were also online at 13/5 as opposed to 8/13 roughly everywhere else. I had a large double before the system removed both games. They both ended up as 1/2 shots. Now my Selkirk v Glasgow Uni bet showed as Selkirk v Geelong !!!! They voided it and left my Hawick bet as a single (Did not notify me). I argued the case 3 times for the bet to stand. Usual argument was the game advertised is not being played. However finally I got an email also indicating the price was wrong (suprise suprise) but the Hawick match (Where price was also clearly wrong) was left as a single (Very odd but probably their compromise). Both these matches were also on a pre-printed coupon at 16/5 and 13/5 released to the shops in Scotland on Friday morning so they had days to spot any errors. If the double had come up I am sure I would have had a case at IBAS. As my good friend Wickerman PMd me recommending Golspie Sutherland I was in the rather nice position of having a large single on Hawick at 16/5 and the ability to play Gospie/Draw at over Evens elsewhere. I have had varying reports of people with shop receipts showing the huge prices until well into the afternoon in some shops. When I tested the theory in Dundee and St Andrews they printed 1/2. Anyone know how the tills work ???? My understanding is the prices changed around 10.30am.
Realised I had texted everyone on my phone once lashed on Friday night tipping Turrif,Selkirk,Civil,Bonnyrigg and Fraserburgh (Dont know why the last as were not on any of my lines). lots of happy bunnies. Interesting however they are not punters and virtually to a man placed £10 and £20accas in Ladcrooks which paid about half of what Paddyys did.
