Not sure that you should become too attached to the World record of league titles. May lose that one this year.

As for Manchester - hardly the finest hour for Rangers supporters.

Manchester riots: Scottish NOTW claims a 'Hooligans Inc' of British casuals guilty

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Graham McKendry and Kerry Harvey

(excerpt)

'WEDNESDAY’S horrific night of UEFA Cup violence was fuelled by rent-a-mobs from across England, it was claimed last night.

Crafty football casuals from clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United secretly donned Gers colours to deliberately hijack the event and wreak havoc.

And we can reveal police chiefs fear they got their preparations totally wrong — and have admitted their plan to accommodate travelling fans was woefully inadequate.

A senior police officer from Greater Manchester Police confessed: “It was a free-for-all. Hooligan elements from all over the country were there — and our plan wasn’t up to it.”

Today we can reveal that hooligan firms from all over England flocked to Manchester for the game — many of them known to cops and subject to football banning orders.

However, these measures could do NOTHING to stop the yobs travelling to the city for the clash. Troublemakers from Leicester City, Birmingham City, Oxford United, Millwall, Stockport County, Sheffield Wednesday and Chelsea were all involved in the rioting.

Hooligans attached to both Manchester sides — City and United — also helped trash their own city while battling cops AND Gers fans.

A member of the notorious Border City Firm — linked to Carlisle United — said fans’ internet message boards had been buzzing ahead of Wednesday’s final, and that the shameful ruck had been well planned.

He revealed: “That’s why people were seeing Rangers fans fighting Rangers fans. People from other clubs simply paid £25 for a Rangers top so they could blend in. It’s not rocket science.” '

the news of the world was famous for making up stories.(i'm aware that the then chairman of rangers had a few of them in his pocket).it's a well known fact that all the trouble was caused by rangers supporters, mostly by rangers supporters from northern ireland, there were very few, if any, casuals from any other football teams in britain there, although there were a good number of russians, about 200 looking for trouble. most of the trouble revolved around the fact that rangers supporters, especially from northern ireland hate man utd and therefore manchester.

A gang of 20 football fans who terrorised rail passengers with sectarian chanting is being sought by police.

Passengers on the Inverness to Glasgow train were subjected to rowdy behaviour, including sectarian chanting, on Sunday, December 4.

The group jumped on seats, banged on windows and were heard singing and chanting sectarian songs.

The supporters boarded the train at Dundee shortly after 7pm, after Celtic's victory over Dundee United.

British Transport Police constable Lorraine Lowe said: "Passengers and rail staff have the right to travel without the fear of encountering anti-social behaviour of this kind.

"I am anxious to speak with anyone who travelled on this train and has information regarding the identity of those involved.

"CCTV footage from the train will also be examined as part of the investigation. The train involved was the 3.27pm service which runs from Inverness to Glasgow Queen Street via Aberdeen."

Whilst the behaviour of other fans out with Glasgow isn't always squeaky clean it never seem to be as religion based and you never get that 'but look what our rivals have done' answer to when part of the support acts this way.

Why can't you just say people who do this are tits and let the proper supporters who behave (and I use that in the context of football fans, you do need some banter) down.

Report Feck N. Eejit August 21, 2012 11:46 AM BST
Falkirk have suspended their PA announcer for making "inappropriate" comments about Rangers at the weekend.

The Irn-Bru First Division side have also apologised to the Ibrox club and launched an investigation into the incident.

The stadium announcer reportedly referred to Rangers as "Sevco Franchise" when reading out half-time scores during the interval at Falkirk's game against Raith Rovers on Saturday.

The remarks make reference to Sevco Scotland, the name of the company who purchased the business and assets of Rangers in the summer after the club was consigned to liquidation.

Shareholders voted in favour of owners Sevco Scotland Limited changing its name to The Rangers Football Club Limited at an extraordinary general meeting in July.

A statement from chairman Martin Ritchie on Falkirk's official website read: "It has been brought to our attention that our PA announcer made some inappropriate comments about Rangers at half-time on Saturday.

"We have already apologised to Rangers FC and would now like to apologise to the many Rangers supporters who have been in contact with the club.

"Falkirk FC are treating this incident very seriously and the individual concerned has been suspended from his duties, pending a full investigation by the club."

Both clubs are set to face each other in the second round of the Ramsdens Cup tomorrow night at the Falkirk Stadium, before meeting again in the Scottish Communities League Cup at Ibrox next week.

When asked about the comments, Rangers manager Ally McCoist said: "I couldn't give a monkey's to be honest with you.

"If he wants to have a wee dig, he can have a wee dig. I don't have a problem with it at all.

"It's probably not the right thing to do, I'd have to say, but I've got far bigger things to worry about than that."
