Wondering if the 10/1 about Fulham going down this season is a decent price. I suppose the big question is can you name three theams who are definitely worst, but if last season told us anything anyone of 8-10 teams may have been dragged into a dogfight.

Just think they've lost a chunk of their spine in Murphy and Etuhu and they're lighter up top with the Russian and Johnson both leaving. They have made new signings but not players with Prem League experience and just think they could get dragged into the mire this term.

Cant see it RF, Swansea nailed on, there'll be two others worse than Fulham
Report berto77 August 15, 2012 9:41 AM BST
Weak league this year.  Fully agree with blackburn about Swansea.

I reckon relegation is between Reading, Swansea, Southampton, Wigan, West Brom and Norwich.  I think Fulham are an improving team and could finish top 10 if they hold onto Dembele and Dempsey.
Report Regular Fries August 15, 2012 9:45 AM BST
Yep, If they hold on to Dempsey and he plays to the same level as last season then they should get enough points. Time for Dembele to step up a gear.
Report blackburn1 August 15, 2012 9:46 AM BST
West Ham will be in the mix too, didn't look great last year and Allardyce under big pressure
Report 2dagmar August 15, 2012 9:47 AM BST
Not sure I agre on that, they have too much quality and good strong back 5. Will need a lot of bad luck/injuries.

Def 3 worse teams than Fulham even at 10s it presents no real value imo

martin jol is a shrewd cat fulham wont go down
Report dizzyfcuk August 15, 2012 10:46 AM BST
lol, no Fulham won't go down for ****
Report sonofshinner August 15, 2012 10:54 AM BST
think the spreads have got it right just above mid table.
Report Compensation Year August 15, 2012 11:03 AM BST
Dempsey & Dembele have only 1 year left on their contracts and both are likely to leave before the transfer window ends in a couple of weeks time. If you factor in the loss of the 4 players referred to by the OP then I think (sadly) that they will finish in the bottom half of the table this time round.

Hopefully Jol is shrewd enough to keep them clear of relegation.
Report EdwardWoowardWould August 15, 2012 11:03 AM BST
Not the worst bet imo but for me the value lies with Aston Vanilla

A club that always claim to be huge yet offer absolutely nothing to the Premiership or any of the cup comps imho

I can see them going tiits up this year and the manager being way out of his comfort zone

Bad season for Villa imho
Report WestWayStar August 15, 2012 11:11 AM BST
Cant see this happening to be fair.
Report HRH The Lager Khan August 15, 2012 11:50 AM BST
If Villa were going to drop, it would have been last season under McLeish. Bent injured, and the slowest back 4 I've ever seen in Hutton, Warnock, Dunne and Collins. Plus the fact most of the players looked bewildered by the manager and his tactics. I think they will do ok this time round.

If there is any value in the teams that normal hover round lower mid table safety doing what Bolton did last year, then the value must be 7-1 on Stoke. The leagues lowest scorers last year, and no new signing as of yet to put that right. Robert Huth to miss the first few games, and they have a nasty set of fixtures to begin with that could shape their season - Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool all in the first 8 games.
Report WestWayStar August 15, 2012 11:53 AM BST
Good post HRH,i agree can also see Stoke having a tough season this year.
Report duncan idaho August 15, 2012 2:32 PM BST
Stoke lost a fair few points on the back of tough European games last season...think they'll be alright myself
Report booyakasha August 15, 2012 2:34 PM BST
I would lay Fulham at 10/1 all day long. No chance they will go down
Report chica-guapa August 15, 2012 2:45 PM BST
Fulham were nearly backed every week at home last year = no chance, id be a layer @ 10/1 too !
Report findthevalue August 15, 2012 2:46 PM BST
Fulham are safe as houses under the astute management of martin jol, i just wish he was still at the lane Sad
Report asparagus August 15, 2012 3:12 PM BST
Norwich particularly and possibly Swansea are likely to struggle this year both having lost superb managers. Norwich squad looks very poor both at the back and up front. (the midfield is ok). Be very surprised if Fulham were dragged into it. Etuhu and Murphy are not big losses. Holding on to Dembele is important tho.
Report SirFresh August 15, 2012 3:24 PM BST
Hugo Rodallega has no Prem experience?

Petric has settled in well already and scored something like 5 in 6 pre season.

Fulham will be just fine.

Swansea, Wigan and one of the new boys (hopefully West Ham) to go down, imo.
Report Compensation Year August 15, 2012 3:30 PM BST
The loss of Etuhu and Murphy should not be underestimated, particularly the latter imo

The chances of Dembele staying are remote given that he has only 12 months left on his 3 year contract. Fulham simply cannot afford to let him run down his contract. Some of the big clubs are interested including RM
Report SirFresh August 15, 2012 3:32 PM BST
Not that I rate him, but they will probably sign Charlie Adam and he could do a decent enough job for them.
Report Compensation Year August 15, 2012 3:40 PM BST
Hope not - he can stay at Liverpool
Report asparagus August 15, 2012 3:40 PM BST
Etuhu started 9 league games for Fulham last season. I can't have it that he's a loss at all. He's never been anything other than very average. Murphy has been a class player but age undoubtedly started to catch up with him.
Report Compensation Year August 15, 2012 3:44 PM BST
To some extent youre right - but Etuhu was a good squad player, and although age is catching up with Murphy he has made Fulham tick over the past few years - you and many others continue to underestimate his value to FFC
Report Stan2 August 15, 2012 7:57 PM BST
i was waiting for it , the annual fulham-to-be-relegated thread  . some of you must like giving your money away .

top 9 certs if dembele and dempsey stay, top 12 certs regardless of who leaves or stays this summer window.
Report morpteh mackem August 15, 2012 8:04 PM BST
kin etuhu is s hite, surely gettin grid of him is a positive. no way will fulham be relegated.
Report asparagus August 15, 2012 9:22 PM BST
Compensation year, i agree with you to a large extent regarding Murphy but there comes a time when age catches up with everyone. Still can't have Etuhu tho.
Report Compensation Year August 15, 2012 10:09 PM BST
Yes, age has certainly caught up with me having watched Fulham for nearly 60 years.

My concern is that Murphy is not easily replaced given his experience and the loss of other midfield players at the same time is a worry.

There is not that much difference in terms of ability between 9th position in the league where FFC finished last season and the relegation scrap - and the guy above who suggests Dempsey & Dembele are staying is living in cloud cuckoo land imo. Happy to be proved wrong of course.
Report Compensation Year August 15, 2012 10:14 PM BST
morptem mackem - a bit of a sweeping statement I would suggest. Etuhu has been a decent squad player for a few years. To call him rubbish says more about you than about his ability imo
Report Can't Catch Me August 15, 2012 10:23 PM BST
Think there are easily three worse teams myself. Norwich my shoo in for the drop, and I think Swansea, West Brom and the 3 promoted teams are all much more likely to go down.
Report ShannonSpray August 15, 2012 11:54 PM BST
Fulham's consistent home record will keep them up. West Ham may struggle if they persevere with a long ball game.
Report morpteh mackem August 16, 2012 6:45 AM BST
compensation years, dont forget we had ethuhu at sunderland, ask any sunderland fan what think of him, he's garbage. please name any attribute he has aa a midfielder , could do with a laugh.
