I think with one or two more signings they will surprise a few.

Get rid of the jokers like Adam and I can see a top 4 position maybe.

Pick the one player you (and I) rated early doors contrary to popular opinion as proof you are some kind of super scout...... and conveniently forget about the others you've got wrong. I suppose you won't be mentioning your assessment of the likes of Aquilani who you said was going to be a great? Or was it that he just never got the chance?

I'm not saying Coates won't be a top player. I like what I've seen of him. but to suggest he is currently better than Agger (for whom he would be the natural replacement IMO) is just ridiculous.

Can you talk me through the team you wanted Rafa to play before. You know the one with a midfield of Babel, Plessis, Earring and El Zhar... That's the kind of technical chat I'd like.

My Danedam remark was tongue in cheek... And I said I'd give up punting, not the forum. Obviously something you didn't get. But then I imagine you have never seen a horse win, you didn't fancy, have you?

Couldn't call that bet dr. I think it will be closer than last year, but as Solano says, will all depend on what happens yet IMO. If RVP goes, I think we can run them very close, even if I do think Cazorla could prove to be the buy of the summer.

I think Liverpool will be worse this season, though might not necessarily finish lower or as bad, as Arsenal will be weaker again and i doubt Newcastle will be so good. God Knows what Spurs will be like either.
Report DAN1974 August 12, 2012 8:21 AM BST
We wont be worse, Allen and Borini are quality additions, Lucas is fit, he was a huge loss for us last season, Gerrard looks fit and sharp for the first time in in at least two years. As long as our two centre backs dont leave we will challenge for 4th imo.
Report Cubanpete August 12, 2012 9:29 AM BST
I think they will do better than people would expect by just looking at the team on paper. I think Southampton, West Ham and Norwich will go down so Liverpool should stay up.
Report sintonian August 12, 2012 9:34 AM BST
Liverpools biggest improvement this summer has to be getting rid of Kenny Dalglish imo.

But they had no Euro footy last season so you'd expect their injury list, due to more games, being a bit more of a headache.

Arsenals start to last season was their worst in something like 80 years, but a huge part of that was down to our late transfer dealings and HUGE injury list. Whether people take that on board is completely up to them, but thats what happened.

RvP will be a big loss if he goes, I personally not bothered at all, but there is a huge assumption being made that another striker wont score the goals. Our midfield create so many chances our striker, whoever they are, will be expected to get at least 18-20. RvP's outstanding quality got him to the magical 30.
Report ours4keeps August 12, 2012 9:39 AM BST
Surely to god we'll be better than last season and it's not unreasonable to say we've got a sniff of 4th place.

re this thread, I'm tempted to put a few quid on Arsenal for the title. Apart from the Van Persie situation they've got a settled squad this time round and they've been smart in the transfer market getting Podolski and Giroud in and then Cazorla who's a brilliant signing that could really transform them.

GI - you are alone in thinking Skirtel is better than Agger amongst us Reds.

If Agger stays and we buy a quality wide player we can challenge for 4th. If Agger goes and we don't sign a pacey wide player then 5th o 6th is more realistic.

But for 100% sure we will be better than last year.

I expect L'pool to do better than last season,
but not by as much sa some people think. They
are invariably over rated and I don't expect
them to be this season also. Different manager,
but same players more or less.
Report Can't Catch Me August 12, 2012 11:08 PM BST
Same players more or less? Lucas missed most of the season with injury. Suarez missed a quarter of the season with bans. Borini and Allen and a completely different formation mean we will be very, very different this season IMO. I'm not saying I am positive we will do better, but things will certainly be very different.

Adam and Henderson played regularly and Carroll played a fair bit.  I expect those three to figure hardly at all.
Report kenilworth August 12, 2012 11:49 PM BST
Who have they signed ? I remember this time last season, what 'pool
were going to do under Dalglish and it seems there are similar
expectations now but I don't see them having a better squad, therefore
around 55 points in my estimation. GL though.

I predict plenty of possession and plenty of draws for Liverpool and 6-8th as a finishing position.

Early days but Rodgers is keeping up his stats from other clubs. Lots of possession and plenty of draws.
Will it continue? Are Liverpool supporters happy with the start made (not the lack of wins obviously but the possession football being played)
Has anyone formed the early opinion that Allen plays far too many sideways and backwards 5 yard passes, when more attacking options are on, to somewhat distort his opta stats? Wink
