Depends how many of their players stay on Not many i'd have thought. Jelavic, Wylde, Whittaker, Davis, Naismith, Fleck and Ness have all left since Jan. McGregor, Aluko, Edu and McCulloch will surely leave too. |
|
By:
McCulloch has been clear in his intentions to stay.
|
|
By:
Even in division 3? Can they afford to pay him at that level?
|
|
By:
Also are they allowed to sign any players or is there a transfer embargo?
|
|
By:
Newco will play in England next season.....against Berwick
Rangers Div Three....is an anagram of rather deserving |
|
By:
Yes. Says he wants to stay and take up a player/coaching role.
He's at the end of his top flight playing career anyway and is already a millionaire. |

RANGERS stalwart Lee McCulloch is desperate for the chance to pass his experience onto the younger players at Ibrox next season by doubling up his role on the park with a coaching brief.
The 34-year-old has already pledged to continue playing for his boyhood club despite the uncertainty over which division they will be entering and now he wants to assist on the training ground. The former Wigan man has been working towards obtaining a UEFA 'A' licence over the summer and wants to continue working off the field, as well as on it, as the new campaign approaches. "I really enjoyed it doing my badges," he told rangers.co.uk "Everyone thinks you just turn up...and get your licence but that's not the case - you need to pass it." Ex-Rangers defender David Weir worked under reserve team manager Tommy Wilson before he left for Everton and McCulloch is hoping to benefit from a similar experience with a coach he respects. "There's a lot of hard work to do this season but I've been on the phone to Davie (David Weir) already getting wee tips from him. "If I can help out with any of the younger sides at Rangers it would be great as well because I need to do that. "I'm used to being out there on the park but now I need to start taking teams myself. Playing is my priority first and foremost at the moment but in my spare time I want to coach. "I don't want to speak out of turn without speaking to (manager) Ally McCoist or Tommy but I'd love to do what Davie did last year. "That would be brilliant because Tommy is one of my favourite coaches I've ever come across in football. He's fantastic and I'd love to learn from him." McCulloch praised Wilson for helping him adapt to a spell in the Rangers defence and he will now aim to learn from the 50-year-old. He said: "When I was going to play centre-half, I'd never done it before and I didn't know what to do so I went to him for advice. "Tommy sat me down for an hour once a week with videos of me to go through and I can't speak highly enough about what he did for me back then. "To work under a guy like that in my spare time would be brilliant if I could get that sort of opportunity." |

Fair enough, didn't realise he was as old as 34 anyway.
What about signings? Are they allowed to buy anyone or is it just free signings and youth team players for them next season? |
|
By:
transfer ban so they have to use their youth players i think.

By:
Probably a tad bitter but Rangers fans should fill Ibrox for home games and boycott away!
|
|
By:
Few others want to stay Kirk Brodfoot etc
Will still have enough quality to win 3rd and 2nd divisions in a canter. |
|
By:
The trouble is Rangers will now face a cup final in the eyes of their opposition every week for the next 3 years.
|
|
By:
Will go through the 3rd division unbeaten. Its full of part time players, postie's and plumbers etc
There's better junior teams playing in Scotland than some 3rd division teams and that's being truthful. |
|
By:
Just hope Rangers don't end up full of bairns, baldies and boozers.

we will be guaranteed a trip to Hampden this season anyway

By:
the demotion to div 3 and the transfer ban are for 2 diffrent offences.
the transfer ban still stands so they can only sign players who are not attached to other clubs and players at other clubs who are not on contract. |

I would think that when playing away, Rangers will take more supporters than the population of the towns they're playing
|

They must be 50/50 to actually get through the season. 15 days until start of season, no name, no money, no sponsors and only 6 players. Charlie Chuckles ain't going to put any money in, they had sold 250 season tickets last week and no right minded bank/business will lend them any money/give credit.
They have Wallace and Mcculloch on about £50,000 combined, over a 100 non playing staff still on SPL level salaries and have the cost of running Ibrox and Murray Park. The running cost of Sevco will massively eat in to the money they get from season tickets and s I understand it ticket prices in SFL 3 are restricted to £12. |
|
By:
Isn't there a park near Ibrox they could play on instead?

will be interesting to see what happens and if they do start in div3. Scottish football has gone to pot. This sort of thing should have seen things put in place when Celtic went in to financial meltdown and the chains and padlocks were put up. When Fergus McCann's Celtic started to exist in 1994 after the previous Celtic were raped and pillaged from within, the rulebook should have been re-written then for the future. But the bunglers at the sfa as usual sat on their brains and continued to twiddle their thumbs throught the years.
Luckily Fergus's Celtic continues today albeit in debt again. But Regan and Doncaster must be proud, scotland has 2 five star stadiums and not one will be in the spl. The biggest attendance in scotland every second week will be in the 3rd division. TV deals must be piling up on their desks minute by minute at the product on offer. You wont get a price on Rangers winning div3 or Cetic the spl. The best and most exciting market will be which spl teams goes bust first and what happens when they can't fulfill their fixtures. But we must look on the bright side, i reckon in 5 years time we will over take the northern irish and welsh leagues and start to get some pride back. Nearby foreign countries like Iceland, Ireland, Sweden etc must be sitting back laughing their heads off. |

no prices out yet but might lay them to win the league if the price is about evens.
