As far as I am aware Andy Murray is a Scot so of course he will raise that flag and so he should if he wins. Personally I would prefer him to win it as otherwise we are just going to hear people drone on about how pathetic he is in the big games and how he falls apart under the pressure. Am I going to be cheering him to the rafters after he wins every point? No but I do genuinely hope the tw** does win it

If Scotland were playing Germany at football, I'd want Scotland to win. If Scotland were playing Australia at Rugby, I'd want Scotland to win.
I don't really follow tennis and I don't care who wins, but I don't have a problem with Murray claiming a win for Scotland, or Scotland winning at anything in general. I doubt Murray plays for anything other than himself, the same as all top Sportsman. His country, whether Britain or Scotland, didn't get him where he is. His own graft and talent did. I think he should wrap himself in the flag of Pakistan, to confuse everyone. |

Most Scotiish folk I know used to want Henman to win at Winbledon, the rest did not seem to mind. I cant remember anyone in Scotland with the hate for him that some English people have for Murray.
For me its all about different sports - in golf or tennis I would support and English player, same with athletics woud get being any British athlete. While other sports like football or rugbyI wouldnt support them but even then I know a lot of Scottish people who do suppoort England in the football or rugby. Some English people seem to get the idea that all things English are hated which is far from the truth. |

JamDav is talking sense. I used to cheer for Henman to win and I don't know any Scots who wanted him to lose. I have witnessed far more hate for Murray from the English than I ever have for Henman from the Scots. In fact I cant remember anyone saying they hoped Henman would lose.

People hate Murray more for a misplaced sense that he is a miserable cnunt whereas Henman was such a nice chap that nobody could really hate him. Having said that I like Murray's dry wit, he keeps making finals and will hopefully win one soon. Henman never could and maybe that was partly down to his niceness. I also agree that Murray isn't playing for Scotland or Britain. He is playing for himself.

If the Andy Murray who took Djokovic all the way in the Aussie open turns up, he will win make no mistake. That was Novak at his best and there is no way Fed can live with Novak at his best these days. However, I think Murray has some personal demons to deal with when it comes to slam finals. It all depends on what version of Andy Murray turns up.
