I dont get this, why would people bother coming onto the forum if they had no money in their account to gamble??

There must be ways to pick the forum up

they are soon going to introduce the exact thing you mentioned in your OP, you will need a funded account to be able to use the forum. At the moment anyone can post (as bob vegas and betfair loser prove on a daily basis).

how is bob going to fund his account when he uses fake names to start new accounts

he won't be able to so he'll be gone........unless he uses a new name at a new address with a new bank card. But i wouldn't put that past him!

There should be an option to display either betting history or P&L on a profile.

It shouldn't be mandatory as thats a massive invasion of privacy, but it would cut out the "I traded out" ****s who hide behind their keyboards as there is no way of proving otherwise.

betfair banned him from the exchange because he was creating fake names to start accounts. im surprised they havent taken legal action against him

(to be read in tongue and cheek manor) I have a dream.. or maybe just a fanciful brain wave.

I'm thinking that the Betfair Forums should undergo some Social Darwinism. I heard a similar project was undertaken to moderate success in 1940s Germany. Anyway, before I lose any more people, this is my plan...

Basically, the members that are somehow keeping this forum afloat and the mean IQ above peanut, should first and foremost stop communicating with such cretins that plague these forums. In doing so, starved of the oxygen that crave in terms of attention and interaction, they will be forced to argue, squabble and throw feces amongst one another. Therefore anyone failing to comply with the new societies level of decorum will be marginilised to the edges of said society and at risk of falling into the precipice of monkeys below, will have to comply to certain standards - example being, not posting idiotic full bank tips, claiming fanciful profit, or posting 1,000 meaningless posts a week.

What I'm suggesting, think of it really, as moving to a different area of town, and away from the squalor and vermin. Anyone objecting to this, I leave you with the saying "if the cap fits, wear it".

I thought you had to have a funded account and made 1 bet before you could post?

I agree with this! funded account to access the forum, so we don't get so much crap posted

I would like to see the following changes:

* Access to all fora, except chit chat, to be limited to those with a minimum of one Betfair commission point.

* Members to be given a star rating 1-5 depending on how many commission points they have which will be displayed alongside their username in all posts

* The op of a thread can block any user from participating in that thread

* The op of a thread can specify a minimum star rating for participants equal to or below their own star rating

* Star ratings to be re-calculated annually on the anniversary of the members joining date or on members request

Agree with 1 and 3.  What would 2, 4 and 5 achieve?  I probably have more commission points than average, but it doesn't mean I'm not going to be a complete bellend on here.

It's quite possibly a rubbish idea - it was early!

I guess you're right, 1 and 3 cover everything

I know there's a lot of annoyances on here, but is it really that much of a big deal? It's often mildly amusing the rubbish they spout, and if you don't like it you can always block these people. Don't see the problem tbh.

I like the banter and the nonsense but it sometimes gets in the way of more serious and valuable discussions and, as we have seen, deters interesting posters from contributing.

So I think we need a way of supporting both.

blocking doesn't work. forget that.
Funded account the only way.

I agree, blocking is useless.

What's the cut off point though? Money is an irrelevant figure for some people with gambling with thousands of pounds and some people on the breadline who like a bet may baulk at the thought of betting a tenner.

I'm somewhere in between although sometimes I wish I had never started.Cry

Some people take this forum far too seriously. It's the internet, there are bound to be idiots about just ignore them.

Well I am a small time, recreational punter (a mug). But I like talking about football and I prefer this forum to others I have used, so I just use this one.

I do have a tenner in my account though...

Why not just have some sort of 'pro's forum', with the previously mentioned suggestions from the posts above. Leave the other forums as they are, but for those on here who actually win lots of money (not me), they could have their own forum with whatever parameters they wish.
