A draw is the best result as it means even if england lose tonight they'll still be guaranteed to go through if they win the last game. Arguable which is the worst result of the other two imo.

Cheers asparagus. I suppose a lot depends on their game tonight!!
Report asparagus • June 15, 2012 6:17 PM BST
yes it does. as we probably need to win the group to avoid spain a draw would be very useful as it gives us a better chance of winning the group as well. Obviously we're very unlikely to make the final but avoiding spain would certainly help.

personally i'd say a ukraine win is the best possible result. assume England beat sweden we then only need 1 point from final game against a team that has already qualified and may rest players.

in answer to question if ukraine win is best result then it seems logical to assume a ukraine loss will be worst result
Report asparagus • June 15, 2012 6:29 PM BST
Curiousreader, you're assuming we beat sweden. That's clearly the wrong thing to do. If Ukraine win and we lose then we are very likely to be out even if we win the last game. If this is a draw and we lose then we're still guaranteed to go through if we win the last game. Therefore i stand by my previous post that a draw has got to be the best result.

The worst result for England will be if Sweden score more goals than them.

Asparagus, surely a high scoring draw would be the worst result ? 2-2 for example.

If England beat Sweden and France beat Sweden, that would mean England would need to beat the Ukraine or get a 2-2 result or higher themselves to deffo qualify.
Report curiousreader • June 15, 2012 6:44 PM BST
asparagus i do assume we can beat sweden but surely your thinking is hoping/assuming we can beat ukraine. personally i'd give us a better chance of beating sweden tonight than trying to beat a ukraine side still needing something themselves. so i'll stick to my assessment.

especially when it looks like ukraine are getting most of the dodgy decisions.
maybe UEFA want at least one of the hosts in the next round.

the worst result will be if they are made to watch this game

Ukraine will be all guns blazing in the last game now!! IF England win they'll both be on three Sweden on zero and out France on four, like I said earlier tonight's game is a must win for England!!

england lose 12 -0 and six players break legs and backs
Report martin_593114 • June 15, 2012 7:25 PM BST
Sh1t or bust tho, don't forget they have two more points than England at the moment
Report Unique19 • June 15, 2012 7:27 PM BST
england need to top group d to avoid spain in quarters. big ask though.
Report Just Checking • June 15, 2012 7:30 PM BST
