I'm glad we're jumping on him at every opportunity. Think Robben,Pidolski,RVP,Muller Ronaldo have all looked brilliant inthe opening game. It s like a forum full of Craig Burley's but that toothless jock simpleton has to be bitter about something

very funny geezer was only on for 15 minutes and being ripped a new one. Should of done better with the finish when he went through, but great movement. The truth is people cant wait to jump all over him. Very amusing. The bloke who played in goal for Poland and RVP were a lot lot worse anything said by the media? Was there balls

His instinct has gone. He gets into great positions then looks like he's never scored a goal in his career.
You cant just ' forget ' how to finish. You dont forget how to ride a bike. His instinct has gone. He gets into great positions then looks like he's never scored a goal in his career.
well none of the 11 on before him goal apart were in them positions, seems a no brainer that he should start sending him on as sub is just making him more anxious, seedorf saying the same about rvp last night when he plays for the dutch

He did mate and a quality player he is. But was totally dump against Daneland his right foot swingers and tripping over his own feet were fantasico

seems people on here think forwards just end up with ball in front of goal without having to be very good at making runs. yes he should have done better with finishes but he was a threat,

Not defending him. He's clearly finished as a top class player. It s over move on to someone else. At least though he was a top international at one time. Unlike other players who are supposedly "world class"

maybe because the pride of barca made fewer chances in the previous 75 mins, than torres helped create in 15,italian centre backs had to do more in 1o mins than the previous 80,and didnt look to clever doing it

Utter bollx on this thread. He was decent, a lot of pressure to play at this level. Think it's a massive game, maybe nervous with a different team than you are used to. Not given the starting place he would think he deserves, they decide to play with no strikers instead. Then 15 minutes at the end of the match to make a difference. Not exactly comfortable and settled in to the match.

Can't really give you any excuses, reasons I could probably dig out a few. Balotelli was on far longer and played much worse, he only cost 22 euro mills though so maybe that's ok. But as metal mickey said, price is pretty much irrelevant, if anything a higher price just puts more expectation on his shoulders.

still you must applaud chelsea for coming 6th in the league, winning FA Cup and Champions League while having a useless player as one of your main strikers.

Torres was rubbish when Chelsea paid £50m for him, which makes him the worst transfer of all time. He's improved a little since then, but not a lot. Today wasn't exactly his first poor show for awhile, today was his normal form for God knows how long. I don't think he has been helped by having to justify such a ridiculous fee when in such poor form, it's just snow-balled for him.
It's when he looks half like a striker that it's unusual, the reverse of RVP, Ronaldo etc. etc. Imagine if Torres had got Di Natale's goal, we'd never be hearing the end of it. For Di Natale, it was just regulation.
It's amazing how bad he has become, because he was one of the world's best in his prime at Liverpool.
No way he should get in the side ahead of Llorente.

I don't need an excuse, obviously he struggled in a lot of games, the reason due to pressure on him to score. Torres has been decent of late for Chelsea, I have watched every match Chelsea played this year, so I hope I know what I am talking about.

True, one thing's for sure he's no Wilson Palacios for 16 mil

I don't think anybody is worth 200k a week. That is a fking ridiculous amount of money for someone who kicks a football once a week. Watch from when Torres was subbed on again, forget about your over 2.5 or Spain to win bets and just watch him. Also don't forget they are playing against some of the best defenders in the game. Now how does he do?

£16m eh? Even if it was that much, he was playing well when we bought him and played well for us in his first spell. Went downhill after that and we got about £10m or so back for him...but there was the small matter of his brother being murdered (whilst being held for ransom). His form fell off a cliff after that and he never recovered.
But in your haste to respond, you miss the point -- Torres cost £50m when in bad form. This is what has crushed him beyond belief. Imagine having the pressure of justifying that fee when you are playing like cr*p. The most nonsensical transfer of all time. Even Carroll, how poor he has been, was at least in some kind of form during the season he was purchased. There was some twisted logic to it. £50m was just madness.

50 million is a red herring, l,pool wanted rid at 50 mill, nothing less he wanted to go romans wanted him for years it was a jan deal i think,
if l,pool wanted 150 mill ,roman has it and wanted him,its nothing to do with price v ability, similar to carrol transfer

I don't think it is a red herring, it's a major factor as to why he hasn't been able to get his confidence back. Crushed by the weight of it, a bit of a vicious circle. In poor form>>>£50m fee to justify>>>too much pressure>>>poor form continues etc. etc.
Ronaldo moved for huge money, but he was in the form of his life. He just carried on. The fee made sense, as much as paying £80m for someone to kick a ball about can make sense anyway!

But he didn't chip the keeper . Might as well say if he'd have scored every chance he has missed since his move, would the perspective on his transfer be different? Well, obviously, yes...

Playing for RM in La Liga is a lot easier than playing for a struggling Chelsea in the EPL.
Torres pace and movement and intelligent runs are all top class, he's just lacking a bit of confidence in the finish. So many people jump on the anti torres bandwagon though...it's amazing. I'm not sure what he's done to deserve it.

For what it's worth, he wasn't that bad tonight. I said in the thread slating Alan Green (which is always the correct thing to do re. Alan Green) that Torres was ok tonight. Did some good things and some not so good things.
But Mr. E is quite right. He's a £50m dud. My hot air is just a guess at why he has continued playing poorly after Liverpool.

i,m no torres,l,pool or chelski fan, but find it interesting that people on here are slagging a player who showed more in 15 mins tonight, than ive seen oxo show in all his arsenal, england appearences

an arsenal player had a decent game against the mighty blackburn, chuck me,stop the train and get off and he had a decent 10 mins against milan and didnt get a kick in the 2nd half, and that was the night milan left all their full backs at home and played the clubs 5th choice chef there,
