Liverpool would have been a massive step up for Roberto Martinez so why did he turn it down?

Could it be he just didn't think the present squad was capable of playing football the way he wants it played?

Could it be the FSG wouldn't sanction a clear out of the long ball merchants?

Think you are right Biscuit.  Turned down Villa, you can kind of understand.  But turning down two "bigger" clubs in consecutive years does smack of "I'm happy out of the spotlight and without any real pressure from fans".

Or Whelan has a photo of him in a compromising position with a donkey and if he quits then he'll release the images.

he turned it down because he would not have been given full control of football matters... kinda like sitting on the sideline watching the team roman picked 10 mins before the game...

he has kept wigan up for the last few seasons when they are usually written off early in the season

he had the chance to join villa last season, liverpool this summer and maybe villa again

either he is indecisive and doesnt trust himself yet or he wants everything in his favour before he makes the jump

He turned them down because he didn't fancy having a director of football  doing his job for him.
Liverpool are a joke of a club these days,im glad Roberto stays with us,but only a matter of time before he's with a big club.

Don't understand the near 'messiah' status of the bloke. Has no-one in football noticed that his team is sh1te ?
