Crewe won the first leg 1-0 and were fairly comfortable. Southend are claiming to have a large number of injuries for the game and have supposedly put most of their reserves on standby. Crewe are still without captain David Artell (metatarsal) and their best two players (Luke Murphy and Nick Powell) will have late fitness tests, but both are expected to play.
Its worth noting that away goals do NOT count until after extra time. So if the score is Southend 2 Crewe 1 after 90 minutes we will see extra time, but if there are no further goals Crewe would progress after 120 minutes tonight.
Anyone that saw the first game will remember it was a tight affair, with Crewe having the majority of chances, but without having very many clear-cut opportunities. That Southend have to attack will open the game up tonight, and I also suspect it may play right into Crewe's hands.
Crewe are unbeaten in 17 games and only have to make it 18 games to be on the way to Wembley. They will be confident of doing that, but I think there is every chance they could seal the tie in style with a win, and I have backed Crewe at an average price a little over 4.7.
More speculative punters may wish to join me in a FGS bet on Matt Tootle, 50/1 each way with Paddy Power (first 5 goals). Tootle is a right back by trade, and has layed primarily in a defensive role this year and has not scored. However, in the first leg manager Steve Davis employed him in a left-sided midfield role, and this enabled him to get well forward. Twice he was an inch away from getting on the end of a cross in the six yard box and I think he is well overpriced this evening.

think I'll back Crewe and hope they hang on or get the next. Not happy with my Crewe lay at all after that half 
All good so far. Should be 3-0 up really but happy generally. Tootle getting forward nicely.

Probably the worst team I saw at VP this season (based only on 90mins. Mohsni in particular was complete and utter gash. However, I've been told by various people that they're a good outfit and he's a decent player...still waiting to see it...

This ref is a ****ing disgrace. Booked two Crewe players for diving after clear fouls by Grant who has committed roughly 17 challenges he should have been booked for.
Just hope Max Clayton can pop up with a winner for Crewe here

Safe to say, not the best game Timlin's played
Still buzzing from the game though. If you can't win it you hope your team has a good go. If it went to extra time, I genuinely think we'd have gone through because Crewe were struggling to get the ball in the last 15 mins. Didn't have much answer to forward movement from Crewe though or the composure to pass through their pressing game in the first half and technically we looked miles behind. I'll be backing them in the final, preferably against Cheltenham as the value will be a bit better.
End of the day, we hit the post twice and had a header from a few yards go straight down the keeper's throat.

Jesus we made hard work of that. 2 one on ones missed that would have made it safe, then the keeper through one in and made us twitch. A class goal from ANOTHER superb prospect in Clayton before an almost immediate bit of brilliance from Southend's best player over the two legs, Hall, set up an equaliser. The last few minutes were hell, but I've done my first bottle of champagne and also got my train tickets for Wembley.
