hello all,
my mate on saturday put a tenner on MATA to be motm at laddies at 10-1.
during the course on the night his bet went awol...he may have lost it he may have had it robbed....
anyway,he didnt realise he had lost it until late yesterday.
he goes into the shop to rewrite it out today and lo and behold it had already been claimed in another shop!!!
luckily the cashier knows he put the bet on and they have cctv of him doing so....however they would not pay him out unless he reported it to the police,which he has done and is now waiting to hear from the old bill.....
they have cctv of the person picking it up...so i believe the police will be calling in for footage of the cctv stuff....
what is everyones thoughts on this??? i have googled it and it seems you can get done for this as it is classed as theft.my mate isnt bothered whether the lad is done or not,he just wants his money...but what would you have done???thoughts????

snooze you lose init. why would police waste their time on such a thing of going through cctv. when my car got broken into and i told them who it was they STILL didnt do anything. and no the bookies shouldnt pay out cos they already did its not up to them to decide who's the right recipient
hes reported to the police that his bet went missing sat night and its been cashed in 1st thing sunday morning..turns out the bookies have cctv of the man who picked it up..silly sod went in his bird as well....!!!
just like dropping some cash on the ground and someone else picking it up. nobodys fault but your own. do you expect ladbrokes to ask everyone with a winning slip for proof of ownership?

i agree with you shaky,however i would have not claimed it myself in case of this!! the lad can be done for theft.
bergamp hes on the dole.he put 1 bet on its 2 weeks food for him and family!!
theres no way they can do him for theft unless u can prove that he actually stole the ticket with the intent to cash it and take the money
apparently they can because he knowingly cashed it in knowing it was not his property...police said he could be prosecuted because my mate has proved it was his property by cctv.

indeed hitman,my mate says its the principal of it,and the fact the lad went in early the next day shows he knew he was having him off...if he had left it a few days then try,fair enough coz he'd rather the bloke had it than bookies...however the dont crap on your own kind....

Your friend should have his dole money stopped. If he can afford to risk £10 of his dole money on gambling they are obviously paying him to much.
he has 1 bet every few months baggie.hence that why it meant so much 2 him.
No problem with him using dole money to have the odd bet, but hardly surprising he cant get a job if he cant look after a ticket worth 3 weeks pay.

depends where you. some bookies in busy town centres stay open later than 9.30 as gaming machines are a high percentage of their income
crikey he's just rang up and his mrs is threatening to throw him out if he dont get his bet money as she had already spent half of it on taking the kids out for the day as a treat poor bloke!
