Full congratulations to the Chelsea team last night - a wonderful 2nd half performance and great work from the manager at half time.

As for the fans, I'm sure it's not representative of all of them but the people who sang through the minute's silence last week deserve no respect whatsoever.

who are they sj?? how many fans does "they" represent?

I think a lot of the rivalry stemmed from the Benitez/Mourinho ers; the 2 managers clearly wound each other up and, in my opinion, you went into the 2005 semi thinking you only had to turn up to qualify. When you were beaten there was a great deal of bitterness.
From our side, I think many of your PL wins have been fairly welcomed as you are by far the lesser of 2 evils.
Report sj April 25, 2012 4:26 PM BST
"They" represent every Liverpool fan who go on about the past achivements at games travelling to Stamford Bridge and at Anfield when we go up there. Lets not try to say otherwise. As I see it Liverpool fans think they have a divine right to be a top club and Chelsea dont.

Jelliedeel's , Liverpool have won twice at the Nou Camp , Barcelona 0-1 Liverpool

UEFA Cup semi-final first leg – March 1976

Liverpool became the first English side to win at the Nou Camp in a game which led to Kevin Keegan being feted as the new star of European football; the irony being that, while it was one of his finest displays in a Liverpool shirt, it almost certainly planted a seed in Keegan's mind which, the following year, blossomed into his transfer to Hamburg. In Brazilian Miguel Mir and Dutchman Johan Cruyff, Barca had two of the finest players in world football, yet Liverpool's number seven outshined them both, illustrating to himself more than anyone that he could compete on the European stage week-in, week-out. His mastery bore fruits after just 13 minutes when he chested the ball to strike-partner John Toshack, who tucked the ball past keeper Pedro Mora to register his 21st goal of the season. A barrage of cushions were thrown towards the Barca players on the final whistle – the home fans' way of demonstrating their rage. "Every cushion on the pitch was a tribute to our play," said manager Bob Paisley afterwards, his side now firm favourites to progress to the final.

It would be wrong to do Chelsea down after last night's result , was a fantastic performance/result .

what would shock me is if the decent supporters (ie the 99.99% of liverpool fans) decided to blame others for what the few idiots did on the night (idiots on both liverpool and juve side, cos the missile throwing from juve fans was dispicable as well).
if the 'blame others' view was widely held by liverpool fans then that would be a different matter, but i couldnt see it being true and good to hear its not.

I also have to say there were a large number of people from london, (liverpool, and other clubs supporters/fans) that were in attendance in brussells as we were all held at the ferry terminal or close too and we shared a drink with them, it did strike me as strange at that time that a coach load or more had travelled to the game, but that was as far as my thoughts went and anyone who was at the game would not have known about the comments made by the liverpool official

Sadly liverpool fans begrudge any other team winning anything. Its a shame really Sad

Absolutely outstanding performances from Chelsea to knock out Barca and just reward for the way they were dumped out of the comp at the semi stages by them a couple of years ago.

Go win it Chelsea, you fully deserve it.

A H Hunter: You seem to have this misconception that not having a ticket meant non-entry into the stadium. The security was pretty much non-existent. So much so, that the head of security was eventually prosecuted for involuntary manslaughter. People were kicking holes in the walls & climbing in. You didn't have to be that determined to get into the ground.

There's a notorious Everton hooligan who goes by the name of Andy Nicholls. He's actually wrote in one of his books that he was at Heysel. Therefore, it's not hearsay to suggest that there were others involved in the ensuing tragedy. & whilst John Smith was wrong to point the finger at Chelsea fans. Given the reputation the 'Chelsea Headhunters' had as being the most violent & vicious fans around, it's understandable he might come to this conclusion considering how many people were there from London & the Home Counties......I might be wrong, but some people might even take pride at being a 'Headhunter' & may even have a username on a football forum depicting this.

And some people like to deflect blame and take no resonsibility for their actions indeed blaming everyone else .

Funny that, liverpool wants an apology from the authorities who blamed Liverpool fans for Hillsborough, but are not willing to apologising on behalf of their chairman who blamed Chelsea fans for the Heysel disaster.

i'll tell you what it was.

it was a shamefull attempt by somebody who should have known better to try and deflect blame from supporters of his own club. and all said as the full extent of the tragedy was unfolding.
