The Classico is the most watched domestic club game in world football.

The EPL has an advantage in Asia for viewing figures but not everywhere else

We don't really produce world class players in the UK these days. I don't know why but we cant deny it, our players aren't that great.

Not true jamdav, we have produced Dalglish, Best, Brady, Gascoigne, in the past. It's not the style of play, it's the style of coaching that's gone wrong.

Highlander coaching is influenced by the style of play that you mentioned earlier that you like - physical, fast, raking passes etc.

You've been brainwashed into believing that tippy-tappy football is the "best" way to play football.

It's not.  Scoring more goals than your opponents is the best way to play football, as Real Madrid proved last night.

We have played that way for a hundred years jamdav and still produced highly skilled players. There must be something wrong with modern coaching in this country. We need to mix it up with athletic players and highly skilled players. As it stand we have to import the flair players.

Coaching in this country has moved way way beyond that.  That was true 15 years ago, but the new crop of players coming through will prove to be world class.  They have to be.  To stand any chance in the EPL they have to be of a very high standard.

I'm just copying Real Madrid last night.  Pack out the defence, don't commit to any tackles.  Show them around the outside to a crossing position because you know the cross won't come (no height).  Then use power and strength to brush the short players aside.

Spanish league is a ******* joke league.

Week in week out the big 2 @ 1.02 to win before a ball is bl00dy kicked, overs @ 1.08, all the decisions go their way anyway just in case it looks like their prancing diving primadonna t*****rs won't manage to knock one past some poor "other team" sod who is mostly trying just not to get a red card for doing ***k all, and whose entire salary wouldn't cover Ronaldo's manicure bill.

Far better standard of players throughout La Liga than in the EPL.

La Liga probably has 7/8 of the top ten players in the world and has won more european trophies than the EPL in the last ten years.

Madrid got knocked out of the CL last season by Barcelona and could easily get to the final this time.

The Madrid team of 4/5 years ago is nothing like this side, so that is irrelevant.

If we are using the CL as a reference for how strong the top two sides in other leagues are then the EPL is far worse.

The club coefficient is determined by the results of a club in European club competition in the last five seasons, and the league coefficient. The club coefficient is 20% of the league coefficient plus the number of points earned by the club in the five seasons. The points earned by a club in the preliminary rounds are not counted.

basically la liga is top because of mainly one team while the p/l teams have contested numerous finals ,i think chelsea have been in about 4 semi finals in recent years.And all 4 p/l teams have been in the last 8 on many occasions.
could you point out the performances of the other 3 of the big four in spain.

Barry you are living in the past. You are going back 4/5 years to a time when Liverpool were a stronger side than Real Madrid!

We are talking here and now and like it or not La Liga will be the top ranked league in europe next year.

am i missing something,to test the strength of anything it must be judged over a period of time,as for living in the past i hardly call looking over the past 5 years results living in the past.
I could argue based on recent results chelsea are better than barca or is that living in the past.

by using each countrys performance in the premier european competion we can assertain which countrys teams performed strongest  in that competition and over the last 5/6 years that country was england.
much the same way spain are the top ranked country in the world
using the same method,or maybe you dispute that.

I think the premier league is the most exciting league but as for whether it's the 'best' league it depends on what you look for.

The 2 best teams in the world and most of the best players in the world play in la liga, so that in itself gives it a decent claim to be the best.

Barry you pointed out the uefa rankings as proof the EPL is better but as soon as I pointed out La Liga would be top next year you said well thats all based on one team.

English teams have not dominated the semi final stages for three seasons now. There is only so long that can be put up as an argument for he EPL being the strongest league.

Barry who do you think are the top players outside of the top six sides in the EPL?

Not too impressed with Bayern looked out on their feet at 75mins don,t know what happened to Real maybe scored twice too early,Schweinsteiger/Kroos/Barnstuber not very good at this rarified level Lahm not too good in either game so Chelsea must have a very good chance but home advantage a big hurdle.
