First I would like to say this isn't me showing off, really not interested in people thinking i'm a "good gambler" or any of that sh1te.
I am full time on here but also not keen on people who claim they are "pro" because i don't believe the words professional and gambler should ever be used in the same sentence but each to their own.
People that do rely on "gambling" as their main or only source of income will know it's just a choice and lifestyle they've chosen and believe they have the intelligence to win more than they lose, some manage... some fail.
Some use systems that are brilliant and work for them, i don't like systems personally but i'm not against anyone that believes in them and i'm not saying they don't work either because i've seen a few that do (but most don't) and i know a few have their own models on here.
Anyway... not really sure why i started this thread because it just looks like i want to show off my bets and profits to a bunch of random strangers, but it's not. I just want to show people that there are different ways of betting and thinking, which are profitable, if you have the patience and discipline to grow the balance rather than try to hit those risky big bets or big pay outs that are generally against you.
Cut a long, boring story short... I built up a nice healthy bank from a small start a while back (was betting on bookies sites for a few years before finding the glorious betfair) anyway... I wanted to see if i could still "do it" from a small start without having a healthy sum to fall back on if i messed up. So, i chose to start with a fairly low £200 with the aim to build it up taking on certain bets only (sometimes i wandered from the path... free will and all that human stuff).
The bets were mainly 2 goal leads (preferably the favourable team winning but not always) and a few pre-match bets on the big teams (Barca, RM, Bayern, Dortmund, Man Utd etc)
Anyway, below are the results using a £200 start bank from 31/03/2011 to today 11/04/2012 (12 days total so far)

You'll see a fair few small losses in the mix, these are where I will have say £624.34 bank after a bet. If nothings on or i fancy a little gamble i'll risk what i call the "loose change" and stick the £4.34 on something risky, if it comes in then sweet and if it don't it's not much harm and leaves me with a nice round number.
This won't be an on-going thread like the first thread. I'm not prepared to spend my entire day posting every bet as I make it or letting it take over my whole day like the first did, i simply cannot be bothered it's too much hassle.
I just wanted to show people different ways of making money. A bit of common sense and an eye for opportunity goes a long way and i'm not suggesting everyone should do this, it's not for everyone.
For those that actually want to see each bet, stake and odds taken etc I can send the pages from my betting history rather than from the P/L pages but the P/L pages take less room and are easier to see here which is why i used them for the thread.
Also for those that think i'm giving some "edge" away i'm not... a monkey could think of this and the liquidity in these are far greater than most peoples banks on here due to most people trading out of their pre-match bets on the selection to lock in their profits, in simple terms this method is just taking the "greener's" loss from greening their bets or the small odds layers hoping to get lucky.
Lastly... Selection is key to sustainability when taking on the 2 goal margins, you can't just bet on any 2 goal lead... this is where the common sense should come into play. Although not every bet is on a 2 goal cushion as there are pre-match bets on the heavily favoured teams too but that also is about wise selection.
If any of you want to give it a go feel free... start as small as you like and feel free to post your daily P/L's in here or thoughts/bets. I won't be involved in this thread much, probably post the daily P/L's but that's about it. I know alot liked the under 6.5 thread and got involved etc so feel free to take this over or let it rot away i don't really care but would like to see people making money.

You'll see a fair few small losses in the mix, these are where I will have say £624.34 bank after a bet. If nothings on or i fancy a little gamble i'll risk what i call the "loose change" and stick the £4.34 on something risky, if it comes in then sweet and if it don't it's not much harm and leaves me with a nice round number.
This won't be an on-going thread like the first thread. I'm not prepared to spend my entire day posting every bet as I make it or letting it take over my whole day like the first did, i simply cannot be bothered it's too much hassle.
I just wanted to show people different ways of making money. A bit of common sense and an eye for opportunity goes a long way and i'm not suggesting everyone should do this, it's not for everyone.
For those that actually want to see each bet, stake and odds taken etc I can send the pages from my betting history rather than from the P/L pages but the P/L pages take less room and are easier to see here which is why i used them for the thread.
Also for those that think i'm giving some "edge" away i'm not... a monkey could think of this and the liquidity in these are far greater than most peoples banks on here due to most people trading out of their pre-match bets on the selection to lock in their profits, in simple terms this method is just taking the "greener's" loss from greening their bets or the small odds layers hoping to get lucky.
Lastly... Selection is key to sustainability when taking on the 2 goal margins, you can't just bet on any 2 goal lead... this is where the common sense should come into play. Although not every bet is on a 2 goal cushion as there are pre-match bets on the heavily favoured teams too but that also is about wise selection.
If any of you want to give it a go feel free... start as small as you like and feel free to post your daily P/L's in here or thoughts/bets. I won't be involved in this thread much, probably post the daily P/L's but that's about it. I know alot liked the under 6.5 thread and got involved etc so feel free to take this over or let it rot away i don't really care but would like to see people making money.

I wasn't planning on continuing the thread when i started it but a few asked to see the progress so decided i'll carry on posting daily P/L's until 30th April and I set myself a realistic target of £3000 total from 31st March to 30th April which currently requires around £80 per day profit to reach it with the remaining 15 days... I've been surpassing that most days so we'll see how it goes.

shane i'm backing things that i feel have the tiniest chance of losing... 3 goal leads, 2 goal leads, 1 goal leads 5 mins before the end, 2 and 1 goal lead ht bets, pre-match bets or anything that i don't feel a negative feeling from when i click submit...

Hamilton to finish in the points (10th or above) 1.22 was great value this morning for example.
what happens when these short odds lose? you dont chase do you, just puts you back a week?
i don't know what happens because the high stake bets on the short odds haven't been in trouble as they were bet on things that would need jesus to screw them over, if a bet is riskier than the big stake bets then the stake will reflect it, like the velez ht bet £24.18 which lost... 1% of bank.

yeah that was 1 sloppy sequence, strayed from the path and gambled a little. That mini sequence reminded me not to and i haven't since but thanks for actually noticing that mini chase period, you're the first to mention it n pick up on it.

Universidad de Chile are one of my fave teams to make money from and bet on. Had 2 stakes on at 1-0 equating to £233 stake, then Atletico equalised around 60 minutes.
One thing I've learnt when backing UDC is... don't take a red if they concede because they will grab another goal or 2 or 3 the vast majority of the time. They were all over the opposition 2nd half so I wasn't really worried... They took the lead again within minutes and i added another £100 stake around 91st minute just to top up the profit a little.

Great thread dimebar. Inspiring stuff it has to be said. I make a modest profit mainly from laying & trading. But you've shown that if you are selective in the backing market, there's money to be made - Do you do much research on the non-European teams before you select a bet ? Or is your choice simply made on the odds at the time ?
Hi Red... well I've been full time since Sept. 2010 (poker and sports betting) you tend to pick up a lot of info along the way when you're betting every day with regards to leagues and teams most people would have never even heard of. I'd say my general sports IQ since quitting regular work and doing this every day has increased 100-fold.
But yeah I don't ever place anything down blindly. If i'm not totally familiar with teams/leagues as much as I am with others, I'll go check them out on various stats sites to see their form, head to heads, performance home n away, times they score most goals, team-sheet etc before I do commit to putting anything on the match. I also do watch every match/portion of a match i'm involved in when a streams available, which is 99% of them. You do get the odd match or league that is almost near impossible to find a stream for but generally try leave those alone. I've never really just limited myself to the betting I'm taking on in this thread alone, usually have a mixture of everything (lays, pre-match, late lumps, trades etc) it's just a project really but it's proving decent so far.

It's difficult when someone asks you for a "tip". Yesterday I had a really good day on the horses (had the first 5 winners of the day at all sorts of prices) so I got asked by someone what I was doing in the next at Cheltenham. The M'boro v Southampton bet was busted by a 47th minute turd goal in injury time 1st half by stinky Boro...
Dortmund wasn't a chase bet either by the way, actually had a pre-match HT gamble on them before I'd even touched the Boro game as this match they were playing for zee German bumholeliga title n had a feeling they'd go all out n get an early goal or 2.
Day would have been better if Reading held on to win too but I could have greened so can't complain.

Man Utd pulled my pants down a bit... placed 2 bets on them, £126.76 pre-match then £100 top up when they went 2-1 up. I was watching the F1 so wasn't paying much attention to the match. Every now and then i looked at the score, when i see 4-2 i thought it was safe. i didn't look again until injury time but did have a chuckle to myself when i see 4-4.
The AZ and Bilbao games look like a stinky chase session after but I actually wasn't in a "chase" mindset at all, did fancy a little gamble though. I saw an opportunity to recover the loss in those 2 matches without risking too much or crippling the bank.
Backed AZ for £100 just after VVV equalised around 60th minute, then moved onto Bilbao. I was watching the game and felt confident enough they would win the match after going 1-0 up so placed £100 for them to win HT and £200 for them to win FT then just continued my bets as usual for the rest of the day.
If worst come to worst my bank would have been left around £1800 which from £200 in just over 3 weeks would still be acceptable to me, equates to just under £600 per week but as I really want to hit my £3000 target by 30th April I fancied my chances in those 2 matches to turn the day back around into another good day.
It was nice to actually have the odd gamble n have something to route for aswell instead of just "hanging on" for 10/15 minutes like the majority of bets.
Anyway, just thought i'd give a little explanation to the figures as someone highlighted the mini chase period in the opening statement list of bets the other day/week which actually was an 8 hour up n down chase bender.
Today's i wouldn't class as a chase... more a healthily selected recovery bet set (sounds better and justifiable)

Top work mate, although i can't believe with all the games yesterday (even before 5pm) that the only ones you bet on were a Korean womens match, a reserve game and a Swedish youth team game!!
haha Biscuit they were the only games I saw real decent opportunities in at the time. Kalmar match was due to the other team getting a red early 1st half so jumped on them. Hyundai Steel women's was easy to grab some money i think you were watching the game anyway... man utd reserves put HT bet on when they went 2-0 up n they scored again minutes after... was tempted to back them FT 3-0 up at HT around 1.03 but didn't feel comfortable doing it, i think they won 4-0 or 5-0 in the end though.

hey people... internet went down around 70th minute of Barca match, cannot believe what happened and couldn't do anything about losing on it because of stupid internet dying but i doubt i'd have greened anyway. Got internet back around 9am this morning so missed out on yesterday's Champs League match too which would have been a RM back, did find Ramos' PK highly amusing and enjoyable to watch

My last update for the thread... reached my target of £3000 total bank with 3 days of betting to spare
Will be going back to normal betting again (along with this) but i don't plan on using the forums anymore really, they have no real use to me and after not having the internet all day Wednesday it reminded me there's better ways to spend your time than being sucked into and reading/contributing to the ego driven bollox that makes up the majority of the forum.

There was only 1 bet that lost from being placed on a 2 goal lead in the whole 303 bets too, that was Birmingham away to West Ham (1-3 at HT which finished 3-3 FT due to a questionable penalty) the rest that lost were the 1 goal HT bets, couple of pre-match and alot of the small and loose change gambles.

Took a few years of losing a lot to change the way i thought about betting... might sound weird but i translate my bets into poker hands lol

They play too many hands, and go in on marginal bets without knowing (or caring) that the percentages are against them. When they get some bad luck, they respond by betting big. Sometimes they get away with it. Other times they don't. Many of these players will have phases where they feel they're doing well and making a profit. Long-term though, journeyman mugs lose.
Most players (at least at the lower tables) fall into one of those two groups. But there are the two successful types as well. You get the Ace Players, the ones who know exactly what they're doing. They know when they're getting value, and they have the determination not to throw away their money on marginal hands. If they have a bad game, they just take a break and then come back when they're refreshed, rather than going out on tilt. Most of us want to be Ace Players, but very few of us will ever be able to attain that status, no matter how hard we work.
Many people, though, could put themselves into the final group - the Minimalist Players. Those are the ones who pass almost every hand. When they've got something good, they play it with big money. And they generally win. But they only go in when they're sure the odds are very much in their favour. To be fair, on a decent table, the Minimalists are likely to be picked up on, and they'll find it difficult to get people to take them on. As a Betfair trader, though, you can be a Minimalist as much as you want, and nobody can turn your money down, since they don't have a clue that it's you they're going up against.
Only in Poker do you physically see all of these different types playing. But they exist in Betfair, whether you see them or not. The only question is which of the types do you choose to play as...
