I appreciate that Man Utd are favourites, but 1.45?

Perhaps the market underestimates the fact that Blackburn are fighting for their lives?

Not to mention the fact that Blackburn have been on a decent run, interrupted only by what must have been a strange game to play in at Bolton.

Man Utd are far from convincing this season - so surely this is a lay?

would rather lay Man U than back them in this one as well. utd should win but could easily be a draw.
Report MFC_1986 April 2, 2012 9:33 AM BST
Blackburn are fighting for their lives because they are poor and lose games. I think manure have a bigger incentive.
AWAY win all day long for me.

Has anyone ever collected stats about the points that relegation threatened teams pick up in the last quarter of a season?

It always feels like it increases, but that might be totally wrong?
Report popopop April 2, 2012 9:37 AM BST
should be easy then.. its not like they did anything at old trafford or anything did they? oh.. :)
Report MONEY TREE April 2, 2012 9:53 AM BST
was expecting them to be around 1.75 so defo lay.
Report popopop April 2, 2012 9:55 AM BST
yep.. 1.65.. 1.7 would feel about right. im considering laying blackburn as i think they probably wont win but id like to cover the draw.
Report letmesee April 2, 2012 10:24 AM BST
yes a bit short for me too. will prob watch game for a while then decide as to back them or not..
Report songsforthedeaf April 2, 2012 10:36 AM BST
I expected the market to make them 1.5

If I was making a book I would make them 1.6

I think their real odds are about 1.7/1.8
Report jason-dodd April 2, 2012 12:26 PM BST
Yep, the lay is value to me here... not sure 9/1 for Blackburn is the best price I have ever seen - and a draw is a possibility also.

I can understand why some people see it as worth a bet, but for me there are one too many reasons why United should be a tad longer.

Hans, do you mean the Blackburn game?

Presumably you know that they lost... so what's your point?
Report HansUlrichApfelStrudel April 2, 2012 2:40 PM BST
Blackburn won at Old Trafford, have scored more goals at home than most EPL clubs, yet people think backing Man U at 1.45 is somehow value? Crazy
Report loadedgimp April 2, 2012 2:44 PM BST
united have twice humbled opponents 5-0 away from home, first was 10th placed fulham, 2nd was 20th placed wolves.  blackburn are not much better and will expect defeat today but as everyone should know, 1.5 would be an awful price to take.
The only reason to bet current price is in case of an early united goal.
If you lay it you must be aware you are laying a bet that is likely to win so it can go down the pan at any point.
I reckon there will be goals here - Blackburn and United are both top of the goals table with 3.5 and 3.37 average per game respectively and neither team has seen a 0-0 in the league this season.

Report jason-dodd April 2, 2012 3:08 PM BST
What's that, loadedgimp?
Report jason-dodd April 2, 2012 3:10 PM BST
loadedgimp - re the post above - appreciate that Mna Utd are likely to win, but I just feel that, with the crowd behind them, it's not a 1.45 shot and it worth a lay.

Imagine if Yakubu gets stuck into Evans in the first few minutes - they'll be right bang up for it!
Report loadedgimp April 2, 2012 3:12 PM BST
Yep I was just saying why the price is that price, great for a trade though and I can definitely see United dropping some points here.
Mega minute - you guess the minute of the first goal every now and then if you win you get money.  Have to stake £50 on a game on the same day and you are qualified.  It's on the offers page.  Never got the right minute so far but today's the day!
Report jason-dodd April 2, 2012 3:17 PM BST
Ah okay cheers - will have a look at that! I think I might go against the grain, and go for 54.
Report lauriehulse April 2, 2012 3:18 PM BST
all overs odds are very low.... lay rpices for me. Can see this being a classic united meat grinder win... 0-1 or 0-2 with late goals
Report jason-dodd April 2, 2012 3:23 PM BST
Agreed - can't see why Blackburn would go gung-ho and Man United will surely be happy with a clean sheet against this defence.

Ive heavily backed united, i know they have a bad record, i know they lost the previous fixture and they have a bad record at ewood, but i just think they will be so up for this after citys performance at the weekend. Ferguson knows how to win during squeaky bum time, i dont think 1.46 was that bad of a price either tbh.

utd don't like teams attacking them, it has often this season exposed their very average defence. and i've no doubt blackburn have enough to do damage. hopefully kean has had them watching the bilbao games for a few tips.
Report the dza April 2, 2012 4:48 PM BST
Utd and Rooney are in the zone and I think they will win by 2 goals. By far the best away side in the country. Blackburn, on the other hand, have lost more games at home (9) than they have away (7).

We shall see, I sort of hope that Blackburn make things interesting for the run-in -- I'd like to see a really decisive Manchester derby later in the season.
Report Maverick23 April 2, 2012 4:54 PM BST
Anyone who thinks Utd aren't going to grab this oppurtunity with both hands is incredibly deluded...yes Blackburn arent push overs and yes I dont expect Utd to win by 3 or 4 goals but I dont see anything other than a Utd victory.....and to rub it in the noses of their neighbours

it's an incredibly lean price but I sense it could be even shorter come kick-off,

it seems generally speaking Blackburn have become a non-entity in this result and the general punter seems to be focusing on the fact City dropped points United WILL open the gap further, regardless of Blackburns recent form/Uniteds record at Ewood.

personally I think United will have too much and run out 2-0/3-0 winners on sheer gut instinct, though i'd be looking to lay initially and picking up some early drift I envisage a real cagey first 30mins, and I don't think Blackburn will have the luck they had at OT, I think they had 3 shots on target all game and scored the lot!

also you need to factor in the comments of a City fan i've just seen on SSN, that united have had a "lucky" manager for the past 20 years Laugh
