Yep saw this straight away not once but defo twice or thrice did the **** of a ref say "Perchy"!!!

and as for the blatant tug back on Suarez when NOBODY on the left to cover him and NO Yellow, not even a talking to....shows how much of thick prick the idiot is!

Perch' legs turned to jelly because he thought Pepe was about to smash the living chit out of him, Cabaye also a nasty piece of work, alongside his numerous x-rated tackles he now wants to feign injuries and point fingers and talk to refs, nice bloke.

Funny how the Liverpool fans suddenly become critical of players going to ground too easily.

When Suarez is guilty, I have seen several of those same posters telling us that if there's contact then it's justified.

Yes we all Suarez over exaggerates and 9/10 of he is actually caught\fouled!

Today Perch(an English player who the media trait to be clean and not like the foreign players) was embarrassing.

I will need to see a slow-mo but even if there was minimal contact he went down like he had been caught by Mike Tyson..both hands over his face and screaming and then up again in  10 seconds(i think). at worst he may have had a small pain on his nose.

Exactly.  Yes Perch dived like a big girl, yes it was pathetic and yes he probably got Reina sent off.  However, Suarez does exactly the same thing in the same match (when allegedly caught with a swinging arm that almost removed his head) and Liverpool fans are shaking with rage that Gutierrez wasn't done for it.  Make your minds up.

As for the OP, would hav been a yellow apiece and on with the game.  It's a real shame that diving and pretending to be hurt is what's talked about after what was quite a good match, but I guess that's the Premier League for you.

mtoto ...thats was against Sheff Utd 1st game of the season and the ref gave it based on intent

and a few refs later said it was a pen despite Gerrard having to avoid\jump of the sliding leg.

Newcastle are nice club and most peoples 2nd\3rd fav.

The fact is that today Perch has elevated himself to Drogba school of acting.
as for Cabaye he should be ashamed of himself ..trying to use the current Suarez media bashing against him bty first of all bumping him off the ball for no reason then falling to floor and pointing when there was no challenge.(whether he touched I cannot confirm until a replay) but I heard there was nothing to it all.

LINESMAN was in a clear position for the 2nd Offside goal but he must be a mind reader if knows when the ball was meant to be going.

If he is not intefering then he should not be on the pitch as somebody once said.

Anyway I think today was a good game for AC to get of his chest and overall his performance was good. He could have easily buckled under the fans abuse but he actually gave an allround performance and looked hungry. Now if he can imagine he is playing them every week!

Under the rules Reina had to go but newcastle fans should be ashamed of perch - first the cynical trip and then clutching his face when any contact was very minimal. Thing is, it is already forgotten, barely mentioned in the meeja and it will happen again very very soon. The answer is fairly simple - retrospective reds for simulation' and a charge of bringing the game into disrepute and 3 game ban - same for Carroll. It will only take a few bans to sink in.
Report mtoto2 • April 2, 2012 1:31 PM BST
there was contact , therefore you can't guess at how much a player was injured by it. impossible to police. can't give someone a ban for conjecture.
Report Can't Catch Me • April 2, 2012 1:56 PM BST
It was quite clearly a red card. Reina should know better.

Yes Perch should be embarassed, but I reckon almost every player in the league would have reacted like he did. Just a sign of the incredibly sad times. We cant deny that every single one of our outfield players would have done the same, so I dont see the point in moaning about it. I just hope we dont appeal.

I actually think we are one of the worost teams in the league for this now. Kenny seems to have taken his own self pity and transferred it to his players.

I was once head butted in an amateur match with significantly more force than Reina / Perch.  It chipped a front tooth but it never occurred to me to go down because it didn't hurt.

However much contact yesterday, perch was not hurt.  It has just become the norm for players to exaggerate injury to influence the ref.  I know they won't do it, but perch, and others doing the same thing, should be hauled in front of the disciplinary panel and get a ban.  That would soon stop it.
Report mexicano • April 2, 2012 5:15 PM BST
i see a bit of realism creeping in here. of course most players would have gone down , but why????????????

COULD IT BE THAT THEY'RE NOT CONFIDENT ENOUGH IN THE REFEREE TO MAKE THE CORRECT DECISION THEREFORE DOWN THEY GO GIVING HIM A DECISION TO MAKE?

I reckon that is somewhere near the mark, and therefore the refs have to take an element of the blame for the amount of diving going on..

when i was a kid the perception was that a defender had to half kill a forward before a penalty would be given. many a time forwards were kicked to high wycombe and back in the area but if they stayed on their feet and got a shot away, even if they were terribly off balance the defenders were not sanctioned.
recently it's been deemed that it's ok to go down on contact, and that's become accepted. BUT HOW MUCH CONTACT?

SO DOWN THEY GO.

some now "look" for a contact, or [worse still] initiate the contact. and the great and the good of the world of punditry pontificate that there was contact, therefore it's ok to go down, therefore it's a pen.

perch knew there was contact.

he also knew that the way the game is refereed nowadays that is considered violent conduct.

so down he goes giving the ref a decision to make [some might say refereeing the game himself] ensuring reina gets his "deserved" red card.

compared to a few years ago refereeing the game in the penalty area has been turned upside down.

as i said earlier contact with the feet had to be outrageous to get you a pen, but there was no contact with the hand/arm.

nowadays the slightest contact with the feet is deemed a pen whereas you can pull the shirt off somebody but there's no sanction.

yesterdays episode would not have gotten a second glance.

RANT OVER.
Report mtoto2 • April 2, 2012 5:17 PM BST
you can't ban players for going down as you are guessing how much it hurt the individual. if there is contact of course.
Report berto77 • April 2, 2012 5:19 PM BST
No-one is guessing.  He wasn't hurt, that is obvious from the footage.
Report mtoto2 • April 2, 2012 5:19 PM BST
perhaps increase bans to 6 games for putting head in someones face and the initial aggression might not occur. at the end of the day football is an emotional game and in the heat of the moment things happen that in hindsight people would do differently.
Report mexicano • April 2, 2012 5:19 PM BST
dead right mate

there was contact.

and it would be pure conjecture to say that perch over dramatised the effect of that contact.

no matter what you might think.
Report mtoto2 • April 2, 2012 5:25 PM BST
your opinion berto , i think its guessing to actually ban a player for simulation if contact has been made, how many times have you seen a foul, eg an elbow where it actually looks like minimal contact yet the injury sustained is horrific.
Report berto77 • April 2, 2012 5:27 PM BST
If a panel of 100 people watched the incident, I think 99 out of 100 would think the player exaggerated the contact.

If they don't introduce retrospective bans, how can it be eliminated from the game?
Report Solano1 • April 2, 2012 5:28 PM BST
It will be eliminated when other players stop sticking their head in other players faces.

In the meantime, players will continue to go down.
Report mexicano • April 2, 2012 5:35 PM BST
if they introduce retrospective bans for divers and all other miscreants within the game we'll be watching 5 a sides .
