So no, he answered an honest question with a sly/not-so-sly dig at City. Now, you might feel he had no ulterior motive, but I think that's a bit naive.

To be fair he was asked if the Manchester aspect of the Premiership gave it an edge. He went on to discuss the edge that he had experienced in the City with more City fans on show than he has noticed before. I don't quite understand your problem. Is it not his right to say that? Is it not a statement of fact? I live in Manchester and what he says is true. See a lot more 'City' fans on show than even a few years back. Why does this make him stupid?

Ferdinand is spot on to be fair to him. I've seen people in City shirts this year that i've known for 35 years and I didn't even know they had an interest in football prior to that. Although in most years being a City fan and having no interest in football weren't always mutually exclusive.

As he was  200 miles away and at school when United starting to become successful I think we can forgive him for not adding any caveats about it being the same 20 years ago with United fans.
