To be fair he was asked if the Manchester aspect of the Premiership gave it an edge. He went on to discuss the edge that he had experienced in the City with more City fans on show than he has noticed before. I don't quite understand your problem. Is it not his right to say that? Is it not a statement of fact? I live in Manchester and what he says is true. See a lot more 'City' fans on show than even a few years back. Why does this make him stupid?

Ferdinand is spot on to be fair to him. I've seen people in City shirts this year that i've known for 35 years and I didn't even know they had an interest in football prior to that. Although in most years being a City fan and having no interest in football weren't always mutually exclusive.

I think he's just stating the obvious, in the 11 years or so he's been in Manchester the City fans will be more visible than ever, he may or may not have been having a pop/wind up. Only he knows that.
As he was 200 miles away and at school when United starting to become successful I think we can forgive him for not adding any caveats about it being the same 20 years ago with United fans. In answer to your question I don't think stating the obvious can be considered stupid or necessarily a wind up so i'd say neither. |
