Can't get my head round the 2/1 on Hudders

10 points clear of Stevenage (4th v 7th), 13 goal better difference, beat Exeter at the weekend 2-0 while Stevenage lost 2-0.

They've a new manager in Simon Grayson who they'll want to impress.

Missing Jordan Rhodes fair enough, but they've Alan Lee who can partner Lee Champagne Super Novak

And the team news gives them a chance

Team news for Tuesday's League One clash between Stevenage and Huddersfield at Broadhall Way.

Leading scorer Chris Beardsley is an injury concern for Stevenage.

Beardsley was forced off midway through the first half of the defeat to League One leaders Charlton on Saturday with a hamstring problem.

The nine-goal striker is being assessed by the club's medical staff but is a doubt.

Jon Ashton also went off at The Valley after complaining of blurred vision following a clash of heads with Boro skipper Mark Roberts. However, the defender should be fit to face the Terriers on Tuesday night.

Stevenage have dropped out of the play-off places after back-to-back defeats and manager Gary Smith knows the visit of fourth-placed Huddersfield has now taken on more significance.

He said: "The disappointment now is we've lost two games on the spin but we'll look towards Tuesday's game which is an important fixture for us given that Carlisle won late on against Yeovil on Saturday."

Meanwhile, Huddersfield will be without leading goalscorer Jordan Rhodes as Simon Grayson takes charge of his second game since replacing Lee Clark as manager.

Rhodes, who scored his 30th goal of the season in Saturday's 2-0 win over Exeter, is on international duty with Scotland Under-21s, but could be doubtful after suffering a dead-leg at the weekend.

Alan Lee partnered Rhodes in Grayson's first game in charge against Exeter, with Lee Novak stepping off the substitutes' bench, but Kallum Higginbotham, a recent signing from Falkirk, provides another option and Danny Cadamarteri can also play in a central attacking role.

Grayson has no new injury or suspension worries, but skipper Peter Clarke and midfielder Tommy Miller both remain sidelined after respective double hernia operations.

Town are currently fourth in the table, four points behind second-placed Sheffield United.

I'm taking the early 2/1, as I can see them going off 6/4ish. Medium Stakes

Good luck all

Good post but you ignore the importance of ground advantage,
and that is the reason why Stevenage are favourite. If at
Hudeersfield, they (Huddersfield) would be around evens IMO.

I don't think home advantage makes a difference to be honest. Tonight, man for man Huddersfield are FAR superior and will have something to prove to Grayson

You've answered your own question there.

Having seen Stevenage on saturday though, i can see them falling away. They created hardly anything and they've struggled to score lately too. Also looking at their season, yes they've got 44 goals, but 20 of those came in 4 big wins earlier on in the season. Take those 4 games out of the equation and they're averaging less than a goal a game.

I'd say Huddersfield are a decent bet at those odds but you might be better off just laying Stevenage.

How can you say home advantage doesnt make a difference? Thats just so ignorant ... Why dont you just bet on the better team in every game since it doesnt make any difference? You should be Richie Rich by now ;)

Dont think you can underestimate the fact that Rhodes isnt playing tonight scored 17 goals in 9 of Huddesfields away games in league 1 this season a great scoring record, In fact the rest of the team put together away from home this season only have 14 goals thats more than half of there goals he's scored.

I think tonight id rather be laying Huddesfield at the price 2-1 seems a little on the short side for me without the threat of Rhodes. Stevenage are a very well drilled team very organised and dont seem to leak many goals. Id say tonight the draw seems most likely to me anyway however I dont usually touch the draw 5-2 seems a decent price.

Stevenage have been very inconsistent this season.  It doesnt look that way in terms of results, that's partly because their defence is excellent, but their performances have been very up and down.  They followed 2 of their worst performance against Wycombe and Leyton Orient with their best performance of the season away at Reading and a 5-1 win at Rochdale.  I saw us beat Rochdale 4-2 which was flattering, near the start of this season and thought we might struggle to stay up, yet our win against Sheffield United was very comfortable despite the scoreline.  They were poor away at Charlton, but they were excellent 6 days earlier at home to Spurs.  It's a game which may have taken its toll on them mentally and if they do fall away it will be due to mental fatigue and missing their talismanic manager rather than physical fitness as they are supremely fit.  They've been much stronger in the second half of the season for the last 3 seasons and if you take away the last 2 losses they've actually got the best recent form in the division and overall they are much improved from the start of the season.  I expect us to fall away next season, because I expect we'll lose a few players (Bostwick, Wilson and Laird will all probably go)

Yes they are limited and one dimensional in attack.  The injury to Craig Reid hasnt helped as he was playing the best football of his Stevenage career just prior to it.

Be good when they knock the shed that is the North stand down and build a half decent replacement.  I know its planned in the next year or two.  The Spurs replay will help pay for it.

Could be right BTTS.  All the big guns have lost at Broadhall Way this season

Too right Clydebank ! At the latest fans forum we was told they want it done this year, ideally move away fans into that, and home fans into the south Excited
Only today they've took down loads of trees along by players entrance so signs are good

You're not wrong, can honestly say when i went there earlier this season i think it's the worst ever league ground i've been to.

Also i have to add that Stevenage had a guy up front on saturday (i think his name was Charles), who was awful. If he is up front tonight, then i can't see him posing Hudds too much of a threat.

You must have caught Charles on an off day Biscuit.  He's miles better than Ben May and has caused plenty of sides problems this season and last.  I've never seen Ben May even look like scoring whatever the opposition.

He's a lump so i guess his physical presence might cause a few problems but actual ability-wise he looked lost. He came on as a sub for Beardsley and i thought he was a centre back they'd just chucked up front

I shall be at Stevenage this evening, much against
my better judgement. The last time I went, I was
looking at my watch after 15 mins, that was when
they lost 2-1 against Notts county, despite being
award a penalty in the first 10 mins. I just hope
it's a good game, although I'm not holding my
breath as watching Borough is hard work.

Well he was a centreback/left back until halfway through last season.  I got 40s first goalscorer twice last season before the other punters realised.  He was probably our most influential player in last seasons play offs.  A cross between Heskey and Alan McInally would be how I view him.

They are going to be at their weakest all season up front tonight with no Freeman Beardsley or Reid
