Why when a manager gets sacked from numerous clubs for poor performance does he get another managers job in football.
I know if I was employing someone who had been sacked numerous times before I would not employ him.
Mick McCarthy is linked with the Leeds job. His record Millwall resigned under massive presure to quit, Ireland same story. Sunderland sacked, Wolves sacked.
Why on earth would anyone employ him to manage their side.
I know a lot of people on here wont like leeds and hope they do badly, but why does a chairman choose to employ such muppets!!

Real life as it were is completely different from the football world so it's difficult to compare the two situations like for like.
As for McCarthy and Leeds. He got Sunderland and Wolves promoted to the Premier League did he not? |

At Sunderland and Wolves he got teams promoted on relatively small budgets. That is a track record any half decent chairman would be interested in. He's a proven SUCCESS at the level Leeds are currently at. Obviously if he gets them promoted then Bates needs to decide what to do. But, after a few failed attempts, that would be a nice decision for him to have to make! |

He has always left a club in a worse state than when he started. Gets them on the up and them it crumbs and falls very quickly.
On consistency in any of his previous jobs. Cant see why anyone would employ him. |

A successful football manager needs to know only two things. When to join and when to leave and this appears to be beyond most of them.

He took over a decimated Wolves squad, found a whole clutch of players for next to nothing that three years later won the league. That squad is pretty much still the basis of the Wolves team and somehow survived two seasons in the Prem. We are now significantly better off than before MM. He would be a perfect manager for any number of Championship teams. |

Yes he got Sunderland and Wolves promoted.... well done.
Then get sacked 6 months later and the team gets relegated, no progress in either case. Got Millwall relegated too! |

In my 30 years as a Wolves supporter Wolves hadn't managed to stay in the top flight for more than one season. Mick has managed to keep us up for 3 years running. Barring 1 season in 2003 we hadn't been in the top flight since 1984. So how leaving us as a top flight club is leaving us in a worst state I don't know! As brngtwt says, what he took over is NOTHING like how he leaves the club. A squad of 12 players has been replaced by Fletcher, Jarvis, Doyle, Kightly, etc. If I was manager of a Championship club on an average budget I'd be on the phone to him. |

Mick McCarthy is Wolves most successful manager in the last 30 years. Not only did he win the Championship, he kept Wolves in the Premier League. Twice. He also won the Championship with Sunderland. Some people really are thick if they cannot see that McCarthy is a good manager with an excellent record of getting teams into the Premier League.

Surely any decent chairman has to look to the young up and coming chairman to try to take the club forward. People always go on about experience but that is total b*ll*cks.
Lee Clark, looks to be a good up and coming manager. Paul Lambert wouldnt leave norwich, but looks good. Chris Houghton nick him off Birmingham (he wouldnt have to move house then!) There are plenty of up and coming managers, you dont need to sign the Paul Jewells and Mick McCarthy of the management world to mess up your clubs. |

Okay he gets them there or thereabouts but when it comes to the crunch they've fallen short consistently over the past few seasons. |

The point is that good managers can be sacked and go on do an excellent job elsewhere. McCarthy will fall into this category.

Mick would be great for Leeds, proven to do a good job at that level, just a bit questionable at the next level, and seemed limited beyond a relegation struggle for us
