Not on here, but on Bet 365.

Germany U21's v San Marino U21's

Germany clean sheet
Germany to win to nil
How many teams will score

All the same/similar markets.

They go 2/5 (1.4) on Germany

I could bore you with facts like San Marino's U21s haven't scored in 16 games going back four years.
Or Germany have beaten them 6 and 11 in that period.
Or San Marino have only ever scored one away goal in their history, and that was in 2005.

But one fact I will leave you with is.....It's San Bloody Marino.

Tomorrow's World Cup Qualifiers

North Korea v Japan. Tuesday, 7am.

I watched Japan on Friday, and though there was a 10 minute spell when Tajikistan caused them 1-2 problems,
Japan coped admirably with the conditions and their class came through. In the end they won in a canter.

Importantly Japan can't rest on their laurels as Uzbekistan are pushing them all the way, and the group is likely to be decided when the top two meet early next year.

However North Korea are out.
I actually read a match report (can't remember which website though) from their last home game, from the perspective of a Western journalist.
Which is odd because they don't let many people into the country, nevermind their football stadia.

Apparently it was another hapless display, in a group where they've scored one goal, at home to even more hapless Tajikistan.
That is their only goal in their last six games, but prior to that they beat Nepal and Afghanistan.
They're not the most credible of results, and it's when they're playing the elite nations of Asia they struggle, and Japan are the best in the region.

North Korea don't concede many, but I expect Japan to grind them down eventually and probably win 1-0 or 2-0.
Even a goalless draw wouldn't harm Japan, as victory in their last group game will see them into the next round.

In the same group

Uzbekistan v Tajikistan. Tuesday, 1pm

I've said plenty about this group in this thread and last Friday. Suffice to say Tajikistan are woeful.
So woeful that they've already been eliminated once from the World Cup.

Syria fielded an ineligible player in the previous round, so were disqualified.
That was the last time the Tajik's scored, and that was 500 minutes ago.

The Uzbek's have built their success on a sound defence. Only Japan have scored against them in the last six,
This has the makings of a low scoring game, possibly 1-0, 2-0.

Both teams to score - NO

Bwin 1.5
Hills 1.36

Not sure if any other firms will price this up for tomorrow.

Still in Asia, and Group 5.

Indonesia v Iran. Tuesday, noon.

It's very similar to the Japan group, this time it's Iran who are trying to fend off lesser nations.
They're level on points with Qatar, and 3 ahead of Bahrain, so they can't afford to slip up against thw whipping boys.

They got a last minute equaliser at the weekend in Bahrain, and though I'm no fan of their coach (Carlos Queiroz) surely they'll have enough to see off Indonesia.
Prior to Friday they had kept 10 clean sheets in their last 11 games (in 90 minutes) and they face a side who have failed to score in 5 of their last six.

A losing bet today but still profitable overall, both today and throughout the whole thread.

International football is closing down for a wee while now.
There is the Pan Arab games next month, and there should be a couple of one sided games.
Not sure if any bookies will be betting on it though.

January is the Cup of Nations, and with plenty of big nations failing to qualify it should be an interesting tournement.

I have one final bet for tonight/early hours of Wednesday.

It's a dead rubber but it's still a miss match.

Panama v Dominica, 1am, Wed

Panama have won all three group games, including a 5-0 away win in Dominica.
Dominica have lost all three and failed to score.
In fact they haven't scored in their last six games.

Julio Dely Valdes (remember him? La Liga & Serie A), the coach of Panama has said he want's to go out with a bang, though he is mixing up his team.
It will be a mix of senior players and a sprinkling of their U23 Olympic team.

A lot of these players play in decent South American leagues, where as the Dominca squad don't seem to play anywhere outside their own country.

Another shortie for today, but I can't see it failing (famous last words)

Kettering v Luton

You will probably know that Kettering are on their arse, with a real chance of going out of existence.

They have only 10 registered players, and think they'll only have one sub today, if you believe their local press.

http://www.northantset.co.uk/sport/f...ment_1_3371115

They played the reverse fixture on Boxing Day, with Luton winning 5-0 at a canter.
Reports say they never got out of second gear but the Poppies keeper kept it semi respectable.
Some say they could have hit double figures if they wanted to.

Although it is a home game, Luton are taking 2000, and some Ketering fans are boycotting the match, so I'd imagine Luton will probably have 65% - 75% of the crowd.

Pretty short odds, but I can see a similar score to Monday.

1.25 are generally available, similar to Monday, when I backed them.

I managed to get on @ 1.35 on Betfair, and there's still 1.33 ish available.
It's also in play in case you want to lay off after they score.

If you don't want to back at such short odds, the Asians are worth a small investment.

Luton -1.75

This means if they win by 2 you win half (A £10 bet becomes a £5 bet, with the oher £5 returned)
If they win by 3 goals you win.

Cote d'Ivoire v Sudan. 4pm

These are from opposite spectrums of African football, there's over 100 places between them in the FIFA rankings.

Cote d'Ivoire qualified winning all six group games, while Sudan only got in as one of the best runners up.

They haven't scored in their last five, albeit the last three were agains decent opposition (all friendlies)
But they played competitve football last month in the Pan Arab Game where they finished 3rd (of 4) in a group containing Palestine and Jordan.

Their squad is made up of players playing domestically, while Ivory Coast can pick players from the likes of Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal & Stuttgart.

Ivory Coast won their two warm up games withou conceding, and whilst I don't trust them (especially at the price) to win the tournement, this should be a formality.

The Iran U21's won 4-0 last week.

One clean sheet bet for today, and another "obscure" league.

Aris Limassol v Anorthosis. Cypriot League. 4pm

The top four are way ahead in this league and Anorthosis have conceded just 7 goals all season in 18 games, with just two conceded on their travels.

They have kept 8 clean sheets in their last ten games, including their last six.
They drew last week, but before that won six on the spin, and 8 from 9.

Aris average less than a goal a game, 14 in 18. Admittedly it's at home where they get the majority of them. 11 in 9 games.
That is a slight concern, but they have failed to score in their last three games, one of those a cup game, and have one goal in five.

As I said, a slight concern, but with Anorthosis's excellent defensive record this has to be worth a bet.

Not many firms bet on Cypriot football, but I have found three that do.

Both teams to score - NO 1.53 Paddy Power

Istanbul BB v Ankaragucu. Turkish League, 11am

Ankaragucu have failed to score in 11 of their last 12 League games.
The manin concern is Istanbul's fraility at the back, and their lack of clean sheets.
None in their last 11, and just one in 15, but they are decent goal scoring form.

I think it's worth mentioning last week's Turkish bet.

Ankaragacu failed to score again yesterday.
I did look at backing this, but they were at home to the second bottom team so I erred on the side of caution and left it alone.
They lost 3-0. That's nine League games without a goal, and they've failed to score in 13 of their last 14.

Definitely one for the notebook.

They travel to third bottom side, Karabukspor next week, who to be fair don't keep many clean sheets (But neither did Istanbul BB prior to last weeks bet). Only three all season, but they are in decent form and are scoring goals. They've socred two goals in 8 of their last 9, and scored one goal in the other game.
Report TRFC Kev February 22, 2012 6:53 PM GMT
I thought about putting up three of my favourites bets up today. Two were in the Georgian League, and given my knowledge is limited on that part of the world, and with it being first game back after the winter break, I decided against it. Both won.

The other was/is Celtic, and it's probably worth a small interest.

It's top v bottom, and Celtic are on an amazing run of 15 straight wins in the league.
They've kept four straight clean sheets, and have conceded just tow goals in 12 games.

The Pars are not goal shy, but do have injury concerns ahead of tonight's game.
They also lost 3-0 to Celtic, at home last month.

You wouldn't want to be backing Celtic @ 1.14, but it's fairly reasonable to back them @ 1.75 to win to nil.

But the main reason I came on here is one for the weekend, as mentioned a couple of days ago.

There's a team in Turkey who have failed to score in their last 9, and 13 of their last 14.
They've also lost their last 8.

Karabukspor v Ankaragucu. 11am, Saturday.

Karabukspor are in decent form, winning 4 of their last five.
The thing is they haven't kept a clean sheet in their last 13, but I had the very same bet two weeks ago
against Istanbul BB and they had similar stats, something like 12-13 without a clean sheet. (further up this thread)

Ankaragucu have been in my notebook for a while, but I bottled playing it last week as they were at home to the team second bottom of the league. Result: Ankaraguc lost 3-0.

Karabukspor are generally 1.1 to win. That's 1/10 in old money. But there's decent prices to be had in my type of bet.

A Deryneia v AEL

I've posted a bet in this league before.
There is such a wide gap between the top four and the rest in this League.
This game see's 2nd bottom host the league leaders, with a massive 39 points seperating them after 21 games.

It's also the best defence, with just 7 conceded by AEL, versus the second lowest scorers.
13 goals in 21 games, and just one win.

The home side have just one point from their last 14 games, shocking form, and at home it's just as bad.
They managed a goal in their last home game, but failed to score in their previous five home games.

AEL have 4 straight clean sheets, and 8 in their last 10. Also 8 from their last 10 away games.

Anyway International football is back, so that can mean only one thing - Wonga!!

It's not the best round of matches, especially as the European's are only involved in friendlies.

However there is serious stuff going on in Asia, Africa and European U21's.

And It's Asia where I'll start.

Japan v Uzbekistan. Wednesday, 10.30am

Friends of this thread will know all about the Japan/Uzbekistan group, and how the two of them have qualified with excellent defensive records.

They meet in the final group game, in what is, to a degree, a dead rubber.
However I'm pretty sure Japan will want to finish top, and they need a win to secure that.
Uzbekistan just need a draw, and with them not the most prolific nation's in terms of goals, I suspect their aim is to go to Toyota and keep it night, hoping for a 0-0.

That's one reason to have the usual bet in this game, but there are others.

Zacceroni has a full strength squad. All the big boys from Europe have travelled (suggesting they're taking this seriously)
They beat Iceland 3-1 last week, but it was domestic players only, and the Icelandic goal came in injury time from the penalty spot
.
That Iceland goal was the first conceded on Japanese soil in ten games, dating back to May 2010.

Uzbekistan will not have a full squad to choose from after FIFA sanctioned five players who all got deliberately booked in a previous game to avoid suspensions in the next round.

Japan are a real Asian powerhouse and I'd expect them to win this anyway, but because of the differing strength's of both squads, it just adds a little more confidence to the bet.

Tajikistan v North Korea. Wednesday, 8am

This is based on Tajikistan's ineptness.
They've lost all five group games with a goal difference of 0-17

North Korea can be untrustworthy (In a fooballing sense in case the Dear Leader is reading this)
They beat Japan at home despite having a man sent off.
Their last result was a 1-1 friendly draw with Kuwait, but this campaign has been all about goals, or lack of them.
Scored 2, conceded 3.
In fact their last 8 World Cup qualifiers have finished 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1.

I've seen bits of both these sides in this campaign, and it wouldn't surprise me if this finished 0-0 or 1-0 to North Korea.
Not one for big stakes, but worth a punt none the less.

Both teams to score - NO  I took the early 1.61 with Paddy Power, but it's 1.66 with Sky & S James

On to the European U21's

San Marino v Cyprus. Wednesday, 7.30pm

We have to stick with our favourite cash cow, San Marino.
Played 6, lost 6, scored 0, conceded 28.

In those six games they've had just six shots on target and two corners.
I actually watched a bit of one of the games v Germany, and they played a formation even Les Parry daren't try.
They played without a striker!

From what I can gather, the U21's haven't scored in their last 20 games.

Admittedly Cyprus aren't great, but at least they've had a couple of wins. They beat Bosnia and won the reverse fixture with San Marino 6-0.

San Marino are the gift that keeps giving so we have to stick with this one.

I'm not even going to bother with the Both teams to score because San Marino always concede, so Cyprus will win anyway (I hope I'm not tempting fate)

Two more today, but one is in 45 minutes.

Iraq v Singapore. Wednesday, 1.45pm

Another dead rubber, but Iraq still have a chance of top spot when they face bottom side, Singapore.

Singapore have just one goal in this campaign, back in the first game v China.
It was scored by their talisman, the 41 year old Bosnian born,Duric.

It looks like he's not playing. He didn't play in the Azerbaijan friendly last week, and reports in Singapore suggest the coach is being experimental in anticipation of the Suzuki Cup later this year.

Zico is talking up his chance of grabbing top spot, and he has a point, as Jordan have to travel to China.

I tipped Iraq to beat China back in November, and the deservedly won with a last minute goal.
Since then they've had a poor Pan Arab Games (not sure how seriously they take it) and a friendly defeat in Lebanon (who have vastly improved lately)

Not one for big money, but with Singapore being poor, and it being a young inexperienced side, Iraq should really be keeping a clean sheet in this one.

Andorra's last goal came 7 games ago in the Faroe Islands. That remains their only away goal ever as far as I can tell.

Bit of a tough group for the Welsh, with a couple of long journey's, but they've done ok so far.
They are 2-1-2, beating Montenegro and Andorra (1-0), getting a 0-0 draw in Armenia, and only losing 1-0 to the Czech's.

Despite the sad loss of Gary Speed, Welsh football is on the up, at club and international level, and this is a game they are expected to win, and win with something to spare.

Bursaspor v Ankaragucu. Turkey, 3.30pm

Bursaspor have only conceded 9 goals at home this season, and have 3 clean sheets in their last four home games, and 5 in 7.

Ankaragucu did score in a couple of recent games, but reverted type last week, losing to nil, and have failed to score in 9 of their last 11, which all ended in defeat.

Not many firms betting on the lesser markets on this game, but VC go 1.57 for Bursaspor to keep a clean sheet, but there's a better price on here.

I put this in my other thread instead of this one.

Have to be quick as i kicks off at 7pm

Volendam v Emmen, 7pm Holland

Emmen are in finacial dire straits and haven't scored in their last nine, and looked doomed to relegation.
They have five players missing tonight.

Volendam are nothing special but have won 3 of their last 4.
They don' keep many clean sheets, but this bet is all about Emmen's severe problems.

Both teams to score - No

Evens Paddy Power

Or there's a little bit of liquidity on here in the Volendam clean sheet market, where you can get 2.08

First day of the month - Pay Day. Or to give it it's real title, International Football Week.

The usual bets should make us a few quid.

San Marino, the team that keeps on giving.

San Marino U21's v Greece U21's. 7.30pm

San Marino actually scored in their last game, but I'm guessing there was a Blue Moon that night, because that's how often they score.
But if you look through this thread you will see all the stats to show you how poor both the full and U21 sides are.

Greece to win to nil. 1.36 Bet365
Both teams to score - NO. 1.33 Bet365 or Hills

Another U21 game.

Luxembourg U21's v Holland U21's. 5.30pm

These bets are not the absolute certainty they once was. Luxembourg have slowly progressed at both full international and U21 level.
In fact Luxembourg have scored four goals already in this campaign, but they're playing a side today several levels above them, and they're aim will be to keep the score repsectable.

Holland have kept five clean sheets in their last six, and 4 from 5 in the group stages.
I actually watched the game when they conceded.
They lost 2-1 at home to Scotland, with a certain Jordan Rhodes on the scoresheet.
I have to say I was very impressed with Scotland that day, who defended well and played some tidy counter attacking football.
I think I can safely say Luxembourg will not be doing the same today.

Holland to win to nil. 1.5 Paddy Power
Both teams to score - NO. 1.5 Paddy Power

World Cup qualifiers all around the World this weekend, except for Europe, obviously, and there's a team I've had my eye on for a while. Mainly because they seem to be playing every week.

Egypt v Mozambique. 7pm

The ex USA manager, Bob Bradley is in charge of Egypt now, and he's had ample opportunity to see his team at first hand and get enough game time in preparation for their World Cup campaign, which starts tonight.

Unbeaten in ten games in 2012, they've kept four clean sheets in seven. The only teams to score against them are Nigeria, Cameroon, and the improving Lebanon.

In African terms Mozambique are Third Division, and have scored just one goal in their last four (v Tanzania)
You have to go back to 2007 for the last time they actually scored a goal against a nation higher ranked than themselves, so even though this game is being played behind closed doors, I fully expect Egypt to make light work of this game, and keep a clean sheet.

Both teams to score - NO. Genarally 1.33 - 1.36, but around 1.5 on Betfair
Egypt clean sheet. 1.33 with Paddy Power and Hills but around 1.54 on Betfair
To win to nil. 1.44 Paddy Power. There's a little bit of 1.61 on Betfair, but nothing has been matched yet in that market.

I've gone for the Egypt clean sheet.

Egypt 2 Mozambigue 0
Luxembourg 0 Holland 5

3/3, though not great odds.

I have two today at better odds.

Cote d'Ivoire v Tanzania 6pm

Cote d'Ivoire are one of the best sides in Africa. They really should have won the Cup of Nations, missing a penalty in the final.
They cruised through the whole tournement without conceding.
They go into this game on the back of nine games withou conceding.

Tanzania have scored just once in their last four, and that against Mozambique, who I spoke about in my last post.

Drogba has said he will retire after this World Cup campaign, so I'm sure their talisman will be more determined to get his side to another World Cup, especially as this should be the easiest group game.

Ivory Coast to win to nil. 1.53 Paddy Power
Both teams to score - NO. 1.34 Bwin

Poland v Andorra 4pm

Only a friendly but at the prices it has to be worth a punt. And it's only Andorra. And Poland are heading into the Euro's in decent, solid form.

We all know about Andorra's lack of goals, so I won't bore you with stats.
Poland come into the game on the back of four straight clean sheets, though they haven't been free scoring.

It will be typical Andorra. Keep it tight as long as possible, something they often do, so I'm guessing it won't be pretty.
You would think with Lewandowski in their side they would bag themselves plenty of goals, but Andorra are adept at keeping it tight for long periods.
The odds on Both teams to score are far too good to miss out on, even if it is a friendly

Both teams to score - NO. 1.45 Bwin

Some info on the Cameroon v DR Congo WC qualifier.

Poland are now 1.57 to win to nil and in the Both Teams to Score market (covers 0-0) at Bet365.

To me that is an absolutely crazy price, especially given both teams form.

I've topped up, it would be rude not too at those odds.

One more for tonight.

France U21's v Latvia U21's. 7.50pm

Both have perfect record in this qualifying campaign. France won 5 from 5, scoring 12 and conceding none.

Latvia are the opposite. Played 4, lost 4. Scored 0 conceded 13

France are actually on a six game winning run without conceding., so a win tonight should see them edge closer to qualifying in a group they're dominating.

Both teams to score - NO 1.48 Bwin
France to win to nil 1.5 Paddy Power.

I've also done a fun correct score treble that pays around 200/1

Ivory Coast 2-0 & 3-0
Poland 2-0 & 3-0
France U21's 2-0 & 3-0
Report TRFC Kev June 3, 2012 9:30 AM BST
6/6 this weekend.

Also I missed out on the 214/1 correct score treble yesterday by one goal.

Poland won 4-0, which included two soft penalties. They subbed Lewandowski early in the second half, and the game looked like it was petering out until the second half penalty.

One, possibly two more for today.

I wasn't going to get involved in this game, but the odds are very tempting, so I will have small bet.

Japan v Oman 11.30am

Japan, usually one of Asia's powerhouse's stumbled through their last qualifying group.
They even lost at home to (admittedly an improving) Uzbekistan.

There is little room for slip ups in this round of qualifiers. Only two are guaranteed to qualify, and with Australia and Iraq in the same group, a win over Oman, the lowest ranked side in the group, is imperative

That's not to say it will be easy. Oman are unbeaten in 7, which includes a win over Australia.
However they're not the best of travelers. They haven't scored in their last four away games, which included a 3-0 defeat in Thailand.

Japan are generally solid defensively when it comes to serious games, especially at home.
They've only conceded 6 goals in their last 16 World Cup qualifiers at home, so they really should be seeing sides like Oman off without too much trouble.

Considering they're only around 1.17 to win the game, 1.7 to win to nil (W Hill) looks pretty big, but I'm going to play it more cautiously in the BTTS market.

Both teams to score - NO 1.53 Hills and Corals.

I might get involved in the Spain game tonight. China are average, and it's the last warm up game before the World Champions face Italy, so I'd imagine Del Bosque might go with his Euro starting XI.

I was going to leave the Spain game alone, but the odds are too good to miss.

Hills go 1.33, Bet365 go 1.4, so Paddy Power's 1.73 has to be taken.

Spain v China 9pm

Though it's not always reliable, Marca have Spain starting with Llorente, Negredo and Mata, who will all be playing to secure a spot in the starting X1 for next week. (Personally I'd go with Llorente)

Spain score for fun so should really win this with something to spare.

China are starting (if Marca are to be believed) with quite a strong team, and are managed by a Spaniard, but even though their more forward thinking players are starting, none of them have been free scoring domestically.
And more often than not their goals at international level are scored against the poorer teams in Asia.

It's by no means a certainty, South Korea scored v Spain last week (albeit a Worldy) and Scotland managed one against them in Alicante, but China are nothing special, so hopefully it will be a comfortable night for Spain.

Lithuania U21's v Ukraine U21's 5pm

Lithuania have failed to score in 8 of their last ten games. The two games they did find the net in was in the two games with fellow minnows, Malta.

Here is some snippets from three of their last four match reports on the UEFA site (not including the win over Malta)

Ukraine: Goals from Serhiy Rybalka and Yevhen Shakhov gave the home side their first win in Group 2 against a Lithuania side who rarely threatened.

Slovenia: First-half goals from Robert Berić and Dejan Lazarevič gave Slovenia the ascendancy in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 2 as they completed the double over Lithuania.
Kevin Kampl scored the only goal when the sides met in Lithuania in June, but it was a smoother ride for Slovenia this time.

Sweden: Sweden completed the double over Lithuania in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 2 with a comprehensive victory in Kalmar.

It sounds like they're shocking.

Ukraine haven't pulled up any tree's, but they followed up that first win against Lithuania with a comprehensive 6-0 win over Sweden last week, which still gives them a chance of qualifying from the group.
This is a game in hand on the two leaders, so a win is much needed, and with Lithuania appearing to be dreadful in front of goal, this has to be one for this thread.

Andorra U21's v Czech Rep U21's 4.30pm

Top v bottom..
Czech Rep are 4-1-0 and have conceded just two goals in five games.

Andorra are 0-0-6. They haven't scored and have conceded 23, 8 of those in the reverse fixture.

They're 7 games without a goal, and have just three goals in 17 games, though two of those were against the Faroe Islands (the other v Moldova)

The Czech's don't always keep clean sheets, but that's because of the calibre of opposition they face.
The were beaten semi finalists in last year's tournement, losing in the last five minutes of extra time to the Swiss.

I wasn't expecting decent odds, so I was pleasantly surprised when I checked them out.

Czech Rep to win to nil 1.62 Coral & Bet365

Both teams to score - NO (Covers 0-0) 1.62 Coral

I know I usually only have bets when it's against the minnows of world football, but I'm going to get involved in one less obvious.

Holland U21's v Bulgaria U21 6pm

I spoke about Holland at the weekend

Bulgaria have scored in all but two of their group games, but notably they failed at home to the Dutch.
The U21's haven't been the best of travellers in recent campaign's.
Though they scored twice in Austria in November, they failed to score in their other away game, in Scotland.

Prior to that Austria game they had failed to score in 8 of their previous 9 away games.

Not one for massive money, but at the price has to be worth a bet.

Both teams to score - NO 1.91 Bwin

Holland to win to nil. Evens. Paddy Power

Faroe Islands U21's v Serbia U21's 7pm

This is quite a tight group so Serbia need to keep the pressure on Macedonia and Denmark.

Serbia have only conceded two in five group games, though one was against the Faroes. The Faroes took an early lead in Serbia from a set piece, before the home side rattled five past them.

That was the only goal the Faroe's have scored, as their goal on Friday was a Macedonian own goal.

A set piece and an own goal is all they've mustered in their last 7 games

Serbia don't keep a great deal of clean sheets, but do come into this game on the back of two clean sheets. It would have been three but they conceded a last minute penalty in Macedonia.

This doesn't carry the same confidence as bets involving San Marino and Andorra, but Serbia can ill afford any slip ups here, so they should win this with relative ease.

Both teams to score -NO 1.73 Paddy Power or Stan James.

Serbia to win to nil. 1.83 Paddy Power.

If you're feeling adventurous you could back Both teams to score - NO in the Austria U21's v Luxembourg U21's game @ 1.73 (Corals).
Personally I'm sitting this one out. Austria are nothing special, and Luxembourg have gotten into the nasty habit of actually scoring goals, including two in their last away game in Bulgaria.

Paddy Power go 2 (Evens) in the Liechtenstein U21's v Hungary U21's game, but like the Luxembourg game, I'll swerve this, even though the odds are tempting.

There was a time when anyone v Liechtenstein was a good thing, but that's changing.
Even though they're on a 23 game losing streak, they've actually scored in 3 of their last 5 games, including two v Italy..

Hungary only secured their first group stage win on Friday, thanks to a man of the match performance by ex Tranmere keeper, Peter Gulacsi.
By all accounts Turkey battered them, only for Hungary to pinch it late on.

I came very close to landing a couple of correct score trebles over the weekend, so I'm trying another fun one.

Time to get this show back on the road with a few bets for Friday/Saturday.

USA v Antigua & Barbuda Midnight

I've read American football journalists claiming this could be double figures, and some suggesting anything less than 5 or 6 will be disappointing.

USA are perennial World Cup finalists. They may have a relatively easy qualifying campaign, but there's no doubting they're a decent side.
They have players all across Europe, including the PL, Serie A and the Bundesliga.

Antigua are managed by ex Tranmere loanee, Tom Curtis, who also manages the Island's best club side, who actually play in the third tier of US soccer.

His squad is made up of 17 players from his club side, and a few familiar names from England, including Reading's Mikele Leigertwood.

Although there is a Reading and a Cardiff player in the squad, there's also players from non league clubs like Kendal, Dover and St Albans.

There is no real form to go on. Antigua have never played anyone of the USA's calibre.
They did knock out Haiti, who are ranked higher, in the last round of qualifiers, but it was only on the away goals rule.

They've played four friendlies this year, losing to St Vincent, St Kitt's and T&T.

There's been plenty of shocks from small US sides knocking out MLS sides in the US Open Cup recently, but that's because a lot of MLS didn't take it seriously.

The USA were involved in arguably the greatest ever World Cup shock, beating England 1-0 in 1950, and an Antigua win would probably surpass that.

This is a USA win, it's just a case of how many, and it's hard to see Antigua even scoring.

Mexico v Guyana. Saturday, 1am

The other CONCACAF powerhouse start their campaign at home to what's likely to be the group's whipping boys.

While Mexico have been warming up with wins over Wales, Bosnia and Brazil, Guyana have been getting beat by the likes of Jamaica, Guatemala and St Vincent.

They did knock out T&T in the last round of qualifiers, but let's face it, T&T are nothing special.

There's a couple of familiar names in their squad, Carl and Leon Cort, but other than them, it's made of of players playing their club football in the Caribbean, Croyden and Staines.

Mexico can call on the services of players from the PL, La Liga, Bundesliga, as well as domestic players, in one of the most competitive leagues outside of Europe.

Mexico should get their campaign off to a flyer, and it's hard to see Guyana causing them any problems.

In Asian World Cup qualifiers, the Lebanon v Uzbekistan is an interesting game.

It looks like Lebanon have gone as far as they can, and Qatar beat them with relative ease last week.

Uzbekistan can count themselves very unfortunate to have lost to Iran on the same day.
They totally dominated the match, had a goal wrongly crossed out after officials failed to see the ball cross the line, only to fall for a sucker punch with 10 seconds of injury time left.

They've changed coach since the weekend, bringing in the manager of the countries leading club, who has guided them into the Q/F of the AFC CL.

Uzbekistan won their last qualifying group that included Japan, and conceded just one goal. They also won in Japan.

They were exceptionally strong defensively, but recent friendly results haven't been inspiring, but as I said, Lebanon look to have hit a wall, not helped by not having their talisman out injured.

On the weekend's form I can see Uzbekistan being too strong for Lebanon, but I'm not sure I'll play this game until closer to kick off.

Kazakhstan U21's v France U21's 3.45pm

France top the group with a perfect record, 6-0-0, scoring 15 with no reply. OK, it's a relatively easy group, but you can only beat what's in front of you.
Kazakhstan have scored just once in their four games.

France have already won the group but I'm sure they'll want to continue their 100% record, but it's probably best to keep stakes small.

It's Evens France to win to nil (Paddy Power) but I'm going to take the more conservative bet of:

Both teams to score - NO 1.8 Paddy Power
