I see people betting very often on 1+ goals, the odds usually 1.07-1.11, but the odds on under 4.5 is 1.11 so surely there is the same amount of chance on less than 5 goals being scored?
Or am i missing something?

Because of games like Xerez vs Betis which would make Baby Jesus cry if he bet on under 4.5.

i suppose one of the advantages to doing 1+ goals is that you would get your money back quicker than waiting for the final whistle to go.  I assume that as soon as the first goal goes in on a 1+ goals you get your stake and winnings.
Report Mosschops April 11, 2011 5:13 PM BST
Only if you lay no next goal Heardit.
Report Paulol April 11, 2011 5:14 PM BST
yeah but all the 0-0 or late goal games would kill you off
Report trikidy April 11, 2011 5:17 PM BST
Yeah you only get money if you lay it, meaning you would get a smaller bet back.
Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 5:20 PM BST
always going to be high stakes on both for little profit but 1+ goal just seems to be a safer bet to make then going large on under 4.5
Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 5:22 PM BST
personally i'd rather just pick out teams that don't score many goals and preferably don score many in the 1st half and go for under 2.5 for a trade at half time
Report trikidy April 11, 2011 5:23 PM BST
Debatable, just as much chance of 5 goals being scored than 0 being scored. Any stats on this?

Alex the Greek bets on under 4.5
Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 5:26 PM BST
backing correct scores at what they are at half time is good for a trade too if no goals are scored between 45 to 60 odd mins... for instance i just did the maccabi game, last 5 encounters between them have been 0-0 backed at half time @ 3.9 now trading them off at 1.85.
Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 5:27 PM BST
yeah alex the greek posted a huge loss of around $5k the other day backing under 4.5 lol
Report quin0607 April 11, 2011 5:28 PM BST
about 5k on about 5 different games lol would have been sound today though
Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 5:30 PM BST
nah he lost it on 2 games... although he bottled it on the everton game n traded out for only $1900 odd but lost $2900 on the tottenham game lol
Report trikidy April 11, 2011 5:30 PM BST
That's a lot of loss in a day!
Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 5:31 PM BST
$1900 loss not profit
Report quin0607 April 11, 2011 5:31 PM BST
yeah he posted them 2 first and then had a couple more in the day like the koln game   LaughLaugh

Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 5:35 PM BST
no point in posting they are all every single season average between 2 to 2.9 per game with a cple of 3.1's for every league every season lol
Report SteveJRR April 11, 2011 5:37 PM BST
That list would interest me dimebar8, if you would be so kind

come on guys, you'll have to think a bit harder than this Happy

You'd have been absolutely done up the arse if you did this bet in Portugal yesterday. Porto was 0-0 at HT and 2-3 FT, Rio Ave were 1 down at the break and won 6-1.

I agree in a lot of cases though you'd at least have a chance to trade out, i don't know what stats are for games with over 4.5 though.

Lets just Put it this way:

Betting on Under 4.5 at the Odds that are normaly on offer makes almost no sense under any Circumstances, whilst betting on Over 4.5 under Specific Conditions with the Odds regularily on offer makes pretty much sense :)

Hope that helps (or not) :)
Report dimebar8 April 11, 2011 6:00 PM BST
anna he was just pointing out that more bet on 1+ than under 4.5 when the probability for both is probably around the same...
Report Anna1943. April 11, 2011 6:06 PM BST
Sure thing :)
Report T.M.O April 11, 2011 6:12 PM BST
