Dawsy is a clown about the forum but I don't think there's any debate he's well up on cricket and golf
very blinkered when it comes to football but takes the banter and good for it

McGovern is mildly amusing, unsuccessful as a Newspaper Tipster and seriously disadvantaged having to take a pick every day.

I's very difficult to beat the margins when you HAVE to play. RTB will agree as will kenilworth I'm sure as they are winners. It's not hard to tell who wins here from what they say and how they say it.

I'd agree with an earlier post about McGovern being unable to claim exchange prices. If he posted 2.3 the night before, could be 1.90 in the morning and that would be no good.

I'd agree with some of the stuff Kenilworth posts.

"Sports Bettings No. 1 Tipster" is wide of the mark if that is true but seriously - if anybody hopes to make a living following a comic tipster in the Daily Mirror then they are in the wrong game.

On the other hand, I'd love to see the "Biscuits Tips" thread or "Over 2.5's legendary betting thread" etc but I sincerely doubt either will be forthcoming.

I agree that he can't really win, given the nature of his column.  He's forced to tip Will Hill prices (if it's correct that his column is "endorsed" by them) and can't be beating SPs every day as it'd be bad business for Will Hill.  Therefore he's effectively betting at SP or worse each day, which means he'll lose barring an exceptionally lucky streak.

Disagree that having to pick one selection a day is tough, but the price he tips up pretty much has to be there for people, else his column is a bit pointless on the betting front.

I'd like to think that kenilworth plays Devil's Advocate, as otherwise he's talking rubbish (imvho).  But aye, anyone following the tips in this column and expecting to make a long term profit is a bit dim anyway; it's only meant as some light reading and a bit of a laugh.

If you read tonight's Brazilian Serie A thread you'll see i tipped 2 winners. That's more than he had in the first WEEK of me following his tips.

FWIW pretty much everything Rob has just said is spot on though.

Rob, perhaps you could be less vague and identify
for me the rubbish I am posting. Thank you.

Okay, one example is you saying that nobody is brave enough to take him on and put their money where their mouth is etc.  I'd lay virtually all of his bets at the prices he takes.  As I've already alluded to, he's fighting a losing battle as the prices have to be there, or near enough, for his column to have any sort of substance in terms of betting, but you can't honestly think that the guy is tipping up good bet...can you?

McGovern is a reasonably good journalist with a quirky
sense of humour who writes a mildly amusing column on
a daily basis and also throws in a bet pick every day
on various sports. As he doesn't seem to be price
sensitive, and by guessing as he does, will lose around
8% overall, but for all that, he gets savaged by thickos
on here who are very reticent about opposing his bets
(even if they could), only the after timers claim to that.
No, I don't think he is 'tipping up good bets', but nor do
I think he is much worse than most on here, but he doesn't
deserve the criticism he gets. Do you ?
I think he should be savaged the way he does, do you ?

No, but this is the Betfair football forum, where people revel in the misery of others.  We all know the score.

He calls himself a betting guru and sport's top tipster, so I'd say he was setting himself up for a fall, wouldn't you?  I realise that it's all part of the hilarity of his column (which is obviously an acquired taste), but to say that nobody would put their money where their mouth is and take him on is plain wrong.  You say he's not price sensitive and takes any old price, so one would be daft not to take him on.

It's nothing personal against you, ken, I just get the impression you'd argue black is white on this particular issue, so there's not much more to say on it.

I hope it's nothing personal against me,
but regards arguing black was white, I argue
against cheap sniping but you seem to accept
it as par for the course so to speak. Regards
McGovern, he writes for a rag in which there
is hardly anything you can read and believe
so he is par for the course. Sniping at tipsters
is cheap and nasty but you seem to condone it, as
you seem to disagree with my view, perhaps it's
it's what you agree with. That is your problem.
For what it's worth, you seem to disagree with
my views so perhaps you will just be that way as
a matter of course, and no different from me.
Enjoy the company you condone. GL

I don't like the fact that folk have a go at others on here, just saying it's the way it is.  Not really something for me to condone or otherwise, and not much I can do about it; the vast majority of people on here are half wits or like to act like one.

I don't disagree that it's a cheap shot to take (at McGovern), you're twisting my viewpoint to suit your own agenda (quelle surprise).

Good luck to you too.

Mcgovern has been in a tremendous run of form, hence why it has gone quiet.

This thread only springs to life when he has had losers.

It's called the politics of envy. Not one of these forum dwellers has yet become a millionaire laying his tips, nor have they offered a daily one so we can compare.

Well, darn, isn't that a funny thing........Whoops

As i said Charwell i will challenge him in and around 15th of August, football vs football tips,
I have not got a clue who Odesnik or Jurgen Zopp is or even what sport that is

Today's tip, Belarus at 10/11 (doesn't specify which bookie though) to beat NZ in the Men's Olympic football

And Belarus won too above evens on here.

Of course having 6 winners out of 7 is not worthy of a pat on the back. Having a couple of losers on the run is worthy of Front Page headlines.

What a spineless and pathetic bunch of morons who hover like vultures and scarper like rats.
