im sorry but u dont go from being a whisker away from title to nothing in two seasons. liverpool will challenge this season. think chelsea might get it but liverpool will be second. got some good young players and hodgson is kind of manager that will play them. martin kelly future englend left back. he's already better than ashley cole

I always thought Kelly was a RB...
Report ours4keeps August 6, 2010 10:38 AM BST
there's always one
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:39 AM BST
he played left nack last night. can play anywhere along back. might even end up a centre back
Report bornisthekingofSB August 6, 2010 10:40 AM BST
i like their new signing joe cole,he would walk into any side in the country
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:40 AM BST
looks a talent and he's only 20. future fan favourite at liverpool. like a steven gerrard or jamie carracgher
Report Dylan1975 August 6, 2010 10:41 AM BST
need a left back to help the balance of the team out, and hopefully whatever money they get for Mascherano will be used for another forward.

Not convinced a midfield 2 of Poulson and Lucas is good enough, but maybe Gerrard will play exclusively there, and hopefully he can learn to be more disciplined. There were some encouraging signs how Cole, Gerrard, Jovanovic linked up, and add Torres into that and its not bad going forward.
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:43 AM BST
yeah think cole is signing of summer. chelsea, man u, tottenham and arsenal missed a trick there. agree about midfield. lucas is poor. would like to se scott parker as next signing
Report ours4keeps August 6, 2010 10:43 AM BST
Looks like Gerrard's going to be playing centre mid this season so I don't know why we need Poulsen (especially for the figures quoted)

Kelly is going to "make it". I think he'll be alongside Agger at cb in 3 years but till then might do a Carragher-type cover both full back positions and get a good education.
Report waawah August 6, 2010 10:44 AM BST
Kelly will be CM in a few years. Good touch, mobile and decent distribution. Also has a drive reminiscent of an young Gerrard. Big potential imo
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:46 AM BST
yeah poulsen dont seem right to me. think scott parker for 8 million would be way better signing. ive never rated mascherano. he's another mouthy argie. hope roy shows him the door
Report ours4keeps August 6, 2010 10:47 AM BST
I wouldn't mind Flamini if he's cheap enough. Good experience of the prem, a decent player and left-footed.
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:47 AM BST
and lucas following closely behind with paccheo bringing up the rear
Report bornisthekingofSB August 6, 2010 10:51 AM BST
midfield looked ok(lest not forget who you were playing) but could do only what was asked of them, really not sure about Jovanvic)sp?) his first touch looked a bit ify
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:52 AM BST
to be fair it coulda been 10. get torres fit and liverpool got another serious title challenge
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:54 AM BST
although ngog needs to work on his finishing he's only 21 and gets in some gr8 positions. torres influence rubbing off. cud have good season
Report bornisthekingofSB August 6, 2010 10:54 AM BST
i know they love carra but he could well be a liability if he plays in the big games this season
Report blazing inferno August 6, 2010 10:57 AM BST
no more than a now average john terry and rio ferdinand. very little top quality english players left as world cup showed. we werte embarrased and was very lucky to qualify from group. slovenia easily could have scored. hope they get booed in friendly nxt week

fight for 4th spot is all liverpool can hope to achieve

Report bornisthekingofSB August 6, 2010 10:59 AM BST
i think most liverpool fans would be happy with 4th this season
Report Ukmalllia August 6, 2010 11:08 AM BST
Just my opinion but Carragher just be doing more of what Sami was doing in his last years at the club and being back up for central defence. Agger and Skrtel should be the starting pair but the the amount of injurys these 2 have probaly means Carra will get a lot of games even if this was the policy.

And what is that based on... bitterness??

We finished a point of making it 19 last season. That was achieved with huge injury problems and a few main players off form in the last 3mths of the season.

I'm looking forward to this season as we will push Chelsea again. You'll just be battling with city and spuds for who gets 4th.

I wouldn't mind Flamini if he's cheap enough. Good experience of the prem, a decent player and hs a decent enough left footer for a predominantly right-footed player.

Last season i predicted losing Alonso would greatly diminish Liverpools chances after saying they would finish above Arsenal the year before ,this season without Mascherano they will do worse than last .
However with Stevie Gee and Joey Cole in the same team lay possession . 6th or 7th .

thinly veiled "look at me, I'm dead smart" post imo.
