Seems fair. All the small creditors get 20% of what they are owed whilst millionaire footballers get 100%.

Suppose they'll just carry on paying players wages into off shore accounts and then claiming it was image rights. On balance, probably more sport to be had watching them get relegated.

Why on earth would anyone want to supply them with programmes, coaches for away travel, stuff to sell in their shop, food etc etc Surprised the old bill (presume they're a credotor) don't refuse to supply policing for home games, thus ensuring they don't get a safety certificate and can't play home games.

There should be a lot of clubs are are GLAD Portsmouth won this case because nearley all the clubs pay bonus payments to players and apperance money and most pay it to off shore banks to miss out on paying tax. If Portsmouth had lost this case it would have opened the floodgates on all the other clubs. Then all you so called football fans of other clubs would have said it was unfair. |

yes thet was because they was given permission to get up to 3 players even through they had the embargo on them

Why on earth is there general rejoicing in the sports media so far about this outcome?
It's only a couple of months or so that this football club was reported to be 138 million quid in debt, and they owed any number of businesses money, some of which are too small to be having bad debtors. There was no sensible explanation for the 138 million quid other than financial incompetence or something much more sinister. Why on earth did they carry on trading when they knew they could not pay the bill? |

pompey have about 14 seniors and then the kids, theyve still an ok starting XI imo, for the championship, but Utaka and Boateng want out by the looks of things and obviously the lack of goalkeepers is a major issue

A company I deal with was owed £17,000 by them and subsequently went bust, hence my comment about supplying them.

HMRC will appeal. The Football Payments rules whereby players & clubs get 100% and other creditors only a percentage of the remainder is madness and can't really be legal.

great news for pompey yes all embargos will be lifted now 3.3 for pompey be relgated seems somewhjat short we aint going to win the league but we got more than enough left to hold our own

Huckerson - they have my every sympathy, not that it will change anything.
Try as I might, I can't see ANY difference between this case, and that of an enterprise that (e.g.) buys a huge volume of attractive items from a big supplier, has no intention of paying for them, but flogs them off the back of a lorry for pure profit. If Ronald and Reginald were alive and free today they would be directors of football clubs. |

Indeed cgull, I think the stress of the afternoon got to PO, hence his somewhat over reaction to an innocuous little observation. PO, not that it really maters to prove a point, anyone could get hold of the creditors list, but they were called Instep, trading under the name Hargreaves Lansdown.
