It's a bad start but let's get it into perspective .The guy still has the same problem as Tony did in that the defence was a mess. He still has a few weeks to sort this problem out and will be praying Aiden goes to Moscow to fund the problem .
I'm happy with the rest of the signings but he needs a rock of a defender to piece this jigsaw and a goalkeeper .
Scott Brown is also another who needs to deliver big time this season - He had his injuries last season but time for him to come to the fore
The champions league would have been great no doubt but let's give the man a bit of chance to gel his team

Feck him !

He will be up Ashton Lane tonight trying to get a poke at a skank.
He made a right arse of his team selection yet again, just to try and fit his own buys in. McCourt, Fortune and Ki should have been playing and anyone who has seen Charlie Mulgrew knows he can't defend, so why is he our only left back ?

Lennon is a muppet who has a lot to thank Robbie Keane for. Tonight Lennon added to his tally of meaningless vitories to go with the 8 or 9 at the end of last season.

Loved him as a player (Leicester) but lost all respect after his "orange bast ards" remark.

He probably is going to goose it and get the bag by xmas. Tbf though, can only work with what he has and they seem a pretty poor bunch.

I'll give Lennon a fair chance.  But he MUST NOT continue playing Maloney.  This player is a fooking donkee.  Mulgrew is also a squad player.  Loovens NOT good enough.  Get them 3 out of the team for starters.

New signings look good but some serious decisions need to be made in regards to Brown , Loovens , Mulgrew and Zaluska over the past few games and Maloney simply isnt good enough. Feel confident in the league but nothing else. We have half a team fit enough to wear the jersey now but a long way to go. Agree with first post about NL. Fingers crossed!

This curent Celtic team will be far too good for the SPL.  The SPL is very poor

Yeah sure is. Was good to see our young boys get the run out tonight at the Clyde game, our passing, positioning and team work in the first half was just as good as last year if not better. We will walk the league pretty easily this year, no doubt about it - Celtic on the other hand better watch out for Dundee Utd and Hibs, or even Ross County Laugh

We played our available first team players in the first half and youngsters came on throughout the game. was an easy win.

I suppose there's little option but to give Lennon a bit of a chance now and see how the league goes. I have to say seeing a camera shot of the Celtic bench and looking at Lennon, Mjallby and Thompson all stood there with baffled heads on them does not instill any sort of confidence for the season ahead Sad

No way should Maloney be anywhere near the team, central defence is still a problem and big georgios continues to frustrate Cry

Positives are that Suarez looks decent and showed a great attitude tonight, Hooper looks the sort of goal poacher the team needs. Jury very much out on Ledley who doesn't look up to much, imo.

Lennon is not even close to what Celtic require. This was a cheap option. The games he has won have meant nothing. He has no idea on tactics or team slection. Against wily Walter it is a mismatch.

The only thing is that Lawwel wil fall for this appointment as it is such a shocking decision. The only idiots supporting this manager are the morons who think he is Celtic minded. The real football Celtic fans are just sitting horrified waiting for the failure.

It's plain as the nose on your face that when you have a crisis and need to rebuild you look for someone who can rebuild with a history for rebuilding not a jumped up bigoted mouthpiece who's never been a manager before.

Brown should get launched, the goalkeeper is utterly useless, Boruc and McGeady have carried this lot and Lennon has sold both or demoralised both to go. It's very very sad.

Lennon was in control of the worst Celtic display EVER in his only competitive game and got the job.

Celtic are reaping what they have sowed.

Why give Pat McCourt 3 minutes ? Yes, he can now keep him on side with the £10k win bonus, but he was probably the only player who could have threaded balls through the centre and not constantly go wide or long.
If we are going to play a defensive midfielder, then we have to play a defensive midfielder in that role, which begs the question why Kayal wasn't signed on time. Ad to that why Hooper was signed the day before the first leg in Portugal.
It's as if Celtic already accepted their fate and were counting on the £10m McGeady money, or why else wouldn't he have played ?
Boruc is the best Celtic goalie of my lifetime, so why sell him for a paltry years wages ? Also, when Boruc was sold, why undermine Zaluskas confidence by going out in the press saying that you want to make David James your number 1 ? Not only was Boruc a brilliant goalie, he also shouted and balled at the defence to keep them on their toes, whilst now, there are no talkers.
Some of the signings look decent, but Lennon must realise that they can't all play at once, which he should have learned last season when Mowbray brought in a load.
Hooper looks like a goalscorer, but the scary thing was that he was going wide trying to pick up the ball, instead of staying central, which is the same problem we have with Fortune and Samaras.
Lennon was involved with the reserves for a couple of seasons and I am totally dumbfounded that he has shifted all those mainly Scottish players on, whilst keeping the likes of McGowan, who is probably the worst of the lot.

Lennon GTF !

Lennon has wasted MILLIONS

1 Average signing in the Mexican, the rest are woeful, vile signings.

I dread the season ahead, our rivals The Glasgow Rangers will be sitting rubbing their hands.

I think we are singing from the same hymnsheet on Lennon.

Anyone who plays Sam Harris in Celtic shirt is watching a different player to me. He is the worst value player ever to wear a Celtic shirt and their have been some beauties but the headless chicken takes the cake for me !

It's hard to stomach this especially as the other lot are rank rotten and still ahead of us.

Losing Boruc is a brutal brutal blow and we will never have a better goalkeeper. McGeady gave up last season for me he'd had enough of banging his head off a wall.

There are a few who want a fairly sharp toe in the hole Brown, Maloney, to name two. We're still getting rid of the dirt Strachan bought but Lennon was not the answer.

They should be light years behind us by now that's the problem. Having a poor manager for the past 5 years has meant we have not rammed it down their throats like we should have done.

Very good point Hussard. I remember the year Celtic got to the last 16 in CL and Rangers were in dire straights both on and off the field I thought this could be the start of Celtic domination for 10-15 years. Had your board been willing to spend money and make wiser choices that would have definitely been the case, but thankfully for me, it has worked more in Rangers favour.

4.8,

You have the same problem as alot of my fellow celtic fans, you hate rangers more than you support celitc.

I bet you were a boycotter last season??

If so, get used to it, because Lennon is going to run our once great club into the ground.

We have wasted millions upon millions and now handed The Glasgow Rangers £2m, i feel sick.

I have a feeling in my waters that there will be a new Celtic manager market soon.

Why are Celtic looking so short for the SPL winners?
Report Sasa Broadfoot August 5, 2010 2:35 PM BST
We are so short because rangers have lost players, however, The Glasgow Rangers have not spent a penny for 2 years and still won 2 in a row.

I wouldnt put it past walter to see neil lennon off easily.
