He lost 5k so the chances are he layed at those kind of odds.
Report DaveEdwards August 1, 2010 9:31 AM BST
I like the way you've empathised with him calmoan to help him through this obviously difficult time. Plain
Report Rocket to the FACE August 1, 2010 9:33 AM BST
so he layed 5k at 1.01 or backed for 5k at 1.01?

The first scenario loses you 50 quid. Not exactly a major disaster.
Report Rocket to the FACE August 1, 2010 9:34 AM BST
or did he lay celtic much earlier?
Report DaveEdwards August 1, 2010 9:34 AM BST
Davey, on another note, remember that dog post you did ages ago that ended up with me having an argument with a couple of others? Well you actually did me a right favour as it turned out. Things worked out well after that! Happy

cheers
Report chippy09 August 1, 2010 9:35 AM BST
harsh. never back a 1.01 in a friendly
Report Rocket to the FACE August 1, 2010 9:35 AM BST
scrap that he'd still have won if he did
Report calmoan August 1, 2010 9:36 AM BST
LOL what does he facking expect.  Khunts on here on a sunday morning, hangover from hell and the wife wants the lawn mowed, no sign of a bit of breakfast ans sympathy for me tho  oh no...but this facking eejit wants me to feel sorry for his lunatic actions?  You have to apply the following criteria...."if i done that at work, would i get the sack?" ....in this mugs case, he'd be signing on tomorrow!
Report DaveEdwards August 1, 2010 9:36 AM BST
chippy is bang on the money there I'm afraid. Wouldn't touch friendlies full stop anyway personally, but there you go.

It all got a bit heated for a time, but them I ended up reassessing my approach and have made massive strides forward & it would never have happened had you not done what you did

Nice one dave (i think).  How did you change your approach if you don't mind me asking?
Report calmoan August 1, 2010 9:42 AM BST
I'm afraid not MT, it was a spur of the moment thing, we had visitors, just the guy and wife from across the street.....me and himended up going to the boozer "for an hour"  stayed until closing and ignored many calls and texts from our respective wives
Report MONEY TREE August 1, 2010 9:44 AM BST
GREAT STUFF!!!

Last weekend I was out for a curry with some old friends well I did not go home to 5 in the morning, as you can imagine I did not wanna do much sunday.

told the wife she kept me awake and she left me alone to relax !!!!!

I now order video of the racing and make my own running notes, lot of work involved, but its amazing what you can pick up that doesn't get recorded in the racecard
Report chippy09 August 1, 2010 9:46 AM BST
rocket, i think he just did the simple backing of lyon at 1.01 around the 78-80th minute mark. celtic did not look at all likely to score 1, let alone 2 goals
Report MONEY TREE August 1, 2010 9:46 AM BST
Oh nuts she just read that!!

bad day on its way.
Report Daveyboymoyes August 1, 2010 9:48 AM BST

i'm sadly not on the wind up. i backed lyon at 1.91 a couple of days ago and permed 'em with a fe other selections. every other **** won. i still made 1k profit but i should have been collecting 6 large. chuffin' nora!

Sitting here thinking "shall I lay Lyon?"...boom 1-2...2-2 Cry
Report marc1013 August 1, 2010 12:12 PM BST
didcot can you elaborate your perm bets as I want to understand how you made 1k profit when you say one more will win you a possible 6 figure sum. The difference between one selection losing will not equate to >£99,000. Can you please break down your bet as I work in a bookie and I understand odds. Thank you!
Report Max and Paddy August 1, 2010 12:16 PM BST
Where did he say he could have won "a possible 6 figure sum"?
Report stevies5_mufc August 1, 2010 12:16 PM BST
if i hadnt of already layed off when 2-0 surely you should of thought safer to lay off now @ 2-1 incase something happens...
Report marc1013 August 1, 2010 12:21 PM BST
Max and Paddy: Sorry I thought he meant 6 figures. It's make perfect sense if a nora=£1000. Need more coffee and apologies all round.

hello.

i backed 5 teams this weekend that i thought were going to be backed.

Kups Kupio 2-1
QOTS 5-1
morton 7-1
Lyon 2-2
Kansas city 1-0
4 of them were indeed backed, however kuopio drifted out but still won.

using QOTS as a "banker" in every bet i then did 4x 4-folds the remaining selections. £560 staked. £1,529.50 returns. just shy of 1k net.

hoever had lyon held on i'd be collectin £6,109.97 today.

any road i'm off for a nandos and a pint of magnet!

aftertiming a bit but ho gives a ****. it could be worse as my housemate woke up in some bushes this morining at 8am missing a shoe!

i also spilled some water over my laptop and consequently the "w" key is refusing to function. every time i need to rite a w i have to use ctl-v and "paste" onto thread. i realise this is in no ay relevent to the betfair forum but i just decided to share it anyroad!!!

I hate to be a stickler but, the title of this thread is a tad mis-leading. Lyon 1.01 being smashed did not cost you 5k as you never staked the 5k to begin with. More like the thread title should read:

Lyon game yesterday. 1.01 smashed made me loose out on collecting 5k winnings.
