Teams can make a lot of money for doing fck all, thanks to the gimps at sky, and the clueless fans who turn up to worship their lazy, overpriced, overpaid hereos in their droves, wearing replica shirts with their names on the back, singing (insert club name here) till I die.
Only a few teams can win. More teams should be able to compete, but finishing anywhere from 5th to 17th is seen as success, so teams are happy in their comfort zone. The EPL is about as competitive as the lib dems leadership contest.
No one cares about the lack of entertainment, because the EPL is the best league in the World. There's that sky gimp hype machine again.
EPL teams only care about cash, and they will suffer for that, eventually.
