I think he could be,looked ok one of the few times he played further forward.Maybe he is better in that position.Would not be the only mistake Rafa made.

lets agree to disagree.
only bad move Roy made was too ask for too much money for him. should have taken Palemro 6m offer... |

But the only thing about it is that 4-4-2 is now a dated system but going back to when it was in use Utd used it to great effect with Keane and Scholes even we used it to a certain extent with Xabi and Masch although i wouldnt exactly but xabi in the same bracket as Scholes but i just dont think lucas has the capabilities, only time will tell, be interesting to see what hodgsons take on him and the formation will be

Lucas is Not a holding midfielder, never has been he is an attacking central midfielder. I personally think he has been rubbish but, to be fair to the lad he has been played out of position (shock horror) by Rafa. If Rafa had stayed then I would have said get rid pronto, but if Roy gives him a chance in a more natural role then we have to give him some time to see what he can do. Surely we owe him that for taking Brazil's great white hope of his generation and turning him into salif diao!

RP, didn't Rafa let Warnock go ?
|
|
By:
there is nothing between Lucas & Denilson. They are both very average. The only thing they have on their side is time.
Denilson could be also turn out to be a Darren Fletcher, he certainly has the stamina for 90 minutes of kicking. But you dont really expect Brazilian players to develop like that do you? |
|
By:
Not sure who let him go to be honest, but we need a left back and he has prem experience, can get forward loves a tackle, could do a job imo, as for Lucas I still think he can improve, even when in brazil e was seen as a differing type less flair more in the mould of the ex national manager, some players explode on te scene and then fade some start slowly and then flourish, look at uniteds brazillian midfielder the one who looks like that bird from shameless

What do we think of the possibility of losing Mascherano? Personally if we can get silly money i aint too bothered, good player but i am pretty confident he can be suitably replaced for a lot less than we would get for him.

Budd, the STATS say you winning % increase when he does not play. Surprised me a bit tbh. But yeah, anything over £20m is a must sell.
|

By:
RP, you defending Rafa again [;)] It must have been him who let Warnock go, shirley.

|
By:
who would you like to see come in when we sell torres and masca
I would hope we would get £60m for Fernando and £20m for masca. Potential Players: Milner 25m (english but overpriced) Ireland 10m (great buy-creative, scores goals Raul (free transfer) old but got a couple of years left. Any other Man City striker rejects? |

By:
Bridge & Richards to bolster defence (both english)

Baros,Cisse & Riise.

If we do sell Torres I'd hope they'd try to re-invest the large part on Dzeko - anything less (Carlton Cole, Remy etc) will see uproar among the fans.
As for Mascherano, either Cambiasso in p/x please or some cheap alternative as with Gerrard, Aquillani and Lucas we're not too badly off in that dept already. |
|
By:
I'd like Ireland but think he's a bit similar to Gerrard, Aquillani and Cole so not sure how we'd accomodate him.
Raul is going to want a fortune in wages and you're not getting Milner for less than £25m now that City are involved so no value there. |

When we brought Lucas he had won player of the year in Bazil i think?
I like him maybe woy can get the best out of him! He seems to be a player that likes the manager to put his arm around him and say you done well! Something Rafa didnt do to any player! But all managers are differant! |

From The Guardian today:
And meanwhile back at Liverpool, Hodgson may or may not be scoffing at that Cole and Doyle talk while preparing a spot in his dressing room for Mexican left-back Carlos Salcido, who is currently with PSV. Thought that guy was outstanding for Mexico in the world cup and his football story would make him a fan favourite at Anfield, sooner, rather than later. |
