These are people who travel to support their clubs all year round. Not the clever guys on here who made a profit from a crooked match, so you think its O.K. to cheat and get away with it. For every £ you made you have just ++++++ someone else who thought the game was straight. Donate your winnings to charity. This game leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. WOTCHA GONNA DO ABOUT IT BETFAIR, WHY NOT DONATE ALL YOUR COMMISSION EARNED TO CHARITY.
Report well4 May 9, 2010 4:36 PM BST
Dave, can you prove that this was ****ed? I lost money on the Bologna-Lazio game a couple of weeks ago because I thought that would be a pre-arranged draw, should the circa 1.6 draw layers, should they donate their winnings to charity for taking advantage of people who thought it would finish in a pre-arranged result? I knew it was a risk and I was unfortunate that that one didn't turn out, so I'm quite happy to win back some of what I lost on this one.

Do I need to prove it was crooked. Doesnt the turnover of 2.6 million and 2.5 million on the draw prove it and the amount matched on 1.1 result. I am not aware of the previous game you mention and the relevant turnovers, so I cant comment. All I Know is that you have participated in a crooked game so that makes it OK to cheat someone else. Gambling is about a level playing field for all. This game was corrupt dont be deluded.

Report well4 May 9, 2010 4:54 PM BST
Let's be absolutely clear about this one. I, or anyone else who backed the draw in this game today, was not "cheating" anyone. Anyone who layed the draw at odds on prior to kick off knew the risks they were taking. If they knew anything about gambling they would have clocked that the odds were highly suspicious and they stood a high chance of losing their money by laying the draw. They still made the decision to do so in the hope that the game would not end in the outcome so heavily suggested by the odds.

I'm not denying that people were betting on whether the match was ****ed/pre-arranged or not as opposed to simply what they thought the outcome would be. But it's still a risk and it's certainly not "cheating".
Report DaveSussex May 9, 2010 4:54 PM BST
What also I object to is BETFAIR making a profit on commission from £2.6 million turnover on a crooked game.As well as profits from the other markets.
Report marquinhos May 9, 2010 5:00 PM BST
There is a slim chance that this wasn't ****ed though it doesn't look likely. If it wasn't then it makes perfect sense that Bologna would go for it in the first half thinking a draw might not guarantee them safety then they see Atlanta were losing at half time and eased off. There was no need for either team to win in the last 30 mins as Atlanta were 2-0 down.
Report DaveSussex May 9, 2010 5:07 PM BST
When I gamble I estimate whether the odds are correct 1.3 on the draw are not correct in any match. So I should not participate assuming the game is straight, so we are gambling on something that is crooked and thats alright?

The supporters are aware that long and short term mutually beneficial arrangements can be made at this time of the season and are happy with that

There is a fair chance one or both of these clubs could be in a similar relegation dodging position next year. A favour sown is a favour reaped.

So does anybody know what actually constitutes "suspicious betting patterns"?

Is it "suspicious" that the correct score of 1 - 1 traded at 1.4 pre-match?

Is it suspicious that 1 - 0 to either side traded at over 100 pre-match despite the fact that to achieve the 1 - 1 they had to get there via 1 - 0?

If you get kicked out of a cup competition/docked 3 points in the league for a mishap resulting in fielding an ineligible player or fined for playing an "understrength" team how can the authorities turn a blind eye when all the players involved plus both teams' management must have known the result of this game beforehand and probably had a few bob on it?

In other words, why the fvcking hell doesn't the likes of Platini actually DO SOMETHING about this important crap instead of faffing around with stuff like the 2 extra officials behind the goal?

Wow...remarkable to think this game was 10 years ago. I remember it well - Bologna playing like world beaters in the first half before conceding a cheap equaliser early after the restart.

2010 really was the peak of 'silly season' in Italy - other highlights included Lecce finishing their campaign as Serie B champions courtesy of two 0-0 draws in their final two games - both of which were backed at sub-1.5 before the games - and Padova, 20th out of 22 sides having recorded 2 away wins all season, priced 1.1 to win away to AlbinoLeffe with Draw HT/Padova FT also backed heavily - cue them taking the lead, conceding an own goal on the stroke of half time and scoring a free header in the second half to miraculously record their third away win.
