to be fair, Betfair are a little cupable because their system shouldn't, imo, allow someone to bet with money they doh have
By:

Not involved in this market either way but after reading this thread, and those on the MSE forum, I think this is totally Betfair's fault. The whole point of this site is that you can't lose more than you have deposited under any circumstances, however**ed or foolish you are, however little notice you take of the rules. If I thought I could lose 10k I dont have by not reading the rules I would never bet on here again.

Betfair's fault, they should pay out the winners, clear out the losers accounts and swallow the rest of the losses.

Someone from Betfair has rang me but he's told me not to panic, they're gonna sort it, he's told me not to discuss the details we talked about on any forum.. and to avoid speculation about what is going to happen.. but Betfair are fully aware of the "problem" and a lot of users (I'm certain he said nearly 50% of betfair users!) have done the same.. he told me theres someone with a bigger loss than me! But anyway he's gonna ring all users involved... and that they accept they are partly responsible.. he said, we dont do credit accounts, you shouldn't beable to go into debt with us

Now one of the big losers is spouting that BF are going to 'sort it' but not to talk about it on any other forum - the fish is MAD.

Bf are totally responsible. Their system allows negative balances and has done so for some time.

If they do get away with it what is to stop people doing this every week? You could **it' so that you have one account with a liabitlity written off by BF and another that has backed winners so you could win twice. BF have to get the money back otherwise will be admitting liability surely.

Disagree, BF have to sort out their markets and software to stop people being able to do this.

happened to me once someone backed a horse at 1.01 where i had put lay field at 1.01 , this horse had been withdrawn just before the race went off so i could have bet with the 1000 green i had on the field whilst only having 100 odd in me account luckily im not that greedy or stupid

Betfair must surely try and get the money back. After all, although it's an unenforceable debt, it's still a debt and so should be followed up a best it can. And should affect the debtor's credit rati ng etc.

Why are so many posts on here going on about the misguided layers being 'thieves'? Fools, ok I'll give you that, but all they thought they were doing was taking advantage of an overround market. If their thinking had not been flawed, and the market genuinely had been 140%, how many on here would have dived in and cleaned up the value? I would have, and wouldnt have thought for one minute I was doing anything wrong. Anyone who makes money on here does so by taking advantage of other people's mistakes. Think about it.

Betfair's fault 100%

Sorry, don't see what you are disagreeing to here? These people are greedy muppits, it is possible for us all to do the same - but we don't.

You lot are all off the MSE forum PMSL.

ok so lets break this down...........

Anyone who makes money on here does so by taking advantage of other people's mistakes

SO

Anyone who loses money does so by making their own mistakes.

When you click lay - you are liable.

urm, yeh the software is at fault, but why is anyone going to deliberately loose money by making this mistake? performing a trick to go green this is not
