Someone put up a post on a forum called MSE suggesting that they could lay all the players in the Carling Cup final as the market was 140%.. lol.

No Sturrocko, not necessarily. He is only +3k on Walcott as a result of the lay profits on players like Henry, Ljungberg, Kalou, who aren't playing. So those are voided, and he doesnt get his money to pay off his lay on Walcott.

i dont ever do the fgs market but i dont see how players coming on after the first goal affect anything as it will already have been settled?

nope, he is certainly not ok...
there were 9 voided players i.e. he wouldnt have the money coming in for the bets he layed on them, so the overround/profit is incorrect... some people will think it's hilarious, i feel well sorry for these people :-( |

Somebody obviously thought it would work on the Inverness/Celtic game too... I backed virtually the whole field at crazy prices - including getting 36 on Baynes, the scorer, at 26s.
Hope fingers are too badly burnt...looking forward to more of these prices! |

Partridge I wouldn't waste much time on them.
I feel about as sorry for these guys as I do for those who back 1.01s, or lay Celtic at 65s with seconds left. Idiotic bets made more small change. In this particular case, amateurishly rushing into a market without thinking things through - and imho, laying the whole field is completely against the spirit of gambling. Serves 'em right. |

its all bull anyway, there is no way he could have layed in those volumes - look at the money thats available to lay on each - just a few quid here and there... There was over 450k matched on this rather than the usual few thousand for a big televised game. I don't believe it is bull... |

One guy claimed to have lost nothing but got over 6000 commission points. Then he looked at his account statement and it showed him owing nearly 12k. You can't really feel sorry for them as they thought they were getting one over on someone else.

This is not like a normal market where all outcomes are possible, you *will* lose money when bets are voided because players don't start. In fact this is a classic betfair forum windup/ramp tactic. And yes you can overrun your betfair balance doing this

Thought betfair closed that loophole a long time ago after a cricket highest runscorer rick? one of the batsmen accounted for about 25% of the market wasnt going to play - an overround was put up and a bot kept eating up the overround. BF subsequently changed so the maximum liability was taken from your exposure (sure someone can explain better)
So you cant keep laying the overround if your balance cant cover the worst case scenario (with non runners) |

I am personally inclined to highlight this thread to BetFair, to ensure that these greedy dimwits are chased for their money. Some of them even closing bank accounts, cancelling cards now.

the same people (and in particular that reason chap) are all boasting about taking free money from casinos bookies match bets etc etc.. what goes around comes around eventually and i do hope they do end up paying for this (although reality is betfair will no doubt end up paying)
